go

We quickly finished getting the motorhome ready to move.  Backing out was a bit tricky, we had people watching the operation.  It didn't take long and we didn't hit anything.  We stopped by the office to tell the manager goodbye and were off to "Eddies" to get the motorhome oil changed.  On the way our tire indicator beeped that the motorhome front driver's side tire was loosing air although it was maintaining the same, but lower than normal pressure.  So we had Eddies look at that as well.  They said they could see nothing wrong with the tire and check the air.

After leaving the motorhome at Eddies we went for breakfast at Morningside and then to Menards, K Mart, Target and down town Rapid City where they sell watch batteries cheap AND install them.  Then lunch at Culvers and our motorhome was ready.  We got on the road about 1:30 and drove to Mitchell, about 2/3 of the way across SD.  We had no more tire problems.  It was a hot day and we were tired.  We pulled into a small campground in Mitchell, it was as clean and neat as a campground can be and just 1/4 miles off the Interstate highway it was surprisingly quiet.

Ready, set

We spent a lot of the day getting the motorhome ready to move tomorrow.  We really get things spread out after 2 months in one place.  In the evening the manager had a pizza and ice cream party for all workers.  It was a good time to say goodbye.

Lasts, at least for awhile

I wanted to eat again at Mongolian Grill, so we ate there Monday night.  Always so good, I will miss this place as we move along.

Don wanted to eat again at Alpine Inn, we ate there tonight.  Again - always good and we will miss this place as well.

We worked today for what was the official last day in the office.  Don has been doing some woodwork replacing site numbers that have gotten bad or dissipated all together.  I will miss not working during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, it is always a fun time.

Nice Sunday

Quiet Sunday - at breakfast at IHOP.  Didn't even go to Menards, just came straight home.  We are having beautiful weather and want all the time possible to enjoy.  I talked to our daughters in the evening.

I need a dog.

Quaker Steak and Lube

Some friends stopped by to look at our "new" blinds and then we made arrangements to go out to eat in the evening.  We went to Quaker Steak and Lube.  We had never been there - it was an interesting place with good food and decent prices.  We had a great visit with our friends although our server was probably glad to see us finally leave.

Pink Party

We went to a "Eat, Drink and Wear Pink" party this evening at the nearby Hart Ranch RV Park.  We have friends that work there and other friends from around the Black Hills that were there.  Fun to see everyone again!

It has been in the 90's the last couple of days and humid (for this area).

Roubaix Lake Picnic

We went to Roubaix Lake in the Black Hills today to for a family picnic and to celebrate Lisa's birthday.  It was a very hot day but seemed a lot cooler at the lake.  As always it was good to get together with family.  Our daughter and granddaughter we also there from Minnesota.

Dinner with family

We were invited to Lisa and Bill's ranch for dinner this evening.  It was delicious and so good to have a home cooked meal.  They had grilled chicken, 7 layer salad, cheesy potatoes with green beans and beets fresh from their garden.  Then a great dessert.  Lots of good visiting as well.

This week we worked in the campground office Wed., Thur., and Fri., mornings for 6 hours each day.  The campground continues to be nearly full so the challenge is getting all the people parked where they want to be parked.

Spearfish Canyon and Deadwood

Today started with breakfast at Morningside Cafe and then we went up Spearfish Canyon and into Lead and Deadwood.  We had lunch at Tin Lizzy and then drove down Boulder Canyon and back home.  A nice day for a nice trip.

In the evening there was a workamper dinner in the office bar.  We were tired after all this fun and eating!

Nice Sunday in the Black Hills

Nice Sunday - great weather and no real demands on our time.  We had breakfast at IHOP and then went to Kohl s and Menards.  Then it was home for the rest of the day.

We watched the movie Non Stop, perhaps I won't fly again!  We had reserved the DVD for Saturday night and forgot to pick it up from Redbox.  Fortunately it is held for 2 days.  Anyway it was a good movie.

Saturday evening we ate at Red Lobster.  We had a good dinner and excellent service.  Also good food and service at IHOP today.  We appreciate good service even more after our experience at Denny's last Tuesday.

I envy my friend who is doing Paris (on her own).

Needles Highway

After a busy week of workamping we finally got a chance to get back to Custer State Park.  Today we first went to Horse Thief Lake and then drove the Needles Highway.  It is always a beautiful trip.

Don's Birthday

Busy day!  We went for breakfast at Denny's, had some problems and it took awhile but the food was good.  Then it was to Menards, Don's favorite home store.  After a quick stop at the MH we went to Custer State Park and the Wildlife loop.  We came home for a quick nap and then it was off to Hill City to the Alpine Inn for a good steak dinner followed by their Turtle Waffle Sunday - big enough for two.

Dinosaur Hill

Last night after we went out for dinner, we drove on Dinosaur Hill.  It is a hill, mountain really, that divides Rapid City.  On the top is a concrete live size Dinosaur.  Besides that there is hang man's tree - if you know where to look as it is unmarked.  And beautiful views of Rapid City and the Black Hills.

Independence Day 2014

We went to Belle Fourche for the parade in the morning.  Was the usual horses, tractors, class reunion floats, etc.  It was upper 80's and we had full sun.  I had got a hold of an umbrella when I felt my skin burning, some others got burns.  Then we went to Jay's for a picnic, it was nice in the shade of his yard for lunch but started to get hot so most of us went inside to the air conditioning.

In the late afternoon we went to my 50th High School reunion.  I had 110 in my class, 29 have died, and 50 classmates showed up for the reunion.  My two old buddies were there, Debbie and Carolyn so we had a lot of catching up to do.  Also did a lot of visiting with other classmates.  Was a good reunion!

I was so tired, despite fireworks in the campground I went right to sleep.

July 3rd

We worked in the campground office Tuesday, Wednesday and today and we are really tired.  The campground will soon be full with everyone wanting to get away for the long 4th of July weekend.  Some people were frantically calling for a site, all the campgrounds are full.

The weather has been nice, even hot today.  Good to see the sun.  Monday and Tuesday we had strong wind, that got old fast.

We are getting things ready for our trip to Belle Fourche tomorrow for the parade, dinner with family and my high school class reunion.
