September ends

We went for breakfast at Bakers Square and then to Aldi's for a couple groceries.  Home to read the Sunday papers.

Sheila came over in the afternoon for a good visit.  We grilled a ham slice for dinner and watched some TV that we had recorded.

No Frost - yet

Frost was predicted for last night but didn't quite get that cold.  Good to have the furnace on this morning.

We did stuff around the house and then in the evening went for dinner at Chili's.  Later we picked Brenda up at the airport - she had been in Houston, TX all week.  She had a harrowing plane trip back!

Snow in SD

We went to HyVee for breakfast, they keep giving us a coupon.  Then got groceries, fewer than usual as we are leaving in 2+ weeks for Florida.  Then back to HyVee to pick up Chinese food for dinner.

It was a cool day but did see some sun.  Read in the afternoon and nothing else happened.

TV

We watched some of the Kavanaugh hearing where Dr. Ford testified.  She was very impressive, if I were Kavanaugh I would withdraw my name from the nomination for Supreme Court Judge.  Then we did some things around the house.  It is a cool day, we actually turned on the heat for awhile.

Read and caught up on things in the afternoon.  Watched TV in the evening, good to have new shows after a summer of reruns.

The doctor was in

Don had a doctor check-up this morning so I went along and sat in the car and read.  Then we went to the Shakopee Panera for bagels.  From there to Walmart to see if they had the denim shorts that Don likes in his size.  They did not.  We picked up McDonalds hamburgers on the way home for lunch.

We stayed home the rest of the day, even ate dinner at home!

Taco Tuesday

Panera for bagels again today.  Then we went to Walmart, didn't need much but was good to walk around the store for exercise.

It looked like it was going to rain any second but waited until we got home and then light rain for a couple hours.

French toast

Cleaned the house again!  Monday seems to come around so fast.

It was a cool day so French toast was a good dinner for a cool evening.

First full day of Fall

We grilled bacon wrapped sirloin steak for dinner and watched some more of the series Ozark on Netflix

It was a super nice day!

FALL

Chilly day, but no rain!  Got to the lower 40's last night!

Don  had to go to Menards and brought home McDonald's hamburgers for lunch.  We went to TGI Fridays for dinner, I had a good cobb salad with salmon.  We watched Wild Oats on Netflix with Shirley MacLaine, Jessica Lange and Demi Moore.

Sumak is turning red now.

Sunshine

We went to HyVee for breakfast and then some groceries.  We didn't get many groceries as we are trying to eat up what we have in the house as it is 3 weeks until we head south.

It has been a chilly day.  I even wore a wrap and Don had on a sweater!  The  clouds broke in the afternoon - finally SUN!

We brought home a pizza for dinner, long time since we had a pizza.

Rain, rain go away

More rain, it rained most of the night (without the lighting and thunder) and rained all day.  It is getting VERY humid.  We got a major storm in the evening, we had no damage but there was damage south of here.  All in all we got a lot of rain yesterday.

Eating and flooring

We went to Perkins for their good potato pancakes this morning.  For some reason the place was crowded!  Then off to Walmart for a few things, didn't need much for groceries just other stuff.  It has rained on and off all day, cloudy and misty outside.  We went to Bakers Square for dinner and their Wednesday Free slice of pie.

They are putting in carpet and flooring in the house above ours.  It has been a noisy mess all day, will be glad when that is done.  Hope we get a chance to see the house before it is sold.

Storms

We went for bagels at Panera today as usual and then to Menards.  It got night dark while we were at Panera and rained like crazy, we choose to drink more coffee and wait it out.  We then went to Menards and home.

There were at least three thunderstorms during the night, this afternoon we had a storm where the emergency warning sirens went off.  So much for the nice weather of last week!

Hot and Cold

We went for breakfast at Bakers Square and then home to read the Sunday papers.  Brenda came over for a visit in the late afternoon and Sheila came over after dinner.  Always good to see them.

It was hot again, but this is suppose to be the last of the heat.  Soon we will be complaining of the cold!

Super hot, Superhero day

The paint smell had built up some during the night.  We had left our ceiling fan on all night which helped distribute the smell.  We opened windows again and turned on exhaust fans and went back out on the deck with our coffee and read the newspaper.  The smell was better when we came inside and so we turned on the AC.

Hot and humid day.  Got to 92 degrees.  We brought home Chinese food for dinner and then watched "Black Panther" on Netflix.  We enjoyed the show, even I liked it as I usually don't like superhero shows.  I'm sure there will be sequels

Crazy Day

We went for breakfast at HyVee this morning then grocery shopping.  Took our groceries home and went to Menards "Crazy Day" sale.  Got a bunch of stuff we probably don't need!

They are working on the house above us finally.  Turns out a real estate person bought the place to fix up and resale.   The paint smell is filtered into our house and gave me a headache.  The owner is having all the plumbing checked and putting in all new appliances, or so he told us.  We opened our windows and turned on the exhaust fans while we went out to eat (at Red Lobster).  The smell better when we got back but we sat on the deck awhile more before we closed up and turned on the air conditioner.  We think they used a special paint that seals in the cigarette smoke smell.  We asked the owner to open all the windows above which it appears he did do.

Meanwhile out on the deck our new neighbor next door stopped by and we had a good conversation, seems like a nice woman.

Hurricane Florence has been downgraded to a category 1 but has 12 foot walls of water.  Lots of damage.

Fire and water

This morning we continued cleaning out files and hopefully finished.  Did a LOT of shredding of old papers and other stuff.  Took us two more hours on top of the two hours we spent the other day.  At least our files are clean, in order and we know what we have.

We continue to think of the people along the eastern coastline who are dealing with Hurricane Florence and hope no lives are lost.  Also think of those in Massachusetts whose homes have burst into fire from natural gas problems.

Hurricane

Another nice day!  Have to enjoy while we can.

We are thinking of our friends whose lives are being affected by hurricane Florence.  One couple from Myrtle Beach is heading to their daughter's house in northern New York state.  They can't find a motel so sleeping in their car.  Friends from Hilton Head Island have moved to Asheville.

This afternoon we went to the show "Crazy Rich Asians", it was Ok - not the best or worst movie I've seen.

What is wrong with this picture?!?

9/11

A day to remember all the people lost in the terrorist attacks of 9/11/2001.  No one ever forgets where they were when they heard the news.

We went to Panera for bagals and then to Aldi and Walmart.

I downloaded the book "Fear" about Trump, anxious to get a chance to start reading.

Tomatoes

Cleaned the house again, now that is done for a week!

We had leftovers from Saturday for dinner.

Actually I think it costs us to grow our own rather
than go to a Farmers Market.

Sunday

Went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, it was packed with a waiting line when we left.  Then we went across the road to Fleet Farm to get some mixed nuts and looked around some.  Came home to read the newspapers.

Our daughters came over for awhile in the afternoon.  We had bacon wrapped sirloin steak for dinner along with baked potato and roasted cauliflower.

Florence

Sat around drinking coffee for awhile (and eating a blueberry muffin).  Enjoying the cool, dry, fresh air..  The Today Show had a report on the Minnesota State Fair which was interesting since we had been there a week ago.

We went to Chili's for dinner.

Imagine

We went to HyVee for breakfast, had a coupon.  Then did our grocery shopping there.

It is beautiful weather outside, mild temperature and low (or at least lower) humidity.  We picked up sandwiches from Arby's for dinner.

RIP Burt Reynolds

We took our car out of town for the first time.  The main reason was to get the "low tire" icon to turn off.  We have checked our tires and none are low.  The book said we had to drive 30 minutes at over 30 MPH which we did, but didn't work.  Calling Honda.

We did see some new territory, took some back roads.  It was a nice drive at least.  Stayed home, for a change, for dinner.

Pie in the ski

We went to Panera for breakfast bagels and then to Aldi, Kwik Trip (for bread) and Menards.  Don talked my into going into Menards, I didn't need anything but ended up buying as much as he did!

It is a nice day, rain had moved on.  Still on the humid side but cool.

I was going to fix dinner, but Don was fixed on going to Bakers Square - free pie night.

School starts

Haircuts today.  The beautician took a bit more than usual.  It takes a couple washings before my hair settles down after a cut.

Total humidity outside, like it could rain any second.  It did rain in the late afternoon and evening.  We had Chef Salads for dinner at home.

Labor Day

We cleaned the house as we always do on a Monday.  Don't want to mess up the rest of our week!

Our daughters came over for a visit in the afternoon.  We went to Culver's for hamburgers, I had a free sundae coupon from my birthday so got a Hot Fudge.

Sunday

Our hearts go out to our daughter Brenda as today would have been her wedding anniversary if her husband was still with us.

We went out for breakfast, a few sprinkles when we left home but a major downpour when we arrived at Denny's.  With the help of an umbrella we made it in about half wet.  Still raining when we left, the other half got wet!

Grilled some pork chops for dinner also had corn-on-the-cob and a tossed salad.

September 1 Funerals

John McCain's funeral today.  Aretha Franklin's funeral yesterday.  We have lost a leader in politics and in music.  Meanwhile as the motorcade with the casket of John McCain passed where trump could see it, while trump tweeted out his hate on Canada, Obama and Hilary then left to play golf.   Was playing golf when Henry Kissinger spoke.

We hung around home all day, got Chinese dinner from HyVee.  Good as always!
