Nice weather!

We went for breakfast at HyVee, they had a special.  Then did our grocery shopping.  It feels good to have windows open a bit and get some fresh air inside!

It got up to 88 degrees today, high for the year. 

In the evening we were back to HyVee for Chinese Dinners to bring home.

No coats!

We had bagels at Panera and then went to look at walkers that my doctor recommended for me.  With the Medicare discount they are still less expensive at Amazon.  Then we went to Menards, Don needed on thing.  I went in just for some exercise and together we bought a cart full!

A nice day, didn't need wraps to go outside even this morning.  Brenda signed the papers selling her house.  We brought home dinner.

Worst part, no coffee

Fun day, not.  Today was my annual physical, all is well - just not what I like to do.  I couldn't eat or drink for 12 hours before my lab tests so afterwards we went to Denny's for breakfast.

The sky was blue, then while I was in the clinic it turned cloudy.  It rained some and then got nice again.  Don worked on the deck and painting lawn chairs.  We ate dinner at home.

Celebrating Taco Tuesday

At least partly sunny today.  The severe weather is getting closer, hope it doesn't make it here.  Did stuff around the house,  I didn't feel like fixing dinner so we got tacos - after all it is Taco Tuesday.

Memorial Day

Raining again.  Two nice days and then rain.  We cleaned the house, nothing better to do.

This is Memorial Day, it has always been a day to honor our fallen soldiers and to remind us of the family and friends we have lost.  It is also a day off work or many, banks and government offices closed.  Called the unofficial start of summer, so where is summer?

We went to Menards for their BIG Memorial Day sale, got a few things and then to dinner at Panera.

Top 10 weather day!

Woke up to sunshine!  That makes getting out of bed easier.  We had breakfast at Denny's and came home to read the Sunday Newspapers.

Our daughters came for a visit in the afternoon, we grilled smoked pork chops for dinner.

Nice Saturday!

Nice day, a break from the rain!  Don got the shrub roses planted, now we hope the rabbits don't like roses to eat. 

We did stuff around the house, went to Culvers for dinner.  We heard their fish was very good, we would give it an OK.

I hope ours look this good someday!

Walking in the rain into HyVee.

We woke up to more rain, was suppose to clear by noon - did not.  This rain is getting old, the good news is we are not having the storms like south of us.  I feel for them, must be terrible to have your house swept away in seconds.

We went to HyVee grocery store for breakfast and shopping.  Among other things we got our first watermelon of the summer.   Rain stopped and the sun came out during the late afternoon.  Got our dinner at Arby's - Reuben sandwiches.

Ikea, etc.

We went to IKEA today.  Started with their good breakfast and then walked the whole store.  We bought some meat balls, cookies, jam and coffee.  The receipt was all in Swedish.

In the afternoon we met with people from the homeowners management company concerning things that need to be done around the house.  Then a "meeting" on the phone with my financial person.  Busy day for us!

Cold, wet - again

We went to Panera for bagels this morning and then to Walmart for a few things.  Rained the whole time.  Finally by noon it stopped raining and cleared some.

It was so cold I made a casserole in the oven for dinner.


This weather makes me wish in were in Hawaii,
actually I would like to be there anytime!

Rain, Rain go away

Since we were out yesterday for doctor and plant shopping we cleaned the house today.  I woke up with a headache which just got worse so I finally took some ibuprofen and felt better.

It was cold and rainy all day.  French Toast seemed to be a good cold, rainy night dinner.

Flowers and plants

Don had his annual doctor appointment today so I went along, just sat in the car.  Then we went flower shopping.  We found what we wanted, I could have spent a lot more.

It was cool today but the sun shining which made it feel nice.  Hot in the car!

In the late afternoon Brenda came for a visit.  She stayed and ate dinner with us, she had something with her that she could eat along with some of our food.

Rainy Sunday

We went to breakfast in the rain at Cracker Barrel this morning.  Then we were going to shop for flowers but it was cold and raining hard, so decided to try tomorrow.

Sheila came over for a visit in the afternoon.  She had also tried to flower shop but also gave up.

We couldn't grill because of the weather so had leftovers for dinner.

Josh Graduates!

It rained early this morning, sounded like there was some hail.  Our plants outside looked fine.  They are sure growing fast!  It was a dark, cool and damp day.

Our grandson, Josh, graduated from the University of Minnesota Rochester today!  We are proud of all he has accomplished.

We went to HyVee for Chinese dinners to bring home for dinner.

Trees

Third day in a row for breakfast out.  We went to HyVee "Marketplace" as they had a special.  Then did our grocery shopping, I don't know how it adds up so fast!

It looked like rain so Don planted our two new bushes, then the sun came out and it turned out to be a nice day.  We went to Chili's for dinner.  We had an excellent server, what a chance from the one at Perkins.

Spring, slow but sure

The trees by our house are blooming.  When we left for breakfast at Panera we noticed they were about to bloom, when we came home two hours later they had flowers!

We went shopping for shrubs to replace the ones that are dying by our garage.  We tried to find rabbit proof ones but were told that is impossible.  We got a couple spirea bushes, will see how they do.  Also want to get some shrub roses, they might not be so decilions to the rabbits.  Want to get some potted plants but have a strong feeling there will be sales on them this weekend!

It is another beautiful day, picked up some more sun plant shopping.  Got up to 81 degrees.

We got grilled pork chops from HyVee Grocery for dinner.  They came with sweet corn and potatoes.  Very good!

Nice Day!

The flowering trees by us are just starting to bloom - two weeks later than usual.  They are always so pretty, too short of time in bloom.

We went to Perkins for breakfast, had a rude server.  Among other things we had to ask 3 times for more coffee in our carafe.    She finally brought it and another cup for some reason.  Slammed the cup down and filled it with coffee.  Said "hope you are happy now".  I wanted to say something when we paid but Don never wants to get involved.

In the afternoon we sat on the deck in the sun and read for a very short time.  I could feel my super white skin burning.  We had a storm go thru during the night blowing one tomato over, it looks a bit sick today but think it will come back.

We grilled brats for dinner.

I had an appointment this morning so we drank a quick cup of coffee and left.  Got home around 10 AM in time to finish the pot of coffee.

We opened some windows, feels good to get fresh air inside.  The trees by hour house are just starting to bloom.  I planted by flower boxes on the deck.

Cleaning house again.  What a joy.  The good part is getting it DONE. 

A nice day and hopefully will be a nice week as forecast.

Mother's Day!

We met our daughters, son-in-law and grandson this morning for Mother's Day Brunch.  Food was good, Bloody Mary's good, coffee good.  Best was getting together and visiting.  They gave me nice gifts which I will enjoy.

Don planted his tomatoes and got the railing planters ready for my flowers.  We got salads for dinner, still not too hungry.

Saturday

Brenda called early this morning wanting us to go out to breakfast with her to celebrate her first solo flight which she had just done.  We got dressed quickly and joined her.

Don power washed the deck, air conditioner and deck furniture.  For dinner we got wraps from Chick-Fil-A. 


Plant shopping!

Shopping

We went to Target to look for luggage as the handle off our very old one broke.  Then to HyVee for groceries followed by a trip to Bachman's for tomato and flower plants.  Lunch time so to McDonalds.

I got my ny new Kindle from Amazon.  My 8 year old very well used one will not hold a charge.  The new one has all sorts of new stuff of course.  Will take awhile to get it set up like I want.

I also got by Fed Ex a Hydengeria plant form Brenda and Scott and Kazia and family.  Very pretty and in a nice glass mosaic pot.

Cold, is it May?

Some places in Minnesota had snow, we didn't.  The rain cleared out in the morning, the sun cam out in the afternoon.

Again we went for bagels at Panera and then we went to Fleet Farm for a couple things Don needed.

In the evening we went to Red Lobster for their early dinner special.  I wore my heavier coat, the sweater I wore this morning just wasn't enough.

Soup kind of day

A cold and wet day.  We went to Panera for breakfast today and then to Walmart.  Didn't need much but didn't want to be stranded inside all day.  It was sprinkling when we went into Walmart and raining when we came out.  The temp fell all day.

It seemed like a soup day so I made vegetable soup for dinner.

Hair and tuna

Hair cuts today, she cut mine too short, good thing it grows fast.  Guess it is better than it was!  Other than a trip to get bread, we went home and stayed.

I fixed tuna noodle casserole for dinner, not Don's favorite but he's not coming up with any ideas for meals so her gets what he gets!


Granddaughter Becca graduated summa cum laude from college
last Saturday.  Today is her 22nd birthday!

Camper Eggs

Monday again, the only good thing is I don't have to go to a job.  I do have to work at home -  cleaning.

It is another rare nice day, too bad we didn't get out.  We had "camper eggs" for dinner - scrambled eggs with pepperoni, mushrooms and cheese and rolls from a tube.  Haven't done that for a long time!

Cinco de Mayo

We went for breakfast at Denny's.  It was so hot in there that it was uncomfortable, turns out their thermostat was broken.  Came home and read the Sunday newspaper and did stuff around the house.

Grandson Josh got back from 3 months in Kenya today, anxious to see him!

We grilled steak and had corn-on-the-cob for dinner.

Today was suppose to be the nice day of two weeks.  It was nice out, but didn't spend much time out.

We had Olive Garden leftovers for dinner.  Not an exciting day.

May the 4th be with granddaughter Rebecca - she graduated from college today!

Chewbacca

We had bagels at Panera for breakfast.  Like usual they were out of our favorite kind.  I don't see why they don't make more if they are so popular.  At least they had coffee today.

Then to the post office where Don sent 7 ebay packages.  A one day all time high!  From there to HyVee.  I like the store but sometimes, like today, they are stocking the shelves and freezer.  They seem to forget there are customers who might want something where they are "parked".

We went to Olive Garden for dinner.  Had not been there forever.  The prices seemed high to us but we got good meals and even took some home - dinner tomorrow.  So considering two meals for each of us price not so bad!


Actor Peter Mayhew died today, he was Chewbacca!

Slooooooooow day

Forecast:  Sun, warmer.  What a joke!

Slow day.  Had frozen fish for dinner.


At least I should get a free donut or coffee or pay.

Happy May Day

First of May, no sun, no flowers, no spring.  At least no snow.  We went for breakfast at Perkins for their potato pancakes and the to Aldi's and Walmart.  When we came out of Walmart their was a cold mist in the air, enough to turn on our car's window wipers.

We stayed home the rest of the day, had French toast for dinner.
