Last day of May

Today we had breakfast at Panera and then went to Walmart for just a couple things.  Then to Cub Foods - they are remoulding which makes it so hard to find anything.  Think we need to go to a different Cubs for awhile until the work is done.  Finally to the Dollar Store for some items.

I fixed dinner (for a change) and we stayed home

We had a nice day again finally, not too warm but the sky is blue!

Slow day

Brenda is still sick, didn't go to work which is a good plan.  We cleaned the house and did a few extra things house wise.

We got tacos for dinner, slow day!

Memorial Day

We decided to put off usual chores today as it is a holiday.  We went to Menards Home Store - bad idea.  It was packed with families that somehow couldn't keep track of their kids.  I nearly got ran over twice by a floor zamboni.  Why they were trying to clean the floor when the store was so busy I do not understand.  Then a man was carrying a couple shepard hook type plant holders with the forked end that goes in the ground sticking out behind him.  I gave him a wide berth but to no avail.  He made a sudden turn and whapped me.  Rather than apologising he gave me a look like it was my fault.  I couldn't find what I was looking for, but did find Don to tell him I was going to the car.

Sheila and family had us over for dinner.  Great to get together!  Brenda was sick with a sore throat and fever so didn't come but her daughter Becca did come.  We had a good time!!!

Sunday in May

We went out for breakfast as usual on Sunday and then came home to read the newspapers.

We got an email that a good friend of ours from our RV park in Florida has died from complications of diabetes.  The last I remember him was at morning coffee.  He got a phone call and we heard him say "I am retired and I don't have any outstanding student loans and never have, leave me alone."  Made us all laugh.

We had rib leftovers and corn-on-the-cob for dinner.

Cleaning, dinner and snow

I got a lot done today but still more to do.  Cleaning the shower is a major job!

We went to TGI Friday's for dinner.  They had full rack of ribs for $12, but then we added Long Island Tea!

Saw this on the internet, looks a lot like a friend who is working at Old Faithful Bookstore in Yellowstone and camping near-by!

Shopping again

Today I went to Kohl's.  They keep me coming back - I had a coupon for $10 and then another $10 coupon from the newspaper.  I bought things that were on sale so ended up spending only $20 for a full bag.  I got a winter sweater for $3.40!

Then we went to CVS Pharmacy and finally to HyVee Foods.  Did well at HyVee getting their sales.  I check their app on my phone and there was a coupon for a free box of fudgesicles!

We brought home Panera for dinner.

Shopping and eating

Don got a couple ebay items ready to mail and then we went to Menards (again) and Cub Foods.  Grabbed some McDonalds' for lunch.  We had leftovers for dinner.

We cleaned out before we lived full time in our motor home, but it is starting to build up again!

Eating and shopping

We ate breakfast at Panera and then went to Walmart, Aldis and Menards.  I took my new paperwork in to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles for a new handicap tag.  Then home.

In the afternoon we planted what we purchased the other day from Bachmans.  Stayed home for dinner.

A little more rain

The carpenter came today to fix a ceiling problem.  Of course he was late, expected that.
 It rained overnight and sprinkled this morning.  Weather suppose to get better.

We got hair cuts and shopped at Target getting some pop.  Then stayed in the rest of the day.

SUN

Finally we see the sun even if more rain is forecast today.
The day started with noise from tree trimmers.  They trimmed the evergreens up from the bottom.  I don't really like the look of the trees now but it is nice to get some light in our front windows!  We cleaned the house and then I went to my doctor for my annual check-up.  I couldn't eat or drink anything including coffee so was starting to shake by 11:00.  All is well!

I hadn't eaten all day so lunch at Panera's was good!  Then we got chicken from Cub Foods for dinner.

Nasty day number 2.  Still cold and rainy.  Not as cold or as rainy but still nasty - when will this eekie weather end?

We went to Baker's Square for breakfast and then to Menards Home Store.  Came home and read the Sunday papers.

It was a good nap day!  We went to Culvers for a sandwich for dinner, just needed to get out.

Nasty Day

What a NASTY day.  Rain and cold.  Around 40 degrees all day with rain and more rain.  I was thinking of going to the grocery store but talked myself out of that idea.

We went to Cracker Borrow for dinner mostly because they have a big, covered porch to walk under to keep rain off.

Chemo

This morning I went with my daughter to her chemo treatment.  She got a lot of different drugs but took it like the strong person I know.  Everyone should watch a person get chemo, it will make them thankful for the good health they enjoy!

We brought home pizza for dinner and stayed home the rest of the day/

Shopping and grilling

Don let me off at Kohl's and he want to Menards this morning.  I had a 30% off coupon for Kohl's and made good use of it.  One thing I got was a new hair blow dryer as my old one had hardly and air power anymore!  Then we got a few groceries.  It was raining on and off, finally stopped in the afternoon but stayed cloudy and cool.  I had washed and put away our sweaters and jackets thinking cold weather was over but we got them out again today.

It stopped raining long enough to grill some ham to have with corn-on-the-cob for dinner.

Rain

We went for breakfast a Panera and then to Walmart for groceries.  It rained while we were in Panera and while we were in Walmart.  Rain managed to stop when we were going and coming to our car!

It gets dark and threatening outside and then sun.  Tornado watch for this area in the afternoon.  No storms but we got a lot of rain.

New AC

We really didn't want to spend the money but we have known from the time we bought the townhouse that we would need a new air conditioner as the old one was 30+ years old and used the old environmentally unfriendly freon.  So after getting three estimates we had the new one installed today.  It took less than three hours, good to know we will keep cool this summer.

Don said it thundered off and no most of last night.  I had taken cold medicine and slept through it all.  This morning we had more thunder and a good rain.  Good thing the AC is in a sheltered area so the installers didn't get wet!

Dot and Doctor

Don was off to the doctor for his annual physical this morning.  I mopped around awhile and finally got up and picked up the junk around the house and dusted.  Don had a mostly good doctor appointment.

We fixed waffles for dinner.

Mothers' Day

Mothers' Day!  The weather is great for a change on Mothers' Day.  We went with our daughters and their families for breakfast and ate outside.  Was a good breakfast including the Bloody Mary!

My daughters gave me an Amazon Dot - I have it mostly set up and am really enjoying it.

In the evening Don and I went to Culvers for a salad and root beer.

Sun is Shinning

We  went to HyVee this morning to pick up some of their specials.  Mostly just a walking opportunity.  It is a fun store to walk in as they have a lot of interesting departments.

In the afternoon we met Brenda and Rebecca at the coffee shop and had a good visit.

The sun is shinning, not coats needed!  Trees and lilacs blooming.   May be spring!!!

Saturday

Another nice day!  We ran a couple errands in the morning and stayed home the rest of the day.

We are just not motivated, Don with his cold and I'm still taking a lot of antibiotic which I'm sure is what is slowing me down.  Certainly have no appetite.

Fresh air!

I had a follow up with my doctor from my hospital stay for cellulitis.  All is well.  Then we went to Panera for breakfast followed by visits to Target, Aldi and Walmart.  We opened up our windows for awhile in the afternoon, good to get some fresh air inside!

We made a decision on which air conditioner to buy.  Don called the other two to tell them no thanks, one was not too happy.  Installing next Tuesday all ready!  Will be good to have that off our summer list.

Nice Wednesday

Another nice day, so good to see the sun after so many cold and rainy days.  The second and third of the air conditioner salespeople came to give us an estimate.  Now we have to make a choice.

Just stayed home for dinner.

Nice Tuesday

Went in for a mammogram today and then to Cub Foods for a few things.  What a nice day to be outside.  On the way home we took the car through a car wash (and about time).

We stayed home the rest of the day except to get some taco's for dinner.

Stay at home day

Managed to clean the house.  I think all the antibiotic I have taken has made me tired.  We stayed home all day except for a quick trip to where the motorhome is stored to give them our insurance information and security deposit.  Checked the MH and it is fine.

Finally got to go home from the hospital today.  The redness on my leg has received a lot but still some.  Have pills to take and am suppose to see my regular doctor later next week.

Good to be home but much to do.  Started washing clothing, picking up stuff, putting away things, etc. until I had a major need for a nap.  Will be nice not to be awoken in the night for blood pressure and other tests and for an IV to be started.

Don still has the bad cold.

A day in the hospital

Thought I might be able to leave the hospital today but no such luck.  My leg is better but still a lot of red.  At least this is a nice hospital, compared to Florida it's heaven to their hell.  The people are very nice and helpful and follow through.

Don has a bad cold, I encouraged him to stay home and rest.

Motorhome bedded down for the summer, Me bedded down in the hospital

We got a call already that the motorhome was done being worked on.  So we went to get it and then took it to storage - across the southern suburbs.  The AC worked!

After we got it parked, I told Don we might as well to to the urgent care clinic as the cellulitis on my leg was spreading fast.  The doctor said I had to go to the hospital, wanted to call an ambulance and I said NO, Don would take me.  I was admitted after a long process and an IV started.

Motorhome

Out to the motorhome this morning to clean the floors and empty the tanks.  Then we took it in for the air conditioner repair, hopefully this time it get done.

Later we went to our new storage site to sign the forms and pay in advance.  We don't know when our motorhome will be fixed so at least have someplace to go.  What a hassle.

SUN

The sun is shining!  Still on the cool side, but finally seeing the sun is a treat.

We went to Jimmy John's for their promotion of $1 subs.  Had to stand in line a little while but when we left there was a huge line.  We got a call that a storage site for the motorhome had opened up, a secure site.  Fence around it, lights, cameras, etc.  That makes me fill a lot better than parking the motorhome on someone's back lot.

Happy May Day!

When I was a kid we gave out May baskets on the first of May.  Little baskets filled with candy and a crocus flower that we picked in the wild.  Kids of today would think that was really silly, but probably eat the candy anyway!

We have another cold and wet day.  I can only hope that the weather improves.

Clean the house day again, I don't know how the two of us get it so dirty.  I made rhubarb sauce with the rhubarb Brenda gave me.  It is wonderful hot over ice cream.
