Hot again

We actually got something done today.  We got my coffee mug collection on top of the kitchen cupboards washed.  They were very dusty from the winter reconstruction of our house.  They look so nice now.  It didn't take long, took longer to decide to do the job.

There were a hail, wind and tornados in western South Dakota yesterday where family lives.  Some damage to their property but cars along the Interstate highway had all the glass knocked out by huge hail stones.  Lots of trees down as well.

It is another hot day.

Hot ole day!

HyVee this morning for groceries.  It was already hot and humid outside.  It was good to stay home and hug the air conditioner the rest of the day.  We did go out to Chili's for dinner.  I guess we weren't very hungry, probably because of the heat.  We brought half of our meals home.

Incredible

We went to the show The Incredibles.  We enjoyed it, hadn't seen the first one so may try to catch it on TV.  In the morning we went to Paneras for breakfast and then to Walmart for groceries and stuff.  Busy day for us!

We brought home food from Arby's for dinner.

 

Ikea again

We went to IKEA today.  We wanted two more dining room chairs, only 4 were in stock last time.  We had breakfast at IKEA and plenty of their great coffee and then did our shopping.  Picked up a few little things as well as the chairs.  The chair come in two parts so fit nicely in our car.

Don put the chairs together right away.  So we are caught up on our IKEA needs - for awhile.

Hair and Hare

We got hair cuts today at a place close-by.  For once we didn't have to wait, in fact it looked like they were waiting for us.  Afterwards we went to Target for a few things and a nice walk.

It had looked like rain all morning and started to sprinkle about the time we got home.  Being Taco Tuesday, we got Tacos for dinner.

Asparagus

Clean the house day.  For some reason the kitchen was particularly dirty.  Clean now!

We had leftovers for dinner along with some fresh asparagus that I roasted in the oven.  The asparagus turned out very good.


New look to our dining room.  Oak table Don made 20+ years ago.  New chairs and new display cases. Old dishes.

Nice Sunday

We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then to Fleet Farm for a few things.  Came home to read the papers.  Our daughters came over in the afternoon.  It has looked like rain on and off but didn't get any.  Very humid outside.

We grilled pork chops for dinner and also had corn-on-the-cob.

Nation Flamingo Day

It was my turn at the display cases.  Don brought in my boxes of stuff from my china closet that I had packed last December.  I got everything out as I wasn't sure how much would fit, I ended up repacking one box of things.  He helped me wash everything and I arranged them in the cases.  Took awhile!  Looks nice.

We went to TGI Fridays for dinner, place was busy.  It was a nice day for a change.

We went to HyVee for groceries.  Cherries, peaches and asparagus were all on sale and looked very nice.  They had cheese and half sandwiches of cheese and beef for sampling.  All I needed was something to drink!

We went to Panera for dinner, they messed up my order so ended up with two salads!

Children

The good news is Trump finally came to his senses and is letting the immigrant children be reunited with their parents.  The problem being getting them together as all have been moved around so much.  Trump's daughter is the one to thank for his reversal even though he said it would take an act of congress.  I am just glad the children will soon be reunited with their parents and can begin to heal from this awful trama.

It is rainy again today.  So humid!  Don is working on assembling the last of our purchase from IKEA, the display stands.  My job is to not let the glass fall!

Cloudy again

We went to Panera for breakfast today and then to Aldi's and Walmart for groceries, etc.  Walmart was busy for some reason, unusual for a weekday morning.

In the afternoon I finished the book "Bringing home Columbia" about the space shuttle that blew apart over Texas.  We were in Texas at the time, not far from the area.  I remember the announcements on TV - do not go near any wreckage, call NASA if you even think you find something.  A couple weeks later we went to the NASA Houston headquarters.  It was like a morgue, people were hurting.  We stayed for a briefing on the status of the debris collection.

It was supposed to be sunny today, but of course not - getting tired of the clouds.

The news is full of the stories of the children separated from their families in the Rio Grande Valley.  How sad and maddening at the same time. 

Ocean's 8

Thunder during the night again and rain, not just sprinkles, all day.  Nice and humid---

We got tired of looking out at the rain so went to the show "Ocean's 8".  We enjoyed the show, good to see a show where there is not guns, bombs, killing.  Just a fun show.  For once the theater was about half full, guess everyone wanted to escape the dingy day.

There was a thunderstorm during the night and rain on and off all day.  Very humid.  We cleaned the house without the AC on and suffered.  Or at least I suffered.  We finally turned on the AC.

We got chicken for dinner at KFC and ran a couple other errands.

Father's Day

Father's Day - we went out for breakfast with our daughter Brenda and daughter Sheila and family.  We had a good visit, didn't realize so many people were waiting for a table until we got up to leave.  Came home and read the newspapers.  Darn hot out today.

We stayed home the rest of the day.  Grilled bacon wrapped sirloin steak for dinner.

HOT and HUMID

I was supposed to be a fairly nice day but instead rained in the morning and stayed overcast the rest of the day.

We made a quick trip to Menards and Kwik Trip and stopped by McDonalds for some hamburgers for lunch.  We brought home Chinese Food for dinner.  Slow day but good to stay by the AC.

Hot day

We went for breakfast at Panera's and then to HyVee for a very few groceries.  In the afternoon I had an appointment with a different podridist than I have been seeing.  I was not getting any help with my problems.  This one seems more aggressive in treating the problems.  Hope it works out.

It got really hot and humid out today.  Rain storms threatened all afternoon but they didn't stop by here.  We got hamburgers from 5 Guys for dinner.  They are always so good.

Sleep

Don is still not at 100%.  We did get a good night's sleep so I feel better but my back is hurting again.  I don't know what I did to cause it to be bad again.  I hear about Don's health about every 10 minutes.

Nice day, we went to Culvers for a sandwich and some frozen custard.

No dents on the car!

Don went in for his colonoscopy today.  They found three polyps, will know what kind later.  He has to go back in next year as they couldn't complete the procedure.

He was given drugs and couldn't drive for 12 hours so I had to drive.  I don't drive often at all but all went well, didn't scare either on of us.  We even went to Perkins for potato pancakes.  I watched him feel better and better as he got some food and coffee!

We were up at 3:30 AM so very tired and came home to take a nap.  Today is lawn mowing day, they use two big riding mowers, a gas trimmer and a gas blower so it is very noisy.  Sure enough we laid down for a nap and along comes the crew!

By evening Don was eating well but very tired.  He will feel better tomorrow even if he doesn't think he will.


Florida camping?

Poor Don

Poor Don can't eat anything but clear liquids today in preparation for his colonoscopy tomorrow.  I feel I should also eat clear liquids but he didn't last year when I was doing the same.  So no, I will eat normal, sorry Don.  We made a post office run this morning.  I is suppose to be bright and sunny but is dark and damp.

Home day

It looked like it could rain any second all morning.  Dark and humid.  We got the house picked up and cleaned and a egg souffle ready to put in the oven for dinner tonight.  We had to make a Walmart trip and get gas in the car, otherwise we were at home all day.

Birthday celebration

Out for breakfast at Denny's and then a stop at Walmart and CVS.  Don finished assembling the IKEA computer desk and stand and we moved it over to the wall and got the computer and printer, etc. on.  I still need to organize the drawers with our office stuff.  Will be so good to not have to stand on our heads in the closet to find an envelope!

We went to dinner at a Mongolian Barbeque for Sheila's birthday - a week late.  And then everyone came over for French Silk Pie.

More IKEA

Don continues to work on the IKEA furniture assembly.  He has all the chairs done and is working on the computer desk and extra stand.  Seems to be going well!

Grad party

Menards this morning - they have a new flyer out and we wanted to take advantage.  Of course one thing we wanted they didn't have.  Then we went to HyVee.  For some reason they were putting frozen food all over the place - perhaps their freezer need defrosting.

It looked like rain all morning.  We were concerned as our granddaughter's graduation party was this evening.  It did clear up and was nice out.  They had three kinds of pasta and three kinds of sauce along with salad and bread sticks.  Of course cake as well.  Nice party.

It is our 54 wedding anniversary.  We went for breakfast at Panera and in the afternoon went to the movie "Solo, A Star Wars Story" in 3D.  For dinner we went to Red Lobster, good food but I think I ate too much as I didn't feel to great afterwards.  Got better before bed.

The show was good, we enjoyed.  We had heard it was not great but then if everyone else doesn't like a movie, we probably will!

Rain

It rained during the night, Don said he heard thunder but I didn't.  I take Aleve for my back and it makes me sleep sound.  We did stuff around the house in the morning.  Our furniture from IKEA that was supposed to arrive this afternoon was moved to this evening.  So much for making plans.

My back feels better, am trying to not do anything that will cause a strain.  It seems like everything I touch lands on the floor which picking it up is not a good move.

IKEA again

IKEA again today.  We went for their good (cheap) breakfast and then ordered the furniture we want delivered.  They only had 4 of the dining room chairs on hand so will need to get the other two later.  Also getting 2 display cases, a computer desk and matching stand with drawers.  Now I will be able to organize our office supplies rather than going on a major search in the closet everytime we need something.

It took awhile to get that done and look around some so we stayed for lunch.  My back felt better after walking at IKEA but later it felt much worse than it had before the walking.  Guess I need to keep walking all the time.

The Homeowners Association's insurance adjuster came for a final walk-thru in the afternoon.

Let there be light!

Time to clean the house again, eek.  At least the sun is shining and we have some nice weather coming. 

A electrician came to fix our living room light/fan that hasn't worked after our home repair.  It took him about 2 minutes to find the problem and get it fixed.  Good to have the light/fan (with remote) back in use!  Now everything should be done with the house. 

We got KFC chicken for dinner.  My back still hurts a lot but somewhat better than yesterday.

Birthday and back

It's our daughter Sheila's birthday today.  She had a busy day so we will celebrate later.  We went out for breakfast and then to "church" at Menards.

We were putting fresh sheets on the bed when I bent over to grab a sheet and my back suddenly went into total pain.  I took some ibuprofen and laid down on a heating pad, then it felt better but still hurt a lot.  It hurt for the rest of the day, I finally got out the back brace I wore after back surgery three years ago, that helped some.

Cold out

Turned cold today.  We had gotten accustomed to the heat but hardly got into the 60's today with a little rain.

We did things around the house, good to stay home and get stuff done.  We bought in Chinese food for dinner.

Granddaughter Brianna graduated high school today!

Grad party

For once we ate breakfast at home!!!  Then we went to HyVee for some groceries.

In the evening we went to Logan's High School graduation open house.  It couldn't have been a more perfect evening to sit outside.  Good food - a taco bar.
