Watched Olympics again this morning while drinking our morning coffee. Somehow found stuff to do today without really accomplishing anything.
We picked up dinner at Panera to bring home to eat.
Watched Olympics again this morning while drinking our morning coffee. Somehow found stuff to do today without really accomplishing anything.
We picked up dinner at Panera to bring home to eat.
We went to Panera for bagels today. We got our regular parking place but not our regular table, I gave the women sitting there the evil eye. We sat at someone else's regular table and so when they came we got dirty looks. Too bad.
Then we went to HyVee for groceries. The smoke was even worse than yesterday. Like a fog. Canada needs to put out their forest fires!
We got some fish at HyVee this morning and had that for dinner tonight with rolls and salad. Watermelon for dessert. Then we watched Olympics again.
We went to Valley Café for breakfast today, they have great omelets! Then to Aldi's and Fresh Thyme grocery stores. The weather was nice at first, the the smoke from forest fires moved in to make it hard to breath.
We spent the rest of the day at home, I kept thinking that I should get back to the closet cleaning and get it done but didn't have the inspiration.
We had leftover pasta salad and corn-on-the-cob for dinner. Then watermelon. Watched more Olympics in the evening.
Hot and humid day. "Feels like" temperature over 100. We had a rain storm in the morning but got very little rain. A good day to stay close the the air conditioner!
My goal for the day was to clean my closet but I just got about half way done. It is a big job - when I don't know what to do with things, I shove them in the closet and so now is the time I need to make decisions as to what to do with them!
I made a pasta/tuna salad for dinner. We also had roasted asparagus.
We went to Panera for breakfast. They were busy again today probably because it is "Bakers Dozen" bagel special. We brought home a box!
Then we went shopping at Walmart. We didn't make it there last week so had some things to buy. We came home to have our purchased cream horns and coffee we brought home from Panera while we watched the Today Show.
Brenda came for a visit in the afternoon. We are enjoying watching the Olympics, USA is getting lots of medals many of which are gold!
We had orange chicken and roasted asparagus and a salad for dinner.
We watched on the Today Show interviews with the Olympic athletics who had medaled in various events. USA picked up some gold and silver.
It was house cleaning day, I wasn't really anxious to do it but muddled through.
A storm passed through last night, Don woke up but not me.
We grilled brats for dinner. Sheila came for a visit in the evening.
We went to Perkins for breakfast. We usually don't go there on Sundays. We had, like usual, their potato pancakes. By the time we left there were people waiting in the front area.
Then we came home and started on the Sunday newspaper, seemed like there was a more interesting stuff than usual. Finished the papers in the afternoon. In the evening we watched more Olympics - men's and women's swimming and women's gymnastics' prelims.
Don grilled some steak for dinner, we also had baked potatoes and a salad.
Roses on my dinning room table!
We got a little rain during the night. Storms were predicted but if there was thunder, we didn't hear it or hear it rain.
We worked around the house during the day. Picked up a pizza for dinner.
In the evening we watched Olympics - men's swimming prelims, men's gymnastics prelims and women's beach volleyball (U.S. won).
Today started at Panera for bagels. They were really busy this morning, by the time we left it was getting loud! Then we went to HyVee for groceries - spent more than we ever do - about $88. We won't need to go grocery shopping for a month until next week!
Then I had to put all the groceries away!!!
We watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics. I look forward to a couple weeks of watching the events. My favorite are swimming, diving and gymnastics, but there are other events that catch my eye. I think skateboarding will be fun to watch.
For dinner we went to Chili's, they were busy but they don't have all their tables open. When we came out the heat and humidity hit me like a brick - I felt dizzy. Rather than walk to the car which was a distance, Don drove up to pick me up.
We went to Panera for breakfast today and then to CVS drug store. I went in to the Pharmacy to try to find out what they are doing - they are often texting me telling me I have a prescription waiting to be picked up. Guess they want me to come in every other day rather than doing them all at once.
They said that their computer tells them when to fill the prescriptions, I told them to wait until I requested the meds. Seems like a rinkydink operation to me, I may be moving my prescriptions to another store.
We stopped at Cub Foods to pick up cherries that are on sale, by that time it was getting hot outside. Soon after we returned home clouds started forming and we got a little rain in the afternoon. Not enough to ease the drought by any means.
It rained a little more in the late afternoon, wish we could get a good soaking! I fixed a bag of pasta and shrimp for dinner along with bread sticks and salad.
Today I had my follow-up lung doctor appointment. First I had to go to the lung lab and have a couple breathing tests. Then I waited forever for the doctor, she had some sort of emergency.
She went over the CT scan results. One area of concern on my left lung was nothing more than the scar from when I had the tube inserted. Both lungs have some very small nodules, being I don't smoke and never have smoked - the doctor is not concerned but wants another CT scan in a year. The test I took today had good results, the inhaler is working.
We picked up lunch at McDonalds and coffee (free with our membership) at Panera. I had not had any caffeine yet today and was getting a headache.
In the afternoon Don finished assembling the IKEA table. It is larger but will work - looks nice!
This area a getting a lot of smoke from Canada wildfires. Makes it hard to breath outside.
We had turkey slices for dinner with toast and a salad.
Today we went to IKEA. We had been there a couple weeks ago and looked at kitchen tables, took pictures so we could check the sizes out at home. We settled on one and of course that table suddenly is no longer available. We did find another table that we bought.
We had lunch at IKEA, we had salmon balls with a lemon sauce over them - came with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. I think the salmon balls are a new item. We checked the freezer case and they had bags of them to take home so we bought one.
At IKEA I also picked up the first Christmas presents of the year!
Don spent the afternoon putting together the table. He got tired and decided to let it wait to finish tomorrow. We ate dinner at the dinning room table. I think the only time just the two of us have eaten at that table!
Being the kitchen was IKEA all over, we picked up tacos (Taco Tuesday).
Table we bought. (Not the chairs or other items)
Cleaned the house as usual on Monday. I think the humidity has made my joints hurt more than usual as I was a sore mess when I got my housework done.
We are still getting smoke from the wildfires on the Minnesota/Canada border. Makes the sky gray.
Because I was hurting we went to KFC for chicken. This time they understood our order and we got what we wanted for what we were suppose to pay!
HyVee for breakfast. They have a menu item where you can design your own breakfast - get just what you want. The food is good, the coffee is Caribou and good. The service was also good.
We mailed our passport applications and got tracking numbers since our old passports also had to be mailed. Sure wouldn't want to have them be "lost".
Sheila came over for a visit, we covered a lot of ground!
We had a slice of ham for dinner along with a salad and corn-on-the-cob and watermelon.
I spent considerable time completing the passport forms for both of us on the computer, printing them and getting them ready to mail. Now it is wait - they say 18 weeks but I have heard it takes longer. I also had a number of other things to do on the computer that I had been putting off.
We went to Panera for dinner - had a $5 coupon. Don had a terrible time convincing the manager that it was the coupon was valid. I found the email on my phone, he showed her and finally got the $5. If they go to the trouble to send coupons out they should have no trouble honoring them!
In the evening we watched a so-so movie. It was OK but not earth shattering - Meet the Morgens.
Bagels at Panera this morning followed by a trip to CVS to get passport pictures taken. We heard that passports are taking up to 5 months to receive. If we take a cruise this coming winter we will need new passports as ours are expiring.
Then it was off to HyVee for groceries, we didn't need much. In the afternoon we went to Menards after we got their sale ad in the mail. Often they sale out of the "good stuff" quickly so wanted to beat the weekend crowds.
We picked up Rueben sandwiches at Arby's for dinner.
Today we washed the windows, inside and out. (Over some grumbling from Don.) It was the perfect day to wash windows, not too hot and no wind. They look great!
For dinner we went to Perkins, we had a 20% off email. Don had shrimp and I had salmon. The food was good!
Perkins for breakfast and you guessed it - potato pancakes. Then we went to Walmart. We were keeping an eye on the weather app as we could see rain was on the way. It said rain would arrive at 11 AM so we were making every effort to be home well before. We weren't home long before it started to rain, no storms like was possible.
We had some purchased pulled pork for dinner in buns and some purchased potato salad.
I had some time this morning so decided to clean the display cases. Not that I really wanted to do that job but it needed to be down. So as well as cleaning the glass cases inside and out, I also cleaned the items inside the case. Then, as long as I had the stuff out, I polished the glass things I have sitting around the living room and then did all the mirrors. I was pooped and my arm and back hurt, but job done.
We had waffles and bacon for dinner, something easy and fast to fix. I needed easy!
As usual, we cleaned the house. Just glad to get that done for the week.
We had zeta and meatballs along with a salad for dinner.
There was nothing on TV so I read and Don spent time on the computer. I'm anxious for the Olympics to begin!
We got up a little early (earlier than usual) and went to Cracker Barrow. It is a distance away and it fills up fast on Sunday. We got one of their last tables - a table for 8 for the 2 of us! There was quite a waiting line when we left. Cracker Barrow always has good food, we order the same thing each time. Don gets French Toast and I get eggs-in-a-basket.
Came home and read the Sunday newspaper. We waited until evening to watch the morning news shows.
Don grilled some bacon wrapped steak for dinner.
We had bagels at Panera before going to HyVee for a few groceries. It was back to HyVee (good thing the store is close by) for Chinese dinners to bring home in the evening.
Usually we see some of the same people at Panera. Even greet each other even though we don't know their names. Other people come to use the internet, a woman took over our booth when we left. She had a plastic tub of books and a computer. Might still be there!!!
We celebrated Don's birthday starting with breakfast at Denny's. In the evening we had dinner at our house for our family. I prepared spaghetti, meat balls and bread sticks. Sheila brought a good salad and Brenda brought angle food cake and berries.
We had a good visit and Don opened his fine gifts. We also celebrated son-in-law Ken's birthday.
A dark and humid day. Either rain or clear up!
We had a bagel at Panera and then went grocery shopping at Walmart. We did get a little sprinkle when we left.
For dinner we had chicken Kiev and roasted zucchini with a salad.
We went to IKEA today. We are looking for a small kitchen table. We found several that would suffice but none that we were excited about. Now we need to do some measuring in our kitchen and see if any of the tables we saw will work.
We also ate lunch at IKEA, we had their always good salmon. We did buy a couple small things, a plate to replace a broken one and a cheep clock.
It rained today, enough to help the lawns and I'm sure the farmers were happy!
For dinner we had pulled pork sandwiches.
Did the usual Monday - cleaned house. Hate doing it but happy to have a clean, picked-up house.
It was another hot day before the cool down. Very humid, probably because rain is coming tomorrow.
We had tuna casserole for dinner with a salad.
Independence Day - a lot is going on today but we choose to stay in our air-conditioned house! Different when I was a kid in Belle Fourche South Dakota - there was a huge parade, carnival, rodeo, band concerts, family get-togethers, etc. A big celebration! (The carnival was my favorite.)
Today we had beef kababs for dinner, the were good and a lot of food. Also a salad and corn-on-the-cob. Later we went to the Dennis' house to watch fireworks from their deck. There were a lot of fireworks - city sponsored and people just setting them off.
People were still setting fireworks off when we went to bed, guess I was tired as I went right to sleep!
Just taking it easy today. Hot and humid outside.
We went to Pancheros to pick up burritos for dinner. They are huge and all you need for a meal!
Breakfast again at Panera. There were free bagels today for covid vaccinated people - so a free bagel and free coffee (because we belong to their coffee club) made for a free breakfast!
Then we went to HyVee for a few groceries and made a stop in Target for cheap cherries.
We went to Chick-fill-A to pick up dinner, we had wraps and waffle fries with avocado dressing.
I spent considerable time in the afternoon on the computer catching up on things.
I had to go for a CT Scan on my ailing lung today. I had to hold my breath many times which was exhausting, but it didn't take as long as I thought it might. I won't know the results for awhile.
Afterward we got gas in the car. Some places are running out of gas and wanted to be sure our almost empty tank was full. The 4th of July weekend is upon us and everyone seems to be going somewhere!
For dinner we went to "Chili's". It wasn't busy when we got there but soon started getting full. I ate too much!
