The Wedding

Today was our niece's wedding and a beautiful one it was.

Friday before the wedding

Brenda and family came by car and Sheila by airplane today for a family wedding.  We ate at Powder House and then went to the lodge where they are staying with much of the rest of the family.  We all visited for awhile.

Two days on the road

After two days on the road we are tired.  We spent last night in Oasis Campground near Chamberlain, SD and got into Happy Holiday by Rapid City about 12:30.  Today we stopped at Wall Drug and also got some diesel before the campground.  Ate at Fudruckers, were we always eat the first night in Rapid, I guess because it is quick and easy.  Last night we ate at Al's Oasis and had a good meal.  They have changed things around some - first time in all the time I have been going there.  The crabby old hostesses has been replaced by a nice person.

It has been very hot today and looking like storms tonight.  We had wind at our backs most of the trip which really helps with mileage.  We are tired but trying to get things done.  Looking forward to seeing daughters tomorrow who are coming for a family wedding.

Tuesday

We had a good Memorial Day get-together with family at our daughter and family's home.  Good chicken and good conversation.  Today we are getting ready to leave MN for the Black Hills for 2 to 3 months.

Memorial Day Weekend

The weather has been unusually nice for a holiday weekend although rain is forecast for this afternoon.  We haven't done much so far, ate at our all time favorite Mexican restaurant on Friday and Chili's last night.  We rented the movie Frozen which we enjoyed.  Today we are going to get together with family.

Concert

This evening we went to Zach's 9th grade band concert.  Another good one!  Afterwards we went with Sheila and Zach for ice cream at Culvers and also had fun hearing stories of Zach's first driving attempts.  Curbs and a school bus were involved.   NO one was hurt, NO property damage.

Mushy Munday

It rained hard this morning.  So tired of bad weather!

In the evening we went to granddaughter Brianna's band concert which we enjoyed.

May Sunday

Once again the sun shines!  We went to lunch with Brenda and Rebecca which included a good visit of course.  Then we had dinner with Sheila and family.  Another good visit.  All makes for a wonderful day!!!!

Spring Opening

Today was "Spring Opening" day at the campground we are staying at, Dakotah Meadows.  They had a bag of gifts for everyone and a brat lunch with several salads.  It was a nice day and warm in the sun but the wind made the shade feel cool.  Lots of people, fun people watching.  I sat down at one table and a man in a electric wheel chair about the size of a Volkswagen told me in a gruff voice he was saving the table for his family.  Then his family came and sat at a different table!

One woman was the first in line and then the last in line.  Kids all over the place trying to trip us old people.  Oh well, what you have to endure for a free lunch.  In the evening we went out for a good steak dinner.

Prime Rib at Little Six

Still cold and wet.  Will this weather ever improve?

We went to Little Six Casino for their Prime Rib night.  First we had Cream of Wild Rice soup which is know for being SO good.  Then the Prime Rib with American fries.  The beef was done just right and wonderful.  I didn't eat half my fries as I wanted to eat all the meat.

Just doing stuff

Yesterday was a day of doing errands.  We ate breakfast at Little Six Casino and then we made a number of stops including getting groceries, taking our old printer to be recycled, etc.

Today we had our eye doctor appointments.  Don got off without needing new glasses but I need new contacts and new glasses (mine are 5 years old).  I will probably hold off on the glasses as I don't often wear them.  I usually get a headache from the exam but today I had a mini-migraine.  Had the light thing going on, upset stomach, but not much pain - I know some people that call them painless migraines.  After a couple pills and a nap I feel much better but not perfect yet.

Mothers' Day

We went to the Old Log Theater for a wonderful buffet brunch.  We had time to visit at the table before we all went into the theater for the performance of Steel Magnolias. All this was to celebrate Mothers' Day and our 50th wedding anniversary (which is June 7, we will be in the Black Hills at that time).  Sheila and family, Brenda and Rebecca and Kazia and family were all there.  They gave me much appreciated Mothers' Day gifts and also gave us great anniversary gifts.  The best part of the day was being with family, I would take that over food, shows and gifts any day!!!!!

Rebecca's birthday

Today is Rebeccs's 17th birthday, time flies!  We met her and her parents and Sheila and Bri at Davanni's for a pizza celebration.

Earlier in the day we went grocery shopping, so much fun.

Happy Star Wars Day

We went out for breakfast and to Cub Foods for a few things, came home and got stuff done.  In the afternoon we went out again to Kohl's, my first visit in a long time.  Otherwise a quiet day at home.

Nice Saturday

The weather was actually nice enough to hang out the jeans to dry!  It got windy in the afternoon but still about 60 degrees.

We went to the Dennis' for dinner.  Was good to get a chance for a good visit.  Rebecca came over also as her parents are out of town.

Friday in MN

At last we have a almost decent day.  The weather is looking better as the days pass.  Paid a first visit to Cub Foods, a grocery store we like as a change and upgrade from Walmart.  Their prices are higher but they have some things we can't find elsewhere.  The meat, deli and bakery are so much better!  We ate dinner at our favorite Chinese - Hong Wong and it was good as always.

Happy May Day

May 1 already!   It has been said that April showers bring May flowers.  We had plenty for rain in April SO where are the tons of flowers?

This morning we went out for breakfast at Little Six Casino.  They have the best French Toast!  We came home and got the new printer out of the box, set it up, all went well so we put it under the table where we keep the printer.   It would not print without jamming the paper.  So looked it up on the internet to find it needed to be level, used the level app on my phone - it was not level.  We leveled it and seems to be working.  Does it seem like we are having more than our share of problems?

It is still cold, cloudy and raining, day 5.  When will it ever end?
