Errand day

Lots of errands to run today, this morning we went to McDon's for breakfast.  Then to Goodwill - I'm looking for MH dishes now that everything is in the house.  I found an 8 X 8 glass pan.  Then to Cubs where I loaded up on cheese and coffee (fun combination).  CVS for shampoo and a wedding card.

In the afternoon we went to Chaps, another used outlet, where I found a few things.  It was to Aldi's for the first time and to a farmer's market.  We stopped by Arby's for sandwiches to take home for dinner.

We got caught up on "House of Cards", hope there is another season as it left us hanging.

Busy days

Don had an eye doctor appointment yesterday, doesn't need new glasses.  Today the Honda had an appointment for transmission oil change and check over.  Surprising enough it doesn't need any more work.  Don was worried about the brakes but they are fine.  They also washed the car!

Then, being about out of of everything, we went for groceries.

I got my new computer but am struggling with Windows 8.  I can upgrade to Windows 10 for free - heard it is more like 7.

Motorhome is repaired

Our motorhome is now repaired.  New air conditioner, new ice maker, new door lock.  Fortunately all this was covered by our extended warranty which expires next week.  We went to Imperial Campers and paid our co-pay and put our MH in storage until the end of Sept.  After living in this MH for 8 years full time it seems strange to just drive off and leave it for two months!

We have a hot and humid day, a day one goes from house air conditioning to car air conditioning to business air conditioning, etc.

THE "ARE YOU KIDDING" CAKE

3 large eggs
1 box cake mix (any flavor)
1 can pie filling (any flavor)

Put the three ingredients into a bowl, mix them well, and bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees in a 9 x13 pan.

It’s got almost a pudding-cake kind of consistency, lighter than pound cake. It’s spotted on the inside with little pieces of whatever fruit filling you are using. The edges are crispy, like you would get on brownies.

Visits

Brenda came for a visit in the afternoon.  She told us about her South Dakota vacation and also brought "green" pickles and beet pickles from her cousin Lisa.

After dinner Sheila, Josh and Bri came for a visit.  They are leaving soon for Yellowstone and back through South Dakota.

In the morning we made yet another Menards (home store) visit.  The 4th in a week.

New light

We are getting to the end of things that need to be done to the house - I hope.  Today Don installed our new dinning room light.  With that we get rid of all the gold colored stuff and are all silver.

MN drivers

We decided this is the time to get Minnesota Driver's Licenses.  A knowledge test is required.  We found some sample tests on the internet, took them and failed - both of us failed.  We tried again and again and occasionally we would get lucky and pass one.  I read the manual on-line.

So today we went to the exam station.  On the way there we agreed that there was little chance of passing the test.  We both did pass, I missed two questions and Don just eeked by.  It is done, thank goodness and we are MN drivers.

We were so glad to get that done we went to the court house and filed for Homestead (whatever that is, something pertains to house taxes).  That was something needing to be done from the time we purchased the house.

Weekend

Quite weekend.  Paneras for dinner last night, breakfast today at Cracker Barrow.

We've been doing things around the house like usual.  Also reading and watching "House of Cards" on TV.

A big storm rolled through the area early Saturday morning but we didn't know.  Heard a little thunder.  In the morning there were leaves down on our deck so knew there was some wind.

Daughter and Granddaughter are enjoying time in western South Dakota!

Unloading more boxes

Went to breakfast at McDonald's, the post office and Walmart for a few groceries.  Then it was back home where I had Don bring in the 4 boxes which had been stored for 14 years that contained things I had collected over the years.  Dishes from generations before me, things given to me, etc.  It was good to see them again, brought back many memories.

I got them all washed and put in the China Cupboard and around the house.  I still have things to do around the house but this was my final big job.

More shopping

Shopping continued today.  Home depot - looked at dinning room light fixtures.  The Kohl's where I purchased a new set of sheets.  Finally Fleet Farm where again we looked at lighting.

We went across the highway to Cracker Barrow for lunch and home.

Ikea today

Ikea trip today.  I am sure I got my 10,000 steps in today!  We walked the whole store and bought two nightstands and a small mirror.  There are some things still on our list, just not ready to buy yet.  There were a lot of people and kids which sometimes made it difficult to get around, but then our gazing around blocked a few people as well.

Mugs

We made another step in the positive direction in getting the townhouse settled.  Don bought some wood to put on top of the kitchen cupboards to display my coffee mug collection.  I ran the mugs through the dishwasher and then we put them up.  It looks nice and good to see the mugs again after them being in storage for 14 years.

This is hardly the last thing we need to do but one more project done!

Surgeon appointment

My 6 week post surgery check-up went well.  None of the stupid things I have done in the last 6 weeks have damaged my back.  The doctor wants me to do some aquatic physical therapy.  He gave me a prescription for more pain pills and a handicap parking permit!    Return in another 6 weeks.

We have TV!

Antenna Man arrived right when he said he would, he told us over the phone he would look over the situation, see if he could help and come back another day with parts, etc.

He spent a few minutes looking around and said he could get us set up in about 30 minutes using the old antenna in the top of the garage and existing cabling.  That is what he did and also programmed the remote and gave us good instructions.

End result --- we have local TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Independence Day

We spent some time readjusting the wall hangings and then just relaxed for once.

In the evening we went to the Dennis' to watch fireworks from their back yard.  They had some friends we visited with and enjoyed fireworks from many directions.  Some reflected in their pond and were double nice.

Walls get hung

We spent considerable time in the garage going through the things Sheila and Ken brought over.  Dug out some stuff we can use and also all the wall hangings.  We then put up most of the wall hangings, not an easy job to decide where and how to hand them.  Makes the house look more and more like our house.

Comforter

Don needed to go to Shakopee today so he dropped me off at Kohl's where I found a comforter for our bed after much looking in stores and on-line.  I am glad to finally have a nice one and the old motorhome one can be stored for when we move back.  Makes the whole bedroom look decent.  Now curtains, I most assuredly will have to hem anything I buy so not too anxious.

Where is the Antenna Man

Big day in our household, the Geek Squad delivered and sat up our new television.  We have been without one sense moving out of the motorhome.  (I haven't missed it much, but Don has been moaning.)

All went well until they connected the antenna and nothing.  Would not pull in an over-the-air channel.  They tried several things and then told us their "Antenna Man" would have to visit us.  We can get Netflix so watched an episode of House of Cards.
