Last of January 2016

We went to the nearby Waffle House for breakfast.  We had stopped in there several years ago and left right away.  The place was grime and full of hard core types.  Places can change so we decided to give it another try and it was fine.  Food was good and we had good service, place was clean and families and retired folks were dinning there.

In the afternoon we went to the park's Ice Cream Social.  Didn't have ice cream as too close to dinner.  Then grilled pork chops for dinner and stayed home the rest of the evening.

Sunny Saturday

A well deserved nice day!  We went into Bushnell for breakfast at McDonald's and then to get some groceries.  One store had a dozen eggs for $1.29 and we wanted to get some before they ran out.

Don waxed the drivers side of the motorhome.  I did stuff inside.  In the evening we went for dinner at Steak and Shake, had hamburgers, onion rings, salad and shakes.  Good!  In the evening we watched a movie I had recorded  "Bridesmaids"  we had see it before but it is fun to watch again.

Tampa and beyond

We went to Tampa today.  Ate lunch at Sweet Tomatoes and then went to Old Time Pottery.  They have so much stuff it is just fun to look around.

Then it was off to Camping World where Don got to do some shopping.  After that we went to Parksdale Farm for some fresh vegetables and fruit.  Don convinced me we needed their great strawberry sundaes.  They are huge and good with fresh strawberries.  It is a very popular place this time of year as the strawberries are just getting ripe.

Rain again

Raining again today.  In two days we got around 5 to 6 inches.  It is so humid.

We didn't care for the dinner at the clubhouse so we went into Bushnell to the very good Mexican place Coyote Rojo.  They always have good food and excellent service.

Humidity City

It rained all night, sometimes heavy.  Heard we got about 2.5 inches but it must of soaked into the ground as there aren't many puddles.  Today it started raining again in the afternoon.  It is Very Humid.

Just a stay at home day.  Had left overs from last night for dinner.

Groceries on Tuesday

We went to Bushnell for groceries today.  This must have been the "stand in the middle of the aisle with your cart day", could hardly get to where I needed.   Also stopped at another store for a peach pie, we got a strawberry-rhubarb pie there last week and it was very good. 

I put a roast in the crock pot which we had for dinner.  I continue to read my Nixon book, it is a long one!  Rain is forecast for tonight.

Mundane Monday

A stay at home day after another cold night.  We have bright sun so the motorhome heated up fast.  Went to coffee at the clubhouse and otherwise I read my book "Nixon Gambles".

Florida - Cold

It was a cold morning after a cold night.  Got down to freezing again.  We went for a good breakfast at Cracker Barrow otherwise stayed home all day.  Read the two Sunday newspapers we get and grilled steak later in the day.

Winter???

We went for breakfast at the clubhouse and then to Bushnell for groceries.  Hung out around the MH the rest of the day.  In the evening we brought home Chinese food.

We watched some TV and I read some of my new Nixon book.  I thought I had read everything possible about former President Nixon but now there is a new book.  Downloaded it to my Kindle.

Tonight is suppose to get below freezing, Don clams he saw a few snow flakes.

Day trip

It was off to Winter Haven, Florida today to pick up the new sunscreen for the front window of our RV that we had ordered.  Storms were threatening but we decided to make the trip anyway.  It was an enjoyable trip, different part of Florida away from the tourists.

Then we went to Kissimmee for lunch at Sweet Tomatoes as is a favorite place of ours.  It is near Disney World so in the middle of tourist country.  I stopped at Kohl's department store, had a coupon that was expiring.  While we were at Sweet Tomatoes it rained hard so we waited it out, people were looking for tables so jumped at ours when we left.

This was the day, mid season, that we took the motorhome out for exercise.  Moving 5 feet or 500 miles is the same process and a pain.  We have to put things away and secure other things being sure all is out of the area of the slides.  That is the hard part.  Then we took the MH in for gas and back to the campground for propane.  Time to back it up on our pad which is a bit tense and set up again.  We got it all done in around 2 hours.  Hopefully we won't have to move it until we head south in April.

In the evening we went to the clubhouse for their Thursday night dinner.  It was beef tips on noodles, fairly good, not a favorite.

Brooksville

In the afternoon we went to Brooksville for dinner at Texas Roadhouse.  We had some very good steak.  Then we went to Sam's Club for tuna but they didn't have the brand we like.  We did get some huge oranges.

Chili - two ways

Today we went to Bushnell for breakfast at McDonald's.  It was so much better than what we had at Dunkin Donuts and less expensive.  Then we went to Walmart for some groceries, like always we purchased more than we thought.  I bought groceries for Chili which I put together in the Crock Pot to cook a few hours before dinner.

It was a cold evening so the Chili tasted good.  Don put water in the motorhome fresh water tank as we are going to have to take off the hose tonight as it will be freezing outside.

Sun on Sunday

We went to Steak and Shake at Wildwood for breakfast.  It is a drive but the food is good, hot and service is fine.  Not too expensive.  Came home and spent the rest of the morning reading our two Sunday papers.

In the afternoon we got lazy and decided not to go to the ice cream social at the clubhouse.  I continued to read a book.  We grilled ham for dinner and talked to daughter Brenda later.

Dunkin Donuts

Because the breakfast at the clubhouse was biscuits and gravy we went to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast.  Bad idea.  My breakfast sandwich looked like it was tossed into the bag and shook.  After I put it together and took a bite I found it was about room temperature.  I ordered "Bold" coffee, it too was cool.  Don's sandwich was also cool but his regular coffee was hot.  We were about to return our items when a bus of kids pulled up and were in line at the cash register.  Also we had trouble finding a clean table, had to use napkins to wipe one ourselves.  The parking lot looked like a garbage dump.  Needless to say no more breakfasts at Dunkin Donuts (donuts maybe).

In the evening we went to the wine and cheese party at the clubhouse, they had a good turnout.  We had a fun time.

About all we did today was go for dinner at Cracker Barrow.  It was good as always and we had great service.

Friday night is the weekly "jam session" at our clubhouse.  People come from all around, mostly our campground and other campgrounds.  The clubhouse is across the street from our motorhome so somehow people get the idea it is fine to park on our lot.  Most RV'ers know that this is something one NEVER does.  We came home and again this week we could hardly get to our parking spot beside our motorhome.  Guess the manager doesn't see this, doesn't want to do anything about it or doesn't think we care.  Time to have a chat with him.

Walmart and dinner

Yet another trip to Walmart.  We finally found a surge protector like we need and a few groceries too of course.

Dinner was at the clubhouse - Cole slaw, open face port sandwiches, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas and cake.  All good even though I'm not a mashed potato fan.  We sat around and visited awhile.

Search

We had a cup of coffee (I need one to get my head on straight in the morning) and then we went to Dunkin Donuts for more coffee and a donut.

From there we went to Brooksville to Kohl's, Target, Walmart and Sam's Club.  I have never liked the bedspread on our bed in the new motorhome.  It has a gathered on skirt which first is not my style and second it gets in the way.  I thought Don was Ok with it so didn't say anything, then a couple days ago he said he didn't like it either.  So today we went on a search for a comforter.  Nothing at Kohl's, nothing at Target but Walmart had a good choice in black and silver.

We ate lunch at Paneria, I had my favorite drink, iced coffee.  Now I have had enough coffee.

Clean car

The big news today is Don washed and waxed the car finally getting the salt and road scum from our trip from Minnesota to Florida.  It looks so nice, clean.

We stayed home all day, went to 10 AM coffee in the clubhouse and grilled brats for dinner.

Cleaning and eating

We cleaned the inside of a very dirty motorhome today.  It hadn't been cleaned sense several days before we left in mid November.  Then bring all the things back inside added to the mess.  Now it is clean an looking good.

This evening we went for a hamburger at Beef O Brady's as it was their hamburger night.  They have great hamburgers with all the extras.

Sunday

It was out for breakfast a Cracker Barrow and then to Walmart to spend more money for the groceries we forgot the other day.  We came home to read the two Sunday papers we get and drink the "to-go" coffee from breakfast.

We went to the ice cream social at the clubhouse in the afternoon.  Later grilled steak for dinner, turned out to be good steak - sometimes hard to find good steak in Florida.

I talked to our daughters in the evening.  They are dealing with below zero temps in Minnesota.

Great pizza

It has been a hot and humid day, rained on and off in the evening.  We went to breakfast at the clubhouse.  Don didn't have to help prepare the breakfast this morning as workampers were in charge.

We went to Monticello's Pizzeria for dinner, a favorite pizza place for us.

Friday

We went to Captain D's in Dade City for dinner.  We returned home, the campground was having a music thing at the clubhouse across the road.  We don't attend as it is very unprofessional .  There were cars all over including on our site blocking where we pull in and park our car.  We were able to pull in down the road and angle in to our parking.  Now we need to talk to the manager to let him know we don't want this to happen again.  For non-campers, it is considered a big no-no to park on someone else's site.   The people who did are probably form another park and should know better.

Lunch ans show

Today we went to the Escapees Chapter meeting and luncheon in Clermont.  Good to see friends again.

Afterward we went to the new Starr Wars show.  We saw it in 3D and enjoyed it.  We got a subway on the way home for dinner.

Busy day in Florida

Busy day getting groceries and stuff put away.  It is fun to see our Christmas gifts again as we put things away.  Our family was way too generous again this year!

We went to 10 AM coffee at the clubhouse, good to see friends again.  The RV park is all but full.

The cloths are washed and put away and I am fixing dinner.

It has been "cold" today with highs around 60, but it fees OK to us as we are accustomed to much colder weather.  We won't see snow around here----

And another 9 hours on the road

The good news is we made it our our campground in Florida.  There were no traffic snarls like usual, no big slow downs.   The motorhome seems to be fine after 7 weeks of not being used.  New we have a ton of stuff to unload, wash and put away.  We need groceries and other things.  Tomorrow, we are tired tonight.

After 9 hours on the road today we arrived in Prattville, Alabama, by Montgomery.  We are at the Holiday Inn Express - a very nice place complete with a Kerorg coffee maker in the room!  We ate dinner at Zaxby's, a favorite place found in the south.  Tired after 2 days of travel with one more day to go before we get to Bushnell Florida

10 hours on the road

We left our house at 6:30 this morning heading to our motorhome which is in Florida.  It has been a good 6 weeks of family and being in our house.  There were no weather or other problems.  In Illinois we saw a lot of flooded fields but no road problems, so far.  We stopped for the night in Effingham and plan to get an early start tomorrow again.

We had a goodbye dinner with family this evening.  It is always a fun time when we get together, so glad we could do it one mere time before we leave.

New Years Day

It is a nice bright, sunshine day for the first day of the year.  It is also cold with a cold wind and snow on the ground.

We had to make a Menards run,  for the third hose for the shower head.  Thankfully Menards was open today and they had quite the crowd.  I went in, didn't need anything but wanted to do some walking.

For dinner we had waffles, bacon and eggs.  Used up all the eggs at least.
