Groceries, Newspapers and Cards

This morning we went to HyVee for a few groceries, they have good stuff on sale.  Did some laundry and other stuff around the house.  Read the newspapers.

I fixed dinner and we watched another episode of House of Cards, it just gets weird.  Love it.

IKEA day

We went to IKEA this morning for breakfast, had not gone for breakfast before this.  We had scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage and Swedish pancakes with Lingonberry jelly.  All for $2 which included their very good coffee.  Then we shopped the whole store picking up a few small things, it got to be lunch time so back to the cafe for the $3 lunch of noodles, marinara sauce, meatballs and garlic bread, tea included.  After that we stopped by the Market Place and got a bag of frozen meatballs, Lingonberry Jelly and a bag of coffee, and Don picked up a tin of 6 large cinnamon rolls for $4.  The Swedish pancakes are like my Swedish Aunt used to make.

After all this a nap was in order for the afternoon and then we went to Panera for a sandwich and salad for dinner.  Trifecta of eating out!

Busy Day

It thundered during the night, looked like it may have rained a bit.  We got a real rain storm mid-morning.  Our newspaper was wet.  We have a substitute paper deliver person who leaves it in the middle of our driveway rather than by our front door that has a roof above.  AND he had it in one bag, our usual person will double bag the paper on a rainy day.  I wanted to call the newspaper office, but Don said to let it go so we have newspaper drying all over the living and dinning room!

I cleaned my bathroom cupboards inside and polished them outside.  Shoulder hurting again.  Lots more places to clean.

In the afternoon we went to the show "Wonder Woman".  It was good, action packed.  We had leftovers for dinner and then daughter Brenda came over for a visit.  She brought me a big hanging plant, very nice!

Panera, Walmart and home

We had breakfast at Panera this morning and then went to Walmart.  When we got home it was so nice outside we sat on the deck to read the newspaper.

In the afternoon we did stuff around the house and had BQ ribs and potato salad for dinner.

Just a Monday

A nice cool day to clean the house.  I polished the kitchen cupboards, the polish makes them look a lot better.  But made my back feel worse.


We brought home chicken for dinner and watched a dumb show from Netflix.

Cold Sunday

We went for breakfast at Bakers Square and then a quick trip to Cubs for lettuce.  (Now that was exciting!)  Came home and read the Sunday newspapers.

Sheila came over in the afternoon for a visit.  Later we grilled pork chops and had them with corn-on-the-cob and cantaloupe.

Oven and dinner

I "cleaned" the very dirty oven today.  That means I pulled a handle over to lock the door and set the dial on "clean".  Bad smelling smoke came pouring out of the vent for awhile, good we had the windows open and fans on.

We went to dinner at TGI Fridays, they had a good rib special.  They are not busy like there have been in the past.

Rain, again

It rained on and off all day.  We went to Menards and Kohl's.  It started raining hard enough while I was in Kohl's that I could hear it on the roof.  Don also went to CVS and then we picked up lunch at McDonald's.

We stayed home the rest of the day, fixed chicken for dinner.

Fruit and muffins

This morning after we got gas in the car and went to the post office, we went to HyVee Groceries.  They had a lot of good stuff on sale, a big sale on their fruit.  They had samples of Jack fruit, the largest fruit they said.  I won't need any more.  We bought more groceries than normal.  (And Don bought more bakery items then usual.)

We went to Paneras for dinner and watched some shows on Netflix.

First day of summer

The first full day of summer.  We went out for breakfast and then to Walmart and Cub Foods.  In the afternoon we sat outside awhile.  The sun was very intense so not long before I felt my skin burning.  Moved to the shady side for awhile.

Don picked two of his patio plant tomatoes.  We had one for dinner, was good!

Pirates

Don is working hard on identifying Sheila's Humble figurines and listing them on Ebay.  One he can not find so it is either very rare or not a Humble.  I looked for awhile and did figure out the marking on the bottom.

We took down and washed my coffee mug collection which is on top of the kitchen cabinets.  It has been two years, not too dirty but look much brighter.

In the afternoon we went to the new show "Pirates of the Caribbean" 3D with Johnny Depp.  It was fun, we've see all the series.  Then we stopped for tacos to bring home for dinner.

Slow day

I hate Mondays as it is clean the house day.  It never takes too long, just putting stuff where it belongs is the worst part.  We sat outside for awhile in the afternoon, I fixed dinner. We got back on Netflix and watched one new episode of House of Cards. Slow day!

Nice Day for 100% rain prediction

We sat outside on our deck for a couple hours this morning, read the papers and watched the neighborhood.  It was such a nice morning and to think 100% rain was forecast!  We finally had to come inside and get some work done.

In the evening we went to Panera for salads.

Fathers Day

We went our daughters and families for brunch for Father's Day.  Always an enjoyable time to visit!  They gave him nice gifts as well!

Then it was home to read the Sunday papers and take a nap.

We grabbed a bit to eat at Culvers in the evening.  Don enjoyed his day!

Busy Firday

First out to breakfast at Panera, then to Target.  Followed by a trip to HyVee Foods, home to put away freezer stuff and then back out to the motorhome.  Got the motorhome done and don't have to go back for a month!!!

I got the results from the colostomy.  5 polyps were aggregates. just skin.  One was adenomatous - potential for cancer.  I have to have another test in 5 years.  I won't start thinking about that for 4.9 years.

We brought home Chinese Food for dinner.  Later started watching on TV a show about Nixon's Watergate problems.  So interesting and such a parallel to what is going on today in politics.

Motorhome check

We went to check on the motorhome which is in storage.  We usually check it in a month but has been 6 weeks.  Guess we were just tired of it after all the stress it caused us in April.  All was fine, batteries down some.  No storm damage from the several storms that have passed over it in the last month.  BUT we have to go back tomorrow as Don forgot to take some tool to do something.

We stayed home the rest of the day, grilled hot dogs for dinner.

Eating again

Got up at 5:30 to take the rest of the colonoscopy prep stuff.  The colonoscopy wasn't as bad as the prep, the staff at the place was friendly and professional.  They found 6 small polyps and sent to lab so I won't have the results until next week, could be nothing or at worst precancerous.  Been through this before so not worried.

Then we went out for "brunch",  I hadn't eaten real food since Monday night and no coffee for two days.  Drank 4 cups of coffee to make up for lost time!

Then it was time for a nap!

Eekie

Today I have had to start my prep for a colonoscopy tomorrow.  That means I can only have clear liquids and then in the afternoon drink a half gallon of eekie liquid to flush me out.

I was a bit shaky for lack of food but we went to Walmart.  Needed a few things and the exercise.  We had a big storm headed our way in the morning but it went north of us.  Very humid out.

In the evening I got sick from the prep.  Not a good time but made it through.

Monday again

Clean the house day, eek.  We had a storm heading right for us in the morning but it decided to go straight east rather than north east.  It did rain in the late afternoon.

We stayed home all day!

Stormy Sunday

We got up thinking we were going out for breakfast like we do on Sunday's but a very mean looking line of weather was coming our way and decided we did not want to be out in that stuff.  We first got wind, then heavy rain with a little hail.  We had leaves down in the street, no damage like other places around the area had.

In the afternoon we made a trip to Menards.  Otherwise we read the Sunday papers.  We grilled salmon for dinner.

We had another session of rain, but this time the sun was shinning - go figure!  Sheila came over in the evening and we had a good visit.

Hot, windy day

As advertised on the weather reports, today was hot, humid and windy.  We drank our second cup of  morning coffee on the deck thinking it would be too hot to be outside in the afternoon.  Came inside and did some stuff around the house.

It did get up to 92 degrees in the afternoon, good to stay in with the air conditioning!  We went to Panera for dinner.

Zach's grad party

We worked around the house today.  We both also started on the computer the AARP Smart Driver for old people.  As boring as it is we get a discount on auto insurance for taking the course.  Fortunately only have to take the course every 4 years or so.  Who knows maybe we will learn something.

In the evening we went to our grandson Zach's graduation party.  His parents do an excellent job of entertaining.  We first sat and visited with Brenda and Dan and Kazia, Dusty and Holland.  They left and before we could get up Ken's brother Greg and wife Tracy sat down with us.  We had a nice visit with them.  Stayed a total of 2 hours, surprised ourselves!

TV in the AM, Theatre in the PM

We watched the Senators question former Director of the FBI Comey.  Very interesting - time will tell what meaning it all has to our country.

In the afternoon we went to the show "Snatched" which was funny but like a sitcom.  Good to actually go to a theatre!  We stopped by Culvers for a dinner sandwich and ice cream afterward.

53rd Anniversary

This is our 53rd wedding anniversary.  We went to Panera for breakfast and then to Walmart.  In the evening we went to Red Lobster for dinner, actually had lobster along with shrimp prepared like the lobster.

Slow day

Time to clean the house.  Didn't get much else done.  I got a call from Sam's Club Pharmacy that I had a prescription to pick up, didn't know anything about that.  Turns out my doctor inadvertently sent a prescription there which is Ok as I will need it eventually.  So went there to pick it up on the way to get badly needed gas for the car.

Sheila's birthday celebration

This morning I got dishes, etc. put away from having guests for dinner yesterday.  Then suddenly remembered I should get Sheila's birthday gifts ready.

We went out to eat with daughter Sheila and her family and daughter Brenda.  Afterward they all came to our house for Sheila's birthday cake.

Family visit

Family from South Dakota came for a visit today.  We visited the afternoon away and then served dinner to them and daughter Sheila.  Was great to see them, glad they could include us on their vacation!

Graduation

Late last night we got the news company is coming Sunday rather than Tuesday or Wednesday.  I like to have everything planned out so it muddled my mind for awhile.  Our kids and families who were coming for dinner mid week have plans and for the most part can't come.

So we had to go get some groceries today, dust a little, put stuff away a lot.

On the bright side our grandson Zach is graduating from High School tonight!  He made the most of those four years including getting very good grades.

Sun

It was off to Menards this morning, they had a great new sale.  I got several things including a new knife set for the house and a set for the motorhome.  Now I'm going to get rid of those awful things that can't cut butter.

Then we went to HyVee picking up their good sales.

We sat outside in the sun for awhile this afternoon.  I was the first to move to the shade, felt my skin burning.  After awhile in the shade we got too warm and moved inside.  Great to have nice weather finally.

We did some things around the house that need to be done once a year like dust the ceiling fans, clean some cupboards, etc.  We aren't accustomed to working so hard!

After recovering (a nap) we got sandwiches from Arby's for dinner.
