Panera, Arby's and meeting

This morning we had our breakfast bagel at Panera and then went to Walmart with a quick stop at the bank to make a deposit.  Nice sunny day but was cool this morning.

In the evening we went to the Homeowners Association meeting to ask that the townhouse above ours be repaired so as not to potentially dump any more water on us.  They agreed and promised things would be taken handled.  We also wanted to know who is paying for our damage, they will get back to us tomorrow.

We then grabbed a couple Hero's for dinner at Arby's.

Home all day

We watch the Today Show most mornings and were shocked this morning to find out the lead anchor had been fired for sexual harassment.  It is sad when men think they can get away with these things, it makes them think they are far superior to women.  Even though he was a good anchor, he had to go.  Women are going to rule the world soon.

We stayed home all day, need to do that sometimes!

Eyes on dinner

Don had an eye doctor appointment this morning.  I choose to stay home and get some shopping done on the computer.

We ate dinner at Red Lobster, first time in a long time.  Prices have gone up - a lot.  We had a special with soup, salad, shrimp and dessert.  It was good!

Try to clean

Clean the house day, at least clean what we can with the upheaval caused from the water damage.  They removed the high powered fans from the house above ours, it seems eerily quiet!

We stayed home all day, ate leftovers for dinner.

If it is Sunday---

We went to Perkins for breakfast, had their good potato pancakes.  Then to Walmart for "a couple of things" and Menards for their specials.  Came home and got to work on reading the newspapers, they seem to pile up on us.

In the evening Sheila came over for a visit!

Saturday

We went to CVS to pick up some of their sale items but couldn't find much.  I asked the clerk and she said they didn't get in some of the stuff - excuse, maybe a way to get people in for a good deal which doesn't exist!

In the afternoon we put up our Christmas tree and put out some decorations.  Don got the outside lights up.  Brenda came over and we got some Chinese take out for dinner.

Black Friday

We went right away this morning to Menards to grab some of their very good gift specials.  Don had to follow someone to their car to even get a cart.  It was a mass of people.  We had to stand in line about 30 minutes to check out.  Was it worth it?  I think so.  One thing I got for myself was a tablet computer with a keyboard.  Seems strange to buy a computer from a home improvement store!

Afterward we bought some donuts at the gas station and came home to finally have some coffee!

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving!  We watched the Macy's parade while going thru the tons of advertisements that came with the newspapers.  Everyone has their "Black Friday" ads.

In the afternoon we went to daughter Sheila's home for a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.  It all tasted SO good!

Feet and food

Today was my podiatrist appointment.  She took x rays, seems I have plenty of arthritis.  We for breakfast at Panera and then grocery shopping this morning.  Stayed home the rest of the day, ate leftovers for dinner.

Eyes, Target and Chili

Today I had my eye doctor appointment.  I had it on my calender for 10 AM, got there and was told it was at 11 AM.  Then I realized that I had made the appointment in the eastern time zone so the calendar changed the time.  So we went to Target to by pop, which we didn't buy.  We bought plenty of other stuff, usual case at Target.  Finally back to have my eyes checked.  All is fine, seeing good, eyes in good health.

The mover rep came in the afternoon to evaluate what we have so it can be moved out when the house is under repair in January.  I had planned to pack most of the stuff myself but he convinced me to just pack what I wasn't comfortable having other people pack like the stuff in the china closet.  They will take pictures and return items to where they were, even hang pictures!

I made a pot of Chili for dinner, a good meal on a cold day.

Cleaning a hopeless house

Our house was so dirty with all the dust flying from removing the sheetrock and carpet that it took us both awhile just to get it under control today.  The living room, dinning room and kitchen are untouched by water damage but had a thick layer of dust.  The rest of the house is a hopeless case but we did what we could as we have to live here for 6 weeks.  It isn't going to be easy.

I also got caught up on the wash.  We have a lot of stuff to do this short week.

We went to Fridays for dinner, have their rib special!

In the afternoon we read the Sunday Star Tribune, best paper ever.

House, Movie, Dinner

We finally got the dinning room table unloaded and more stuff put away.  In the afternoon we went to the show "Thor" with Brenda and then out to eat.

Don and I are not accustomed to the cold, just hate to go outside!

House and memorial

We got back to the house after having breakfast at the motel.  Started right away trying to move stuff around, off the bed, in the working bathroom, etc. so we could actually stay overnight.  Lots of dust that won't come off with out furniture polish.

The Service Pro man came over to check humidity and found it to be just 20% so he took the fans and dehumidifier out.  The he went upstairs to the trouble spot and pulled up some carpet and put the fans and dehumidifier there, the Homeowners Association asked it to be done - about time.  There is no one living above us and his relatives can not be found.

A contractor that is recomended came and accessed all the damage.  He agreed that they would take care of things 100% in January, when we go back to Florida.  All our furniture will be moved out and then all ceilings will be done, walls replaced. whole house painted and recarpeted.  If weren't such a major pain at least we are gaining something out of it!  They will have house cleaners come in and then move the furniture back.

Brenda came over for a bit.  In the evening we picked up Brenda and went to the memorial for our son-in-law's mother.  Good to see people again even if a very sad occasion.

First view of troubled house

We got to Apple Valley about 1 PM to our house that was half flooded with water.  Service Pro had done a good job cleaning out the ruined stuff:  Both bathroom ceilings, one bath wall, hall ceiling and one wall, some of both bedroom ceilings and carpet in bedrooms and hall - all gone.  We weren't surprised as we had seen pictures.

Son-in-law Ken came over and helped move some big stuff around so at least we could use the house.  We were SO tired that about 8 PM we decided to go to a motel for the night.  We both slept 9 hours.

Ate at Amana

Another long day on the road.  We got to Coralville, Iowa early enough that we decided to go to the Amana Colones for one of their good meals!

A long day on the road

We left Sumter Oaks at 6:15 this morning and got to Clarksville, TN after 12 hours on the road.  Lots of traffic lights and traffic.  We got into rush hour traffic in Nashville, what a mess.

Needless to say we are glad to be in our motel and will get to bed soon!

Pack, pack, pack

Packing day.  Will see what I forgot, I usually do a good job remembering things.  I have lists!  It is always my fault if something is forgotten even if I didn't know we wanted to take something.

First we cleaned the house, Don washed and waxed the car and also cleaned out inside.  I found a plant sitter.  So all went well.

My hometown, Belle Fourche, SD with new Christmas lights!

Wildwood and Walmart

We went to Steak and Shake for breakfast.  They had one server who also was manning the cash register.  We were picking up our stuff to leave and go eat somewhere else when he finally came to wait on us.  Then another server came in but a ton of customers also arrived.

Stopped by Walmart on the way home for a few things.  I started to pack in the afternoon.

Finished the last meal from the freezer so we can leave it turned off while we are gone.

Saturday and breakfast

Don helped prepare and serve breakfast today.  I went over to eat and chat.  It started to be a day at last, cool, less humid and blue sky, but it turned hot and humid in the afternoon.  We stayed home the rest of the day, getting the last of the freezer stuff eaten.

Slow day

The cool weather has arrived, it almost feels cold.  Still humid but that is suppose to change also.

We did stuff around the motorhome and  then went into Bushnell for dinner.

No cavities!

The weather people tell us this heat wave is going to end "soon", hope so.  Lots of humidity, fog every morning.

We had our annual dentist appointments today for cleaning and exam.  No cavities, it has been a least three years with no cavities so we were glad to get the word again.  We went to Dunkin Donuts to celebrate!

Sad news today

We went to 10 AM coffee today and there was a nice group, enough that the women sat at one table and the men at another!  Us women covered the full gamut of topics from hysterectomies to carpet to RV sewer systems and more.

Sheila called this morning to let us know that her mother-in-law, Betty had died last night after a lingering illness.  So sad as she was always a vibrant, happy person.  We feel so bad for her family.

We have decided to go back a day early so as to have more weekday time to work on our house.

Hair cuts and damage

Today we went to Brooksville for bagels at Panera but mostly to get our hair cut so we don't scare the family back in MN!  Made a couple of other stops and then home by noon.

I talked to the people tearing apart our house in MN (taking out the water damaged stuff).  Sounds like they are doing a good job.  Their main goal is to get it all so there won't be any mold.  Once it is rebuilt I will get to do some redecorating which I wanted to do including new carpet.  The water damage is in both bathrooms, the hall and the extra bedroom with some in the master bedroom.  Brenda sent pictures:

Monday again, my (not) favoirte day.

A hot and humid day.  There was some fog in the morning, it never cooled down during the night.  I cleaned the house in the heat as it is so much more fun than having the Air Conditioner on.

We went into Bushnell for the Monday Burgers at Beef O Brady's and then to Walmart for Bandaids.

Brenda kept us up to date on what is happening at our house and sent pictures.   Looks like a mess.

Proof we were at last Escapees Luncheon:

Water, water everywhere, etc.

We had breakfast at Waffle House, it was a packed place and a long line when we left.

Then I got a phone call from my daughter who was checking our house.  There was water coming from the townhouse above ours and it had created a big mess.  Turns out it was a water heater that sprang a leak.  We got some men to pull out the carpet and set up fans to dry the place.  Tomorrow they will take out the walls and anything else that needs to be done.  Then we will need to get the place repaired and back in shape. We thought of going back right away but our daughter discouraged us as it is probably better to be out of the way.  Our daughters are doing a good job of taking care of the problem.

Allergies

A nice day but allergies abound.  I woke up at 1:30 AM with a bad headache, took some meds and woke up again at 5:30 AM - still had some pain which went away later.  I used to get a lot of headaches (migraines) but don't anymore, thankfully.  Today I'm sneezing.

We ate dinner at Coyote Rojo in Bushnell, our favorite Mexican food around here.

New Shed!

Big day for us!  We added on to our collection of structures.  We went to Bushnell today and bought a 6 X 8 foot shed for our campground lot.  They delivered and sat it up this afternoon.  They have a special trailer that gently lowers the shed to to ground and the they (man and woman) adjust the location, this obviously isn't their first roundup!  They knew exactly what and how to do it.  After getting it where we wanted it they leveled it and anchored it.

Escapees Luncheon

Today was the first Escapees (camping club) luncheon of the season in Clermont at Golden Corral.  There was a fairly good turnout.  I ate too much, I know at the buffets I have to be very careful otherwise I get stomach cramps like I did today.

After lunch we went to KMart, I got a pair of denim shorts and a couple pairs of capris all on sale.  We picked up a Subway on the way home for later.

Our motorhome was hot inside when we got home so both air conditions were on.

Bushnell morning and Brooksville afternoon

Thankfully there was leftover Halloween candy in the clubhouse this morning.  I was having a major craving for some!  We went to 10 AM coffee, have been too busy running around to go.  Only one other couple there but had a good visit.  Then we went to Bushnell for a couple things and ended up with 3 bags of Halloween pop corn balls that were half price.

In the late afternoon we went to Brooksville.  First to look at some more storage sheds and then we ate at Texas Roadhouse.  Had a good meal complete with margaritas!

Walmart had all the Halloween stuff moved and Christmas stuff in it's place already this morning!
