Last day of Feburary

 When we got up today we put on yesterday's clothing and went directly to Cracker Barrow.  They were not busy at all so we got our breakfast, ate it before the crowds started arriving.  Then we went to the grocery store and did a little shopping.  Good to shop someplace other than Walmart - miss my HyVee store at home.

In the morning we read the newspaper and in the evening watched the Sunday news shows.  Talked to daughter Brenda in the afternoon and daughter Sheila in the evening.

It was 88 degrees today, AC ran most of the time.

Vaccine Appointments

 WE GOT VACCINE APPOINTMENTS

I heard Walmart was starting to give covid vaccines so I got on their web site and found available time slots on Wednesday at a town about 20 miles away.  I got us times together even.  This is great because we really didn't want to travel north without vaccines - gas stations, rest stops, restaurants, motels - all places for the virus to be hiding.  We also wanted to be protected when we see our family again rather than a petri dish of who knows what.

Now we have a full week coming up.

We went to Arby's for sandwiches for dinner.  Another hot day in the 80's.

RIP Kip

 We went to a memorial service for a friend who died from Covid.  He and his wife figured they got the virus from the same place.  She had like a bad cold for a few days, he died after being on a ventilator.  So sad, he was 78 years old, healthy and very active - the type of person who couldn't sit still.  He will be missed.

It was a hot day, we turned on the AC when we got home at noon.  It ran off and on all afternoon and evening.

We went into Bushnell to pick up one restaurant's Friday special - steak and shrimp.  Was good as usual.

Getting stuff done!

 We went to 10AM coffee by the swamp.  A good group of people today.  When we came home Don began to clean out our shed.  A trip to the trash dumpster for him.  I did some things inside that I had intended to do for awhile.

Again today it started out cool with the furnace on and then warmed to low 80"s so we turned the AC on.  Then cool in the evening.

We had lasagna for dinner, leftovers for another meal.

McDonalds, Walmart and more windows

We went to McDonalds for breakfast then to Walmart for groceries.  We came home to finish washing the windows.  I even got out to the car to wash the inside of the windows which get a haze on them.  Finally we pronounced our window washing gig DONE!

It was a warm day after a cool night - heat in the morning, AC in the afternoon.

We had buffalo boneless chicken wings for dinner.

Window washers we are

 Nice day - nice day to finally wash the windows.  We have a lot of windows, in the living and kitchen area of our trailer it is all windows on the front and one side.  Then hall and bedroom windows.  We didn't get them all done, our arms were getting sore.  The ones we did get done look really nice!  We did some in the late morning and some in the afternoon.

For dinner, I needed something that took little energy to prepare, we had chicken fried steak from the freezer.  It was OK don't know if we will get it again.

National Margaretta Day

 Cleaned house as usual, I am still tired today from yesterday I guess.

We celebrated National Margaretta Day at Beef O'Brady's.  They had half price Margaretta.  They were good along with their Monday hamburger special.  Only thing was there were a lot of people in their restaurant even at the early hour we went.

2/21/2021

 We got up early, skipped showers and put on our yesterday's cloths and went to Waffle House for breakfast.  It was about empty when we got there but about full when we left.  I was getting nervous with so many people around.  The food was great as usual.

Came home and took showers and got on with our Sunday chores and newspaper reading.  We were very tired for some reason - the nap felt good!

For dinner we grilled steak and had Texas toast and salad.  Watched the Sunday political shows in the evening.

Wings

 A nice day again.  Back and forth.  I got caught up on computer jobs and some other things around the house.

This is our daughter's birthday!  

We finally did get to Zaxby's for their chicken wings.  It was a good meal like usual.  Wings, fries, Texas toast.

Weather change again

 Now we are back to cold and rain.  We had the weather front go through that has been causing problems across the country.  By the time the weather gets to Florida the fronts have mostly lost their power.  We just had rain, no thunder etc.  

We stayed home all day.  I spent considerable time on the computer.  Don finished the income tax forms and electronically sent them.  We got emails back from both federal and state saying they had been accepted.  

In the evening we were going to get buffalo chicken wings for dinner at Zaxby's but more rain came and looked like it would last awhile.  So we changed dinner plans and had bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches for dinner.

Hot old day!

 Hot day, it got up to 85 degrees which broke some records.  We had the AC on in the afternoon and evening.

We went to 10 AM coffee in the morning.  A good crowd and interesting discussions.  One man, who is the provider of campground gossip wasn't there so some of his half-truths we debunked!  Don still thinks this man knows it all!  My job is then to convince Don otherwise.

Since it was nice outside we grilled a ham steak for dinner.

Winter in Florida

 We went to Walmart for groceries again today.  Seems like we don't need much but end up spending plenty.  Of course Don's beer added to the cost.  

There was a little rain today after a cold night.  The weather is so up and down - hot, cold, wet, dry.  Guess that's winter in Florida!

We had some extra eggs we needed to use so I made French toast for dinner.  A good meal on a cool evening.

Adventures with Amazon

 A nice day at last.  We went to 10 AM coffee which is outside.  There were a lot of people today, some I hadn't seen yet this winter.

I kept ordering from Amazon - first a chair cover.  Then Don said we needed RV toilet chemical so I ordered that.  Then we noticed our new printer was almost out of the "sample" black ink, so my third Amazon order.  I'm sure the office will be thrilled to get all these packages!

Being a nice day we decided to grill brats for dinner.

Presidents' Day

 Presidents' Day.  It was always a day off work for us but now that we are retired it is a day just like the rest except we get no mail.

It rained on and off today but on the warm side.  We had the AC running.  Stayed home all day - cleaned the house.

We had leftover Chinese food for dinner.

Valentines Day

Valentines Day and our engagement anniversary!

We went for breakfast at San Antonio - Florida, not Texas.  About 35 miles south of us.  We got up early to avoid any crowd.  There were few people so it was good. 

We had a tornado watch in effect all day but we got nothing more than some light rain, no storms.  The weather did mess up the Daytona 500 car race.  They finally finished about 9 PM.

For dinner we had leftovers fish from Friday night - still tasted good.  

Chinese Dinner

 Hot and humid today.  We got some rain in the morning, just clouds in the afternoon.

We picked up Chinese food for dinner.  They have picked up their game - not so much celery and bigger shrimp in our chicken, shrimp and cashews meal.  Good thing as we were thinking we might need to find another place serving Chinese food.  Tonight food was good.

Red Lobster

 One more nice day before the rain comes for a week.  We went to campground coffee, a lot of people attending today.  Good to see some people we hadn't seen this year.

In the late afternoon we went to Red Lobster in Spring Hill for an early Valentines dinner.  Our server was the worst we have had for awhile.  We waited about 15 minutes for someone to stop by our table.  He took our order and brought our cranberry ice teas.  Long wait.  Another server brought our salads (which were probably sitting waiting.)  and almost immediately our server brought our dinner.  I hate when we have no time to eat our salads before we get our meal.  We asked for salt and pepper and straws, it was obvious by this time we were not going to get them before we finished eating.  He never came to check on our meals either.  We finished and tagged him down as he was rushing past our table and we asked for to-go boxes and our bill.  Waited and waited.  Don finally stood up to get the host and then our server rushed over with the boxes and bill.  Of course it took him forever to run our credit card.  We were in the restaurant an hour and a half.  The food was good, hot and what we expected but the horrible service ruined the meal.  The complementary slice of cake he gave us didn't make up for his inefficiency.  

Now I need to decide if I want to officially complain.  I don't expect any refund or gift card but think the manager needs to know about this person.

2 cent tomato

 We went to coffee hour in the park and then to Bushnell to Walmart for our famous "couple of things" which turned out to be over $50.  When I examined the receipt at home, I noticed a big tomato we bought cost 2 cents.  Obviously a mistake but at least in our favor!

It was another hot but nice day.  Must enjoy because the next few days have rain predicted.

We had Orange Chicken from a box for dinner.  Then we watched some more of the impeachment trail.  Trump is SO guilty but will probably not be convicted.

Park news

 Still warmer today, about 87 degrees.  We had the AC on all day.  Went to 10 AM coffee outside and got a bit of sunburn.

I put pork chops in the crock pot and put the pot out on our deck to cook so as to not warm up the inside of the trailer any more than possible.  They turned out good.

Once again the park is almost full.  The big shuttlebut is that some people in the west part are going to have to move before April 1 when the park is going to redo the water, sewer and electric in that part.  Today the electric company came in the park and trimmed some trees that were close to the electric lines.  

Warm day at last

 Turned out to be a hot day, we had the air conditioner on most of the day.  About all we did was go to 10AM coffee which is outside.  There were more people so it was good to visit with some we hadn't seen for awhile.

We had leftover pizza for dinner.

Monday cleaning and hambugers

 Cleaned the house again.  

It was a nice day.  Not too hot or too cold.  In the afternoon we went to Bushnell to the post office, a quick trip to Walmart and then picked up hamburgers at Beef O'Brady's - they have a Monday special.

I finally figured out how to get the insurance forms we need to be reimbursed for our dental expenses.  They hardly could make it any more difficult.

We caught up on TV in the evening.

Spring Hill and Super Bowl

 We were awaken about 4 AM with a loud clap of thunder.  And then a second just to make sure we were awake.  I got up and unplugged electronics but by then the worst of the storm had passed.  

For breakfast we went to Spring Hill again to Perkins.  They have the best ever potato pancakes.  Then we dropped off some things to charity and also went to Aldi's grocery store.  Took most of the morning.  In the afternoon we read the newspaper.  

We recorded the Super Bowl.  Don watched the game skipping over the in-between parts.  We watched some of the half-time performance but were not enjoying it at all so skipped over most.  

Slow Saturday

 A rainy day.  Rain of and on.  We did mostly inside stuff like take a nap!

We got a pizza in the evening for dinner and watched some TV - really nothing good on TV.

We would have just seen rain.

Warming

The night was a little warmer than last night but still cold and a challenge to get the trailer warmed up. (Warmer temperatures are now forecast.)   It was just barely nice enough to go to 10 AM coffee - a little cool, the sun felt good!  Not many people, mostly men.

After coffee we went to Walmart for some groceries.  It always adds up to more than we thought it would!  We picked up hamburgers at McDonalds for lunch.

In the evening we went back to Bushnell to pick up dinner to bring home.  We had the special - steak and shrimp.  Watched some TV like usual in the evening.

Escapees Luncheon

Today it was our Escapees (camping club) luncheon in Clermont, FL.  There weren't many people there but it was good to see the people who did show up.  It's about an hour trip.  We stopped at our dentist to pay our bills and get receipts so we can clam it on insurance.  Then picked up a sub sandwich for dinner.

It was a nice day to get out and about.

Another unexciting day

 Sun is shining but still cold.  Again we didn't do much.  We both tried to do work on the computer but the internet was so slow we couldn't tolerate it.  We think it is just overloaded.  I tried to download a book onto my Kindle but two slow to even do that.  Third day I didn't even go outside.

Freezing temperatures are forecast for tonight so Don put water in our trailer's tank and will disconnect the hoses before bed so they don't freeze.

We had salads and pot pies for dinner and then watched some TV.

Cold again

 Another cold day but the sun did shine and warmed our trailer some.  I still didn't go outside.  I did stuff around the house, read, did puzzles, etc.  Just a slow day.  Too cold to go to 10 AM coffee which is outside.

 February came in like a lyon.  I guess that's March that has the lyon/lame attachment.  Anyway what a cold, windy, dark, damp day.  I managed to avoid going outside, Don was in and out a few times.

We cleaned the house and tried to keep warm.  Not much else.
