Scooter-gate

We went to Panera for a bagel and coffee this morning followed by a trip to Aldi's and Walmart for groceries and other stuff at Walmart.

One woman was using a scooter that the store supplies and was hogging the middle of whatever asile I wanted to be shopping.  She was just slowly going up and down randum asiles, not buying anything or had any regard for people that wanted to buy something.  Thought I had tricked her a couple times but ended meeting her head on, first time I turned around.  Second time I just stared her down until she backed up nearly hitting the shampoo shelves.

In the afternoon we made a run to put Brenda's Amazon delivery in her garage and go to the post office.  Don also need one thing a Menards.

We got our free pizza from Pizza Hut.  We had a burned one in June and got a credit but were a bit hesitant in getting another.  We checked this one before we left the place.

Disclaimer: not the woman that was driving me crazy, but the way I felt about her.

Slow Day!

Clean house day already.  Mostly put stuff away day.  Read newspapers and magazines in the afternoon and had left-overs for dinner.

We watched more of "Crown" in the evening.

Sunday

We went to Baker's Square for breakfast, they were NOT busy but we seemed to have trouble getting someone to take our order.  Finally had to ask the host to find our server.  Very unusual for this place.

Then we went home and sat on the deck reading the Sunday newspaper.

In the afternoon Sheila came over for a visit.  It rained on and off for awhile with some big thunder.

We grilled steak and had corn-on-the-cob for dinner.

Christmas is just around the corner

We got up at 5:30 AM, quickly got dressed and presentable.  Went to pick up Brenda and Becca to take them to the airport.  Then we went to Denny's for pancakes and home to take a shower and start our day.

In the evening we went to Chili's for dinner.  We had prime rib burritos which were very good and HUGE.  We brought half the burrito each home.

We ran the car thru a car wash for the first time and got it home and in the garage just before a rain.

Menards, HyVee and Smashbuger

Menards is having a "Crazy Day" sale so we HAD to check it out.  We did get a few items at a good price.  Then we went to HyVee, seems we always spend around $45 there whatever we buy.

We got bacon/avocado hamburgers and sweet potato fries at Smashburger for dinner.  Good!

It was a nice day, few clouds mid 70's.

Rain or no rain, that was the question today

We made a run to take some clothing to a charity place and stop by CVS drugstore.  If something isn't on sale at CVS it is marked up so high that it is worth a side trip to Walmart.  We used to shop at CVS some but not worth it anymore.  It has looked like rain all day but just got a few sprinkles now and again.

Brenda made a quick stop-by in the afternoon leaving a plant in need of some TLC.

Hyacinth Bucket

Panera for coffee and bagel this morning and then to Aldi for a few groceries and Menards for primarily heat vent covers.  We had several that were rusty or scratched, looks nice now.  It really looked like rain this morning but never happened, in fact the sun was out.

We went to Bakers Square for dinner, it is their free slice of pie with a meal night.  I had their decadent peanut butter pie with bits of Reese Peanut Butter Cups.  Don had their new cookie dough crust pie, he usually gets a berry pie.

This is from one of my all-time favorite TV shows "Keeping up Appearances".

Movie

Our doorbell rang early this morning (if you call 8:30 early).  It was our new neighbor, she had received a couple letters addressed to us.  She said she also received mail for some other people.  Our mailman needs to step it up before we have to talk to the postmaster.

In the afternoon we went to the movie Equalizer 2 with Denzel Washington.  While I don't particularly like shooting/killing shows, I did enjoy this as it actually had a strong plot.

We had bacon/lettuce/tomato (from your patio plant) for dinner.

Turn on the fans!

Another slow Monday.  Cleaned the house, now we are good for a week.  We are still finding stuff from the reconstruction last Feb./Mar.  Today we dusted the ceiling fan blades and a couple were bad.

Brenda came over in the evening.  She updated us on her trip and on the relatives that she visited.  Sounds like she had a good time!

This reminds me of when we were waiting to board a cruise ship in Acapulco.  It had been very cold when we left Minnesota but it was hot and steamy in Acapulco.  The cruise terminal was wide open but had ceiling fans - about 50 feet up and moving as slow as possible.  As if that helped, not.  We were slowly dying.

Sunday

We ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel.  Our waiter, which we had not had before, asked us if it had been awhile since we were there.  We said yes and he answered, we were just talking about you and wondered where your were.  Funny.  He was a good waiter and kept up his humor.

Latter in the afternoon we went to the same area to pick up our daughter who was returning a rental car to give her a ride home.  She had been on vacation to the Black Hills for a week.

We grilled beef, vegetable kabobs for dinner, very good.

Could had been my family when I was a kid.

Slow Saturday

A nice day at last.  We sat on the deck awhile this morning and drank our coffee.  There is a slight smell of smoke from the Canada brush fires but a good breeze keeps it from lingering.

We did stuff around the house during the day and then went to TGI Friday's for dinner.

Don't "Ride the Ducks"

First we went to Target to get printer ink which was on sale.  It still costs way too much.  Then we went to HyVee for a few things and spent over $40.00.

It is still raining on and off today.  Hope this quits soon.

We often go to Branson, MO where yesterday one of their tourist "Ducks" sank drowning 17 people.  We have ridden on them in Branson and other places around the country.  (They travel both on land and in the water.)   On one trip the Duck hit the water so hard it jarred my neck causing me pain for a couple weeks.  That was our last Duck trip.

We went to Culver's for a hamburger and had their good frozen custard for dessert.

A very sad day for Branson.

Rain all day

There was bright sun when we got up but the clouds came in and we had rain by 9 AM.  It rained most of the rest of the day.  A dark and damp day it was.

In the morning I made tuna salad for dinner so it would be cold.  Sure takes a lot of pans, bowls, utensils, etc. for one bowl of salad.  It was good and good to have something ready for dinner.

Kind of sick, but oh well:

Nelson Manidela's birthday

We started the day with bagels at Panera and then to Aldi for groceries and Walmart for more groceries and other stuff.  Then a stop at Kwik Trip for bread, bananas and donuts.

Got home and the fresh donuts were calling to us so finished our coffee with a donut.

It is a beautiful day, around 80 with low humidity.  We talked about sitting outside at Panera but didn't thankfully as we shortly saw a woman puffing on a cigarette was sitting outside spreading her smoke like a smoke bomb.  Why do people think they have a right to ruin the fresh air with cigarette smoke?

We did stuff around the house the rest of the day and had bacon, lettuce, tomato (from our patio plant) sandwiches for dinner.

Taco Tuesday

This was the desingated day to clean the windows.  I shudder to think how long it has been since we washed the windows.  They now have construction dust on them so really bad.  It didn't take us long, we don't have that many windows.

In the afternoon we went to a meeting on how to complete "Advanced Health Care" document.  Our doctors keep asking us for them.  Now we need to finish them, have them notarized and take a copy to our clinics.

We got Tacos for dinner.

Destination for tourists, home to me.

Feeling better now.

Clean the old house day.  I was working along and suddenly didn't feel too good.  I was very hot and light headed.  Think that is a sign I shouldn't clean the house anymore!  Sat down for awhile, actually went to sleep for 10 minutes and then felt better.

Looks like new neighbors are moving in next door.

We had French toast for dinner with eggs and bacon.

Impeach him ----

Hot Sunday

Went to Bakers Square for breakfast.  Seemed like very few people there today.  Not many people at Menards either.  Maybe just too hot to get outside.

In the afternoon Sheila came over for a visit.  We grilled some pork chops for dinner.

It is a sad first anniversary of our son-in-laws death.  Thinking of our daughter Brenda today.

Humid

Thought it was supposed to cool down and drop the humidity but too much to ask for I guess.  We went to the post office, Kohl's (to exchange some slacks for Don) and Fresh Thyme for fresh cherries.  Good to get home in the air conditioning!

We went to Panera for dinner, had a coupon.

Humidity and hot Mexican

It was raining when we got up this morning.  We opened windows but we could feel the humidity coming inside.  When it let up we went to HyVee for groceries.  Turned out to be another hot and humid day.

In the evening we went to a new - to us - Mexican restaurant that we had heard was good and it was good.  A busy place!  Our daughter Brenda joined us.

When food and weather don't mix

Another "Spring Cleaning in the Summer" day.  It doesn't sound like a big job, but it is --- taking all the photos, cards, magnets, etc. off the refrigator, cleaning the door.  Then deciding what I want to put back up and arranging them.  Alway looks so organized when I am done - for maybe two weeks.  Don cleaned the grout between the floor ceramic tile in the main bathroom.  That was a huge job.

We went out to eat at a place that gives a free steak dinner on your birthday week.  So Don had his free steak and I ordered a steak.  They were very good BUT while we were eating a storm was brewing.  We could see on our cell phones' radar that it was getting close.  We don't want any hail or other damage to our new car, so we quickly finished eating and boxed the rest to take home.  It started to rain as we were walking to the car but didn't storm until we had the car safely tucked in the garage.  I heard we got over an inch of rain in an hour.

The storm passed and then we went to our daughters house for a little while.

Tomato time

Today we went to Perkins for their good potato pancakes, had a two for one price coupon.  Then a quick trip to Walmart and Best Buy, the post office and home.  It's a nice day outside, a bit hot.  Rain is forecast for the next few days, hope that doesn't happen.

We had bacon/lettuce/tomato sandwiches for dinner with tomatoes from Don's patio tomato plants.  We have lots of tomatoes now!

WiFi down????

We went to Panera for bagels again this morning and then to Manards and Don went to Harbor Freight.  It started to rain while we were out and rained more when we got home.  Our house wifi was down again for the second time in a week.  This better not keep up or we will be finding a different carrier.

We cleaned out once but it is slowly building again:

Another Monday

Another Monday for the opportunity to clean house.  We got Chinese dinners from HyVee for dinner, always good and too much food!

It was a hot and humid day, good old Minnesota summer!

Don's birthday

We started the celebration of Don's birthday with a free breakfast for him at Denny's.  After a trip to Walmart and Fresh Thyme we came home to read the newspapers.

We had our family over for pizza, pasta salad and cake.  Brenda brought fruit salad and Sheila bought appetizers.  Always fun to get together!

More cleaning

In keeping with our "Spring Cleaning in the Summer", Don cleaned some more tile and put grout around the bathtub.  Before he got to the tub, I washed down the ceramic tile around the tub, cleaned the tub and bleached the tub bottom to get some yellow out.  Looks good now.  I also finished the other bathroom tile, shower doors, etc.  In between I cleaned out the coffee pot with vinegar as it was popping and hissing when we brewed coffee.  And I cooked some Wacky Mac for a salad while I was running clear water thru the coffee pot.

We went to another new place, Freddy's - a hamburger place.  We were not thrilled with the food or the prices.  Not a go back.

He finally quit!

Barbeque and Bakery

We went to Panera for a bagel and then to Sprint.  I had a question about our new cell phones.  I'm not sure I got the best answer but enough information that I can solve the problem.  After that, which took too long, we went to HyVee for groceries.  Don got a bit carried away in the bakery!

In the evening we went to a new place at an old place, Rack Shack Barbeque.  (It is in the space where our once favorite Chinese restaurant was located.  They started cutting corners and went out of business.)  You would never know it is the same place, entirely redecorated.  The food was good, will go back.

Don's stack of bakery goods that he brought home!

Dirt

Big cleaning day.  Don worked hard to clean the grout between the ceramic tiles in the master bathroom and front entry.  I washed the rugs from the two rooms (the entry rugs were really bad).  I also used furniture polish on the kitchen cupboards, trim and cleaned out the sliding door slides.  Found some  "real" dirt!

Wore us out, not used to so much manual labor!

July 4th.

Strange day.  Started out with heavy rain until about 10 AM.  Stopped in time for the parade.  Then rain again in the afternoon.  This is getting old, hard to make plans and now we have plenty of moisture.  We got lots of lightning and thunder but thankfully no wind or hail.  Just feel sorry for our daughter's dog who really has a hard time with thunder.

We watched some fireworks over the trees at our house and watched the New York fireworks on TV.

Why the rain???

Ok, Mr. Weatherman why the rain.  Today was forecast to be 100% sunshine.

We had our morning bagel at Panera and then went to Aldi's and Walmart.  Didn't need much.  We did get a collapsible lawn chair for an excellent price.  Need one to take places.  We came home and drank the rest of the coffee on the deck until more rain chased us inside.

Monday again

Cleaned the house - again.  Our internet was down for a good part of the day.  Our cell phones can work as a "hot spot" but we had not tried that before.  Finally figured out how.  How could we live without getting online????

It was hot again today, the AC ran a lot.  Too hot to cook (my excuse for the day) so we got KFC chicken for dinner.

July 1

July already.  We got up to a heavy rain.  Changed our plans about where we were going for breakfast to a place where the parking is right by the door.  It rained all morning but turned to sun in the afternoon.  After all the heat I'm sure the grass and trees needed the rain.

Our daughters came over in the afternoon, Brenda brought some homemade brownies, still warm and very good!

We grilled some salmon for dinner.
