Getting hot!

 We went to Panera for a bagel this morning and then to Walmart.  Didn't need much. 

It is getting hot out again - into the 90's!

We had fish, salad and leftover biscuits for dinner.

Tuesday

 Mostly just a stay at home day.  It would cloud up and look like rain but never did rain.

Don got his hair cut and ran some errands, I stayed home and made a pasta/tuna salad for dinner.  I also made "Red Lobster" biscuits for dinner. 

House is clean - for the momet

 Clean the house day again.  Hate doing the work but it always looks so much better - mostly getting things put away/thrown away makes the most difference.

We had some rain in the afternoon again, can still use more.

For dinner we had "camper eggs" and cinnamon rolls from a can.

Good to compare!

 We went to breakfast at HyVee.  Funny thing - Don was going to order one breakfast and I was ordering a different one, but mine was $1 less.  Both breakfast's had lots of choices - meat, pancakes/toast, potatoes/fruit bowl, eggs, etc.  Once we compared, we could get the same items with either breakfast - just one cost more!

Our daughters came for a visit in the late morning.  We always enjoy them!

It rained a little later in the evening.  We noticed during the day how much yesterday's rain helped the grass.  Now the mowers have something to do this week!

Don grilled steak and we had salad and a baked potato for dinner.

RAIN

 A rainy day but don't mind as we badly need the rain. We stayed home all day only went out to pick up sandwiches at Arby's for dinner - in the rain.  Glad we have a garage and don't have to actually get wet when we come and go!

Friday and sad fish

 We went to Panera for a bagel in the morning and then went to HyVee for groceries.  Then we did things around the house.

In the evening we went to Red Lobster for their Friday fish dinner.  We were disappointed in the fish, it had no flavor and was greasy.  The Cole slaw was good and they gave us a nice size bowl.  Some places give only a small cup. Also had French fries which were so-so.  Guess we won't be back there for fish!

Thursday

 Sad news today, a 12 story condominium in Florida collapsed early today.  Not known how many are dead.  They say the building was sinking a little every year, could have been effected by salt water eating away the steel.  We will certainly know more later.  Many people missing.

It was a nice day out, we didn't do much.  I read some and did a Sudoku.  We had Orange Chicken for dinner (from a box).

Potato pancakes - again!

 Perkins for breakfast and their good potato pancakes.  Not many people there today.  Then we went to Walmart for groceries and other stuff.  Not many people when we arrived but they seemed to come in the store in hordes as we left.

We had one of the meals, spaghetti, that we bought to bring home from Olive Garden a couple weeks ago.  It was good and the right amount of food.  Also had a salad and pie for dessert.

Taco Tuesday

 Don went to Menards and purchased a new facet for the hall bathroom.  Now to get it installed!  I stayed home and did things around the house.

I did go with Don to get Taco's for dinner.  It had been a long time since we celebrated Taco Tuesday!  It was another cool day before the heat returns.

Summer!!!

 Once again, clean the house day.  It looks nice after all the hard work so I guess it is worth the effort!

We grilled brats for dinner.  It was a cool day for a change but weather reports look like it will be a warm week after today.  This is the first full day of summer and the day of the most daylight in the year!

Father's Day

 Father's Day.  Started out at breakfast with our daughters at "Mason Jar".  We had good food and good conversations.  They gave Don many fine gifts and bought our breakfast.

I suggested to Don that we then go to Menards, his favorite store, but he declined.  He probably wants to go alone so I am not rushing him!

We grilled bacon wrapped filet mignon for dinner.  Also had a salad and corn-on-the-cob.  Then we had a piece of the pie that Sheila had given Don.  Good, but a lot of food!

Saturday in Apple Valley

 Another beautiful day!  We went on a long search for an item, we finally found it and several other things that we had "lost".  We found many, many cords - for electronics we no longer have, for electricity and for who knows what!

For dinner we went to Panera and had their salad/sandwich combos.  Always good.

Shopping

 Ate breakfast at Panera and then went to Fresh Thyme for fresh fruit and vegetables .  Then it was to HyVee for groceries, lots of good sales this week so we stocked up on some items.

For dinner we brought home pizza.  Hadn't had pizza for a long time so it tasted particularly good!

Appointment

 I finally got an appointment at 9 AM today for the chest x-ray that the lung doctor wanted.  They wanted me there 10 minutes early.  I had pre-registered on the computer at home, so I didn't have to do any paperwork.  They took me right in, did the x-rays and I was out of there at 9:03.  That's what I call a good appointment!

It was another beautiful day so good to get out and about.  We had leftover tater tot casserole for dinner.

Perkin's and Walmart

 Breakfast at Perkin's this morning.  We had their good potato pancakes of course.  We had a server that must be new to Perkin's,  he seemed to have a challenge with our order and coffee cream.  He brought us two creamers, we told him we would need more for second cups of coffee so he brought 8 creamers.  After we used 1 each he started to take away the rest, we stopped him and told him we were hardly done drinking coffee.  He brought Don extra applesauce for his pancakes which Don didn't ask for and didn't need and he brought me two syrup cups, only needed part of one.

After breakfast we went to Walmart for groceries which of course came to more than predicted probably because of the huge bottle of detergent I bought.

For dinner we had leftover Chinese food.

Beautiful Day

 Don had a doctor appointment this morning, just a check-up.  I stayed home and spent some time on the computer getting caught up on things.  Don worked in the garage for awhile in the afternoon.  It was beautiful weather today, not too hot.  We really need rain but little in sight this week.

I made a tator-tot casserole for dinner.  Also had a salad and finished the rhubarb dessert.

Clean, nap, eat, watch

 We cleaned the house - again.  It gets dirty but mostly things need to be picked up.  It's hard work so a good nap was our entertainment for the afternoon.  (Actually I had not slept well last night so was extra tired.)

Don picked up Chinese dinners from HyVee.  They had a good deal just for today.  Watched some more of the "Kromesky Method" and then Don watched some TV he enjoys but I don't.  I put my headphones on and listened to music while I read.

Another not day

 We went to breakfast at Denny's.  The server remembers our order, nice yet kind of embarrassing.  Our daughters visited us in the late morning.  Read the Sunday newspaper in the afternoon.  Usual Sunday!

Don grilled smoked pork chops for dinner.  We had a salad and I roasted some asparagus.  Still had some rhubarb dessert left for after dinner.

Another hot day, in the upper 90's, too hot to be outside.

Cooler - a little

 Finally a little cooler today but next week looks like it will be hot again.  We have noticed areas where the grass is now brown, badly needs some rain.

Mostly a day around the house.  Not even Don went outside until we went to Arby's to get Ruben sandwiches for dinner.

Watched some TV in the evening.  Not an exciting Saturday.

Is it hot enough?

 We went to Panera for bagels and our free coffee, then to HyVee for groceries.  Didn't need much.  

It's yet another hot day with temps in the 90's, good day to stay inside.  Looked like stormy weather was coming our way but it disappeared when it got close.  Don't want the storms but the rain would be OK.  

For dinner we picked up Walleye fish dinners - they come with a very nice salad, al gratin potatoes and French bread.  Good meal!  We were far too full to have more of the rhubarb dessert!

Watched some more of the series "Kominsky Method".  It is funny and sad at the same time.

Today is our Granddaughter's 21st. birthday!!!

Misunderstandings

 Don continued to work on staining the deck and did get done.  This is our 8th straight day of over 90 degrees with more to come.

I called a friend I had met in Florida who is now in Ohio, we had a good 45 minute visit.  

We went to KFC to pick up chicken dinners.  In the drive-thru Don ordered "2 chicken breast combos, without the drinks.  Cole Slaw instead of mashed potatoes in each."  So we drove around to the pay and pickup window.  The kid told us an amount which seemed high but perhaps their prices had gone up.  He handed us the bag and I noticed there was just one box.  I opened it and there was one chicken breast, one biscuit and two Cole slaw bowls.  We told the kid it was wrong and we wanted 2 combos with 1 Cole slaw each.  He just couldn't seem to grasp the concept.  Finally he called for help.  Then we got another box with one breast and one biscuit and were charged another $3.  So we spent $10 for what should have been $8.  We were too frustrated to argue.    If this had been the first problem we had at the place it would be one thing but this is the second time, about a month apart, that there has been a problem.  

Kominsky

 Still very hot outside, keeping cool inside!  Except for Don, he decided to do some more staining on the deck.  I wanted him to wait until it cooled down outside but he was determined.  Meanwhile I made rhubarb dessert.  

We had left over food from Olive Garden for dinner and the rhubarb dessert.  (Which is good!)  When we set down to eat it suddenly started raining hard and rained about 15 minutes.  I'm sure the grass wash happy!

In the evening we started watching a new series in Netflix "The Kominsky Method" .  Looks like it might be something we will continue with watching.

Cruella

 We went to Panera for a bagel and to pick up to take home, their "Bakers Dozen" (13) which are discounted on Tuesday.  Then to Walmart for a few things.

Yet another hot day and no chance of cooling down - unless we get a storm, which we also do not want.  Rain is good, storms are not.

We had Chinese food leftovers for dinner.  In the evening we watched the movie "Cruella" on Disney+ thanks to Brenda.  We both enjoyed it, was action packed and spoiler - all the dogs lived.

Anniversary

 Today is our 57 wedding anniversary!  And yet another hot day.  

We celebrated by going to Olive Garden for dinner.  Usually we would have to wait for a table but not tonight.  They were maybe half full.  We had a good dinner, brought some home!  

Sunday in the heat

 Still in the heat wave, 90's every day and looks to be so all week. 

We went for breakfast at HyVee.  They have changed their restaurant again, this time back to ordering at the table.  Also have a new, more expensive menu.  Daughter Brenda came over for a visit in the afternoon.  She brought us some peonies and rhubarb.

For dinner we grilled steak and had salad and corn-on-the-cob.

Deck work in the sun

 Don put stain on the deck today, now he has some touch-up to do and he will be done.  The stain dried fast as it was mid 90's today.

We brought home Chinese food for dinner.

Hot Friday

 Don worked on the deck some more, he's about done putting in the new boards.  He had to go to Menards to pick up one more board as he was not happy with one board he had previously purchased.  I did computer stuff, always something needs to be done.

It was a record breaking hot day - 96 degrees.  We went to TGI Fridays for dinner.  We had their good ribs cooked in whiskey sauce.  There were not many people there - it used to be very crowded on any night especially the weekend nights.  The prices were higher, perhaps that is the reason.

Drugs and Boards

 First we went to CVS to pick up my prescribed inhalers.  They are expensive!  I hope I have convinced them to notify me of my prescription status on my phone and Don's prescription status on his phone.  They were using his phone for everything and it was getting confusing and sometimes he forgot to tell me of an update.  He tried to change it once before and it didn't stick so I went in this time and impressed, politely, that it needed to be changed.  

Then we went to Menards.  I used their electric scooter to get around the store and went everywhere.  This is my second visit to the new store.  I found only one little thing to buy but Don had a cart full.  Then we went back to the lumber yard where he had to carefully pick out replacement boards for the deck.  It was about 90 degrees by this time, he was in the hot sun and I was in the hot car.

Don worked on the deck in the afternoon.  He found he need yet another board, I may not go with him this time.

We picked up sandwiches from Arby's for dinner.

Lung Specialist

 Finally today I had an appointment with a lung doctor.  First I was taken for lung tests.  They had me go into a pressurized Plexiglas booth and do some breathing exercises into a tube.  Then I was given some inhaler medication and went thru the same exercises.  My scores were much higher.  I then met with the doctor who determined my lungs were not healed from my early April problems.  She said it takes about 6 months for a lung to heal.  She prescribed a daily inhaler to open up my airways and to promote healing and better breathing.  Also prescribed a rescue inhaler in case I am having trouble catching my breath.  (I have to go back for an x-ray as they were backed up with people waiting.)

Somehow I knew this would not be and in and out visit.  Now I have to see her again in a month.

Birthday celebration

 We went out to eat to celebrate Sheila's birthday - we went to a new place "Cowboy Jacks" .  Several reviews were not good but we all had good food and good service.

Afterwards everyone came over for cake and ice cream.  We had gotten gourmet cup cakes which were good and also rich in frosting!
