Moving day

Today we moved from Dakotah Meadows RV park near Mystic Lake Casino to Lebanon Hills County park in Apple Valley, MN.  A 30 minute drive but of course the whole process takes much longer if we count disconnecting and reconnecting, putting stuff away and taking it back out, etc.   Lebanon Hills is a lot like a state park (with full hookups) and a welcome change from having neighbors 10 feet away on one side and a trashy MH on the other.  We had to leave Dakotah Meadows because they were full for the Labor Day weekend, filled up a year ahead.  We will go back in two weeks as two weeks is the limit at Lebanon Hills.  We will go back to a much nicer site.  Lebanon Hills is also full for the weekend but we got a site just in time.

We met Sheila, Zach and Bri for dinner at Hong Wong.  The rest of their family is golfing.

Keeping cool

Keeping cool for us means staying close to our air conditioners.  We went to Sam's Club this morning to get the car tires balanced and rotated.  I walked the store and found only Fuji apples to purchase.  Then we went to Walmart and got a few things.  Don't need much when we eat out (or bring in) most of the time.  Went out for Tacos this evening.

Highs still are in the 90's and warm at night - high humidity.

Another weekend

The weekend has come and about gone, it was a hot and humid one.  Temperatures today got up to record setting 96 degrees.

Saturday we just stayed around home and in the evening went to Cub Foods for their excellent chicken to take home and rented the movie The Incredible Bert Wonderstone.  It was Ok, somewhat funny and the best one available.

Today we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and returned the movie.  Ate leftover chicken for dinner.

And that is our exciting weekend.

Weather

It is getting hot and humid here, typical August weather in Minnesota especially at State Fair time.  Forecast for even more heat and humidity in the days to come.

I went to my preoperative physical today and passed with flying colors!  Thankfully that is my last appointment before my hysterectomy.  Don went to his dentist to dispute the bill, they billed the insurance company one amount and billed him a higher amount.  After the insurance company paid they billed Don for the difference.  They probably hoped we wouldn't notice and just pay the bill.  After he brought it to their attention they "wrote it off", in other words said oops you caught us.

We brought home taco salads for dinner.

My birthday

We went out for breakfast at the nearby casino and then I went to Kohl's grand re-opening in Shakopee.  In the evening we our daughters treated us to dinner at a favorite Mexican restaurant in Shakopee with the family. Afterwards everyone came to our motorhome for cake and ice cream.

The only down side is I had a doctor appointment in the afternoon, it took far too long!

We had storm warnings in the afternoon but only got a sprinkle of rain.  Could use more rain but don't want the storms.  The weather has turned hot and humid - they call it State Fair weather on the TV.  The fair starts tomorrow through Labor Day so the weather will probably stay the same through then as well.

Last of our cool, low humidity days

The weather has been SO nice for August but that is all in the past.  Usual Minnesota August weather is forecast:  90+ degree days, high humidity and surely some storms that follow that kind of weather along.

We had a quiet Sunday, went out for breakfast and shopping at Menards and Cub Foods.  We stayed home the rest of the day.  Today we cleaned the house and for dinner got a couple roast beef sandwiches at Arby's.

Another DVD

We watched the show Bad Wedding which was OK, not great but at least not a bloody show like the last ones we have seen.  We went out to dinner earlier and that is our exciting Saturday.

Dinner at the Dennis'

The carpet was dry and we were able to put the furniture back which also required getting the computer and printer ready to use again.

We had dinner at Sheila and Ken's and kids, Ken's parents also came.  They had a great dinner of Hawaiian ham, corn-on-cob, etc.  We got a lot of good visiting in and had a fun evening.  Their puppy Lexi is growing so fast.

Cleaning the carpets - at last

It is a job easily put off, but today we finally decided it was time - past time.  We rented a carpet cleaner to do the job.  We don't have a lot of carpet, the hard part is 1.  moving everything which isn't attached into the small tile space in the kitchen area.  2.  since there is no place for us with the wet carpet and all the stuff in the tile area, we have to abandon the motorhome and find something to do.  Almost as bad as having the MH worked on.  3.  when the carpet is finally dry, moving everything back.

After we got the carpet cleaned and the machine returned we went to lunch at Olive Garden and then to the show Two Guns.  The show was good, lots of bloodshed.  After seeing Olympus has Fallen the night before, I have had plenty of blood and guts.  The next movie will be a comedy.

We came home to check the carpet, we had left the air conditioners set on very cool to pull as much humidity out as possible.  Then we went out to dinner at KFC.  We managed to arrange stuff so we had a place to sit and read the paper, carpets still damp we went to bed.  We were pooped.

Tuesday dinner with the Peicks

We ate breakfast at McDonalds (free breakfast sandwich) and then got haircuts.  In the evening we ate at Davanni's with Brenda, Dan and Rebecca.  We had a nice visit and good food.  Brenda brought Don's suit that she and Becca retrieved from the cleaners.  (We forgot to pick it up before we went west last June.)  No it is not a blue leisure suit.

Sunday at Dakotah Meadows

We went to breakfast at IHOP, had their berry waffle.  Then we did a little running around and Don went to "Sunday Services" at Menards (his favorite home improvement store).    We grilled salmon for dinner and had corn on the cob along with it.  Quite, but good day.  Enjoying the nice weather.

Door back to being a door

We got the mirror in the closet door repaired and the door back on its hinges today.  Now I am paranoid about using the door, have to remind myself that it hadn't broken in 5 years so it is not likely to break again anytime soon.

We were hungry for reuben sandwiches so went to Culvers, the rubens were good!  The campground is full again, a lot of people in and out.  The casino parking lots also looked full, a lot of people out to donate their money!

Shopping ---- again

We went to CVS, Walmart (groceries), Cubs (groceries) and Kohls.  I had a $5 coupon and a $10 coupon for Kohls that I wanted to spend.  I got two shirts and a pair of earrings - all on sale with 15% off and paid $5.59 for everything.  We got our mail today and I have another $10 coupon!  Guess I'll have to go back.

We finally found a place to fix the closet door mirror I broke, it should be ready soon.  We went to Chili's for dinner again armed with coupons.

Shelter from the storm

We had all sorts of storm advisories and some mean looking clouds coming at us this evening.  We decided to take the car to the parking garage by the casino as a precaution.  We got some rain, wind and a little hail.  We were lucky as other parts of the Twin Cities got worse weather.

It was interesting sitting in the parking garage, people were constantly coming and going.  Lots of loud talking and carrying on.  I wouldn't want to be walking in there alone.

Doctor appointment

I had a doctor appointment this afternoon for another test which I passed!  We also discussed my having a hysterectomy as cancer prevention given pre-cancers cells were found from my May D&C.  I decided to go ahead with the surgery rather than having a biopsy every third month.  I will have a da Vinci procedure on Sept. 4.

Slow Sunday

We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and did a couple other things.  Then we came home and read the Sunday paper.  The Minneapolis Star Tribune is the best paper we have found in our travels.  We grilled steak for dinner.  Sun in the morning, then clouds and sun again just at sunset.

Made it to Minnesota

We arrived at Dakotah Meadows RV Park (Mystic Lake) about 1 PM after a good 4 hour trip.  We have a pull - thru site (the type where the utilities are in the middle) which means we are close to one neighbor.  We pulled down the awnings on that side just so no one would be looking into the others windows.  Thank goodness for awnings!  We couldn't get satellite on the roof dome because of a tree blocking the way, so had to put up the tripod one which means changing the hook-up inside and the programming.

Daughter Sheila and Granddaughter Brianna came for a visit in the evening.  They brought their new puppy Lexi.  She is a sweetheart and very well behaved for her young age.

Yes we are!

Arrived in Sioux Falls, SD

We left Happy Holiday about 7 AM and hit I 90 east all the way to Sioux Falls.  We stopped at a Rest Stop by Murdo and another by Chamberlain.  Got diesel in Sioux Falls on the way to our spot for the night.

We got parked, leveled and slid out, pluged in the electric, got the air conditioners running and left for the Honda place where we purchased our Honda.  There we had another coat of sealer put on our front window.  After that we went to sister-in-law Char's, visited awhile and then went out to eat with her.  Always good to see her.

It was back to the motorhome about 7 PM, Don got the front window looking good.  I cleaned all the bugs off at where we got diesel but left major streaks.  It has been a long and hot day.  After two days of getting up at 5:30AM, I hope we can get at least another hour of sleep tonight!
