Tourist Town

The tourists are as thick as ants in the area around Disney World.  We went to a favorite pizza place knowing we would have to deal with hordes of people.  We went early which was a good thing.  Disney must really be raking in the money!

Target, Sams, Camping World and Panda Express

We had a busy day - first Camping World - purchased nothing.  Then Target - got some more Dark Chocolate Espresso trail mix that Brenda got me hooked on eating.  To Panda Express for lunch and then Sams Club for vitamins.  We had bacon, lettuce, tomato sandwiches at home for dinner, still too full to eat much more.

Sweet Tomatoes

We went out to eat at Sweet Tomatoes with some friends.  They had never gone to ST before and I know now they will be going again.  Always fun to eat out with friends - we will be going our separate ways soon.

Getting it done!

Tuesday we finally got the water heater repaired, it needed a new "mixer valve".  Now instead of having warm water we have hot water - something we are still getting used to having.  Today we cleaned the carpets which involved dismantling half the motorhome.  When we got the job finished we put the air conditioners on full blast and went out to eat at Olive Garden and then we went to the show Lorax 3D.  It was a cute show, I had some problems staying awake at first.  They did a nice job with the 3D.  We choose that show because it was the only one beginning at the time we arrived.  When we came home the carpets were mostly dry but we just moved back the things we had to so we could live in the place.  We got a couple tacos for dinner.

(We noticed "Men in Black 3" in 3D is coming out in June - have to see that show! )

Orlando

We moved the motorhome today to near Orlando (Clermont, Florida).  It was a good move and we got a nice site - the only 50 amp one available.  It has been a hot day, forecast to just getting warmer all week - glad we have air conditioners!  Some friends stopped by, we plan on going out to eat with them later this week.

Uneventful (boring) week

We haven't done much but hang around the park and sometimes that is good.  Don has been getting the MH ready to move on Monday, checking the tires, oil, etc.  We haven't moved it for 3 months. I finished one book and am about half way through another.  I think we both need a change of scenery!  We went to Dade City last night for dinner.  Got a text from Sheila that they had flown into Ft. Lauderdale, they will be getting on a cruise ship today for an 8 day trip.

Parksdale Farms

We went to coffee at the clubhouse this morning just for a short time as we wanted to tell some folks that are leaving "Goodbye" and then we went to Tampa.  Had lunch at Lazy Days RV Sales - they have a free lunch and today it was chef salad.  It was on to Parksdale Farms in Plant City (named after a Mr. Plant).  We had their whooping fresh strawberry sundaes for just $2.99 each and we purchased a couple big bags of fresh vegetables and strawberries to take home.  We picked up a Subway on the way home for dinner.  Was good to get out of the park, I'm feeling it is time to move the motorhome along!

Good (hot) Sunday

We got up late so were behind all morning.  Then I took a nap and the time evened out somehow.  We went to our neighbors to see their new kittens as they are leaving tomorrow.  They will be in the same park when we are in Orlando next week.  Was a hot day, had the AC on most of the day.

St. Patrick's Day

We went to the party at the clubhouse, everyone took a appetizer.  There was a lot of good food, good friends and good wine.  Had a fun time.

At noon we had a calzone from a new pizza place, we could eat only half of it - will eat the rest for lunch someday.  It has been mid 80's so sat outside until party time then turned on the AC when we got home.

Dinner at the clubhouse!

We got groceries in the morning and ate lunch at McDonald's.  Then we went to the clubhouse for a good dinner of corned beef and cabbage with all the extras.  We had a good time with our friends and several bottles of wine.

It has been another hot day in Florida, good to have are air conditioner on in the evening.

Mug Cake

This recipe is sweeping the RV park.  I have tried it and it works and is good.

Mug Cake (sometimes called 3 2 1 cake)

Mix together 1 two layer package of dry cake mix (any brand, and flavor except carrot) and 1 dry one-step type angle food cake mix.  Put the dry cake mixture in a plastic storage bag.  Store in refrigerator.

Take 1/3 cup of  cake mixture and mix in 2 tablespoons of water.  Put into a ceramic coffee mug (no need to grease mug) and microwave for 1 minute.  Turn out right away.  You have a individual cake!

Variations:  put one shot of spray oil (PAM) in bottom of mug and add before cake mixture:  brown sugar and nuts or fruit like blueberrys, peaches, pineapple (can put sugar or brown sugar with them).  Also can put chocolate syrup, caramel syrup or pancake syrup in bottom of mug.  Use your imagination.

Weeki Wachee

Today we finally got to Weeki Wachee, it's been 34 years!  We went to the Mermaid show and took the boat ride.  Since the state of Florida has made the place one of their state parks - it is no longer in disrepair as it reportedly was for several years.  It is clean, well kept and interesting.  We enjoyed ourselves.

We had lunch for the first time ever at 5 Guys, it was good but we ordered WAY too much food.

After Weeki Wachee we went to Target, CVS and got gas.  We picked up a Subway for dinner on the way home.

Terrorist plots

When we went to bed last night I set the clocks one hour ahead - so was one hour later than usual going to sleep.  This morning when I got up at the usual time it was actually one hour earlier - so lost another hour of sleep.  How does that work, I set the clock back one hour and lost two hours of sleep.  Must be a terrorist  plot.

Yesterday was suppose to be nice, but no - rained on and off all day.  Ditto for today.  Two cold days of rain is not what I want, can hardly tolerate one.  Another terrorist plot.

Then there is the matter of the ant bite has turned half of my arm swollen and red.  Must be a terrorist ant.

Hot out again

We have had rain on and off all day and it is hot - makes for air conditioner weather!  We had roast beef at the clubhouse last night, brought home chicken for dinner today.  We went to town for groceries and had lunch at Bugger King, it took 15 minutes to place our order - they cater to the drive-thru people first.

Weeki Wachee - not

We went to Weeki Wachee Springs State Park today with the intention of visiting but they were having a historic car rally and there were too many people around.  The cars were interesting to look at, very old.  One had a bumper sticker "Honk if any parts fall off".  We will try again next week to visit Weeki Wachee.

Instead we went to Target - they were out of my favorite trail mix "Dark Chocolate Espresso" but I got a couple other interesting bags.  Then we went to CVS and Sam's Club.  Don had a donut craving so we went to Dunkin Donuts.  Haven't done that in a very long time.  We had lunch at Chick-fil-a and then we stopped on the way home for a Subway for dinner.

Big cool down

About 4AM the weather front came through, the same one that has caused all the problems north of us.  We got some wind and a thunder storm but thankfully no sever storms.  The weather then cooled down and humidity dropped, feels so nice today.  We went out for breakfast as usual and came home to read the papers. At noon we went to a lunch for the volunteers in the park.  I guess I was a tag along, Don was the one who helped out on the clean-up days and helped shovel gravel around the clubhouse area.  They had grilled hamburgers and hot dogs with beans and Cole slaw and chips.

Later we went to the ice cream social, the first time this winter.  Us women "let" the men sit separately and so we could visit.  Some people were there I seldom get to see.   Talked to Brenda and Sheila in the evening.

Hot Saturday

We went to Bushnell for groceries and then home and turned on the air conditioner as it is a hot and humid day.    If I were in Minnesota I would be sure a storm was going to pop anytime, the weather just had that old familiar feeling.  We went to Wildwood for dinner at Steak and Shake.  The wind was causing high profile trucks and RV's trouble on the interstate.

Escapees Chapter Lunch

We went to Clermont Golden Corral for the Escapees Chapter Lunch today.  It wasn't as good of a turnout as normal, perhaps people are starting to make their way north.  Some folks think they have to rush home to do taxes!  There were still plenty of people and plenty of visiting.  Don and I went to the nearby Kohl's - didn't buy anything.  The motorhome was 85 degrees inside (same as outside) when we got home so turned on the air conditioner.  We are both a bit groggy, too much to eat I think.
