Weekend in review

We stayed home Saturday except to have dinner at Pizza Ranch.  (We had a $10 off coupon)  They have OK pizza and great chicken.

Sunday we went for breakfast at Cracker Barrow, good as usual.  Then we went to Menards, they had a big sale going and there were a number of things I need for the motorhome on sale.  I went up and down every aisle and found one item.  I was mad and sat that one item down by the cash register and told them I was NEVER coming back.  I will probably relent, but PLEASE if you have stuff on sale, even if it is the first day of the sale, have your shelves stocked.

When we got home we read the Sunday newspaper and in the afternoon sat outside and read for awhile.  We grilled pork chops for dinner and watched Scandal episodes in Netflix.  (We are caught up on House of Cards and Orange is the New Black shows.)

Three days in one

Don changed the oil in the car Wednesday, we just stayed home.  Thursday we went for groceries and just as we passed my favorite Dollar Store I decided I wanted to make a visit.  I found lots of good stuff for the MH, measuring cups and spoons, divider baskets, etc.  Had a cart full and it came to only $8.  In the evening I tried out the Belgium waffle iron I got for my birthday.  It worked well, easy to use and made good waffles.  We ate too many.

Today we went to Target and Best Buy comparing printer ink prices.  Best Buy matched Target's price which was good as I had a $15 Best Buy coupon.  We brought home KFC chicken for dinner.  I decided it was time to try out the internet controlled light switch I had gotten for my birthday.  Didn't take too long to get it working with some help from Brenda.  It surprised Don when the light came on by itself.

On the hunt

We are on the hunt for items for the Motorhome as we have moved all to the house.  Today we went to two Goodwill stores where I found some things like kitchen utensils, bowls, small plates and small glasses.

First we went for breakfast at Little Six Casino and to the bank to put some jewelry in our safe deposit box.

Birthday dinner

Sheila and family and Brenda joined us for dinner at Buca's (an Italian restaurant that serves family style) for my birthday dinner.  Rebecca is off to college in South Dakota.  Afterwards we came to our house for cake and ice cream.

Sheila gave us a restaurant gift card and a Belgian waffle iron.  We had been saying that at Christmas when we stay in a motel we have waffles for breakfast but this year we will be at home so no waffles.  Now we can make our own!

Besides home made zucchini bread, coffee and bread mix, Brenda gave us a internet remote to turn off and on lights.  Funny thing is that we were talking just this morning about buying one!

Was great to get together with everyone!  Made my birthday especially happy!!!

Birthday

My birthday today.  We went on a Riverboat cruise with lunch on the Mississippi River out of Stillwater, MN.  It was a nice day, a little windy but OK.  We had a good lunch on the two hour trip.  Stopped for ice cream cones on the way home and later went to Panera for dinner.

Seeing Rebecca off to college

Rained most of the day, but the lawns needed some water.  

We went out for a mid-morning break with granddaughter Rebecca.  Had a good visit before she heads off to college on Friday.  She is excited and we wish her well!

Sunday

Turned out to be a rainy day, the good news it is going to cool down now.  Went out to breakfast as usual and then I had a "couple" more things I needed at Kohl's before my 30% off expired.

Sheila and family invited us over for dinner.  Had my first wine since back surgery in May.  Good!  Was good to see them again after their trip to Yellowstone.

Kohl's loves me

I went to Kohl's (Department Store) today to spend the two $10 gift certificates they have sent me and also to use my 30% off coupon.  I bought rugs, pillow covers, Don new dress pants and a shirt, a couple shirts for myself and more.  Everything was on sale and with my gift certificates I really did well in the savings.  And they gave me another $10 to spend next week.

All this mystified Don, he never is with me when I pay.  He couldn't believe how much savings I racked up!

We went to dinner at Chili's, they have good ribs but there fried pickles are great!

Chair

My back (had surgery in May) drives me crazy when I work on the computer.  I have been sitting on a dinning room chair which is too heavy to pull up to the table so I set on the edge.  Not a good plan.  Don was tired of hearing my complaining so today we got an official Office Chair and chair mat.  I tried out the chairs and found one with good back support.  Using it now and it is so much better!

We have extreme heat warnings out today.  Up to 90 degrees and high hummidity - just summer in Minnesota.

Sun and computers

We have been enjoying sitting out on the deck, getting some sun and then moving to the shade.  I have been spending a lot of time getting the new computer loaded.  I think I am about done and then there is something else to do.  The real fun part will be teaching Don how to use the new computer.  I hope he doesn't become too frustrated.  I am NOT keeping two computers.

Weekend

Don got our new end tables and coffee table put together.  They look nice, I like them.  We moved them around some to find the best place.  

We went for dinner at Ruby Tuesday's, we like their salad bar.  Not many places have salad bars anymore.  Then of course we had a couple stops to make on the way home.

Week in review

Week in review:

Getting the new computer set up.  I keep having other "office" things that get in the way.  I'm getting accustomed to new bills for the Townhouse, when and how to pay them.  I'm trying to get auto pay and paperless bills set up for all recurring bills.  You'd think that would be a snap but no, some make you jump through hoops.  Wouldn't that make their accounting easier as well as mine?

One medical bill I paid and indicated a change of address.  Then I get another bill for the same thing, marked past due mailed to my new address.  I called - the bill for my old address was paid.  The same bill, new address was not paid.  Finally convinced them it was one in the same.

This past week we have spent some time on the deck getting some sun.  Glad things are slowing down some.
