Off on the cruise

We got up at 5AM, got ready and got the trailer ready to leave.  On the road to 7AM for the 5 hour trip to Ft. Lauderdale.  Our reserved parking spot for our car Park and GO was much more organized than before.  We pulled up and a man unloaded our luggage and put it in a mini bus and we were on our way.  Once at the pier it was a good walk to check-in (passport and Medallion which Princess had mailed to us) and then security.  A new stop was where we had to complete forms stating we had not been in an Asian country in the last month, then they ran our passports just to check.

Another long walk, up a floor, walk again and finally we were on the ship.  Everyone seem confused and so were we, finally I asked which was the front of the ship - got onintated and got to our cabin.  This ship is only 5 months old so everything is nice and new!  Our room stewart finally arrived, turns out he is a gib-jager.  Not good English so he answers our questions with a lot of words that don't make sense.    He kept popping in and out as we were trying to empty our suitcases.

Dinner was appetizer of pawns and cold pina colada soup.  We had groper (fish) for dinner.  We have groper fresh in Florida, not the same.  We went to the theater to see a comedian who was good, would have been better if we were not so tired.

About set to sail!

Packing finished except for last minute stuff.  Looks like it is a go.  If I forgot something - too too bad.  Looks like we are taking all we own.

We had to make a trip to Walmart for a couple last minute things and car gas.  Gas prices are way down which is great when we have a lot of miles ahead.

Hopefully we will sleep better tonight and cough less.  We are armed with all sorts of cold meds.

Packing and spice

Don got the suitcases down and I started parking, actually got a lot done but had to drive myself.  Not a lot of time left.  We were seriously considering not going on the cruise because we feel so rotten but guess we'll give it a try.  We would loose our money at this point.   Once we get on the ship we can chill out major league.

We went to the dinner at the clubhouse.  It was Chicken Gumbo, greens, salad and dessert.  The gumbo was good but even for me a bit spicy.  Way too spicy for Don.  The greens were really good.

Rain and colds

We got a major rain this afternoon.  We needed some rain, things were looking brown.  The azaleas are blooming and need the moisture.  After not going outside for two days, I went to 10 AM coffee.  I tried to not sit too close to people so they wouldn't get my cold.  That is probably the place where I got the germs.

Colds and hot and humid

Another stay at home day while babying our colds.  I am about to get "cabin fever".  I am slowly doing stuff to get ready for the cruise.  Don is mostly sleeping.

It got really dark in the late afternoon and we got a little rain, still hot so now hot and humid.

We had chicken kiev for dinner and watched the Democratic debate on TV.  Still no outstanding candidate in our mind although I like Amy.

Clean car and colds

When we opened the blinds this morning we saw our neighbor Mike washing our car.  Don asked him if maybe he was ashamed to be living beside such a dirty car!  He said he had the hoses and stuff out so after he washed his truck he decided to wash our car.  Very nice of him.

We cleaned the house, took all the energy we had left after fighting colds.  Looks like Don has conjunctivitis (pink eye).  I checked the Mayo Clinic site, they suggested using a type of eye drops that I just happened to have on hand.  Will see how his eyes look tomorrow, if a doctor visit will be needed.  My cold isn't nearly as bad, cough some, sore throat, some soreness in my ears.  While Don is surly on his deathbed, according to him.

We ate dinner at home, some pasta and shrimp thing and had garlic bread which I fixed in my toaster oven which made it really good.  Then we watched some TV, I did anyway while Don slept.  He says he wasn't sleeping but I heard snoring.  We HAVE to get well in the next few days or no cruise as they are being very careful about not letting sick people on board.

Sunday and sick day

We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then picked up a Sunday Newspaper.  Don is feeling awful with his cold taking full force.  I am not as bad, I am never as bad.  Came home and read the paper, took a nap.  Then sat and did nothing.

I talked to our daughters in the evening and we watched some TV or I watched while Don snored.  I woke him up a few times and then just left him alone.

Omlet, shrimp and Home Zone

Don got his job back helping with breakfast at the clubhouse.  The workamper that was doing the job quit.  It was a very cold morning, about 32 degrees so I decided I didn't want to get out.  Don brought me breakfast!

We went to Beef O'Brady's for dinner and then made our third stop to see if the "Home Zone" man was home.  This time he was there and we bought the stuff to keep mold and bugs out of our trailer for the summer.

Brooksville

We went to Brooksville for dinner at Panera.  I had their good apple salad.

Afterwards Don stopped by Harbor Freight for a few things and the home.

Best dessert award!

Today is our daughter's birthday!

We went to McDonald's for breakfast.  We see a lot of the same people there every time.  The have a huge pro-trump gathering.  We try to sit as far as possible from them.

Then we went to Walmart for some food and more "cruise stuff"  like contact solution, vitamins and other stuff.  Saw several people from our park there.  We came back in time for 10 AM coffee.

In the evening we went to dinner at the clubhouse.  It was Mexican lasagna which was good and white corn bread.  Also a really good salad with avocado and a dessert that was unreal.  The dessert was a brownie with chocolate chips for the bottom layer, then a thick layer of whipped cream, a layer of fudge like frosting and then a dollop of whipped cream on top with brownie crumbs sprinkled over.

Quiet day

A stay at home day except for 10 AM coffee at the clubhouse.  We both had projects we wanted to conquer.

We grilled brats for dinner.  Nice quiet day.

Brooksville today

We went to Brooksville for pre-cruise haircuts.  First we had bagels at Panera.  Panera is usually very busy but today for whatever reason they were about empty.

Then we went to Aldi's grocery store for a "few things" which of course turned out to be nearly $30.  Picked up hamburgers for lunch at McDonalds on the way home.

It turned out to be a hot and humid day, had the air conditioner on all day and evening.

Just another Monday

After cleaning the house, I didn't have much energy left!  We did go to 10 AM coffee inbetween.  We had lasagna from the freezer for dinner along with a salad and texas toast.

Brenda flys!

We went to San Antonio (Florida) for breakfast at Denny's, they have good food and service there.  We came home and did our Sunday stuff, including reading the Sunday newspaper.

For dinner we grilled smoked pork chops and had rolls and fries.

Daughter Brenda had an exciting announcement:  she earned her private pilots license!

Saturday

We went for breakfast at the clubhouse.  This week Don didn't need to work as there is a new workamper that got the job.  There were fewer people than usual even though the campground remains almost full.

For dinner we went to Zaxby's, good as usual.

Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's day gift to each other has turned out to be new blinds in the front part of our trailer - 7 blinds in all.  Today the installer came and had them up in an hour.  (It makes me nervous when people are working on my stuff, so I went to coffee at the clubhouse.)

Then Don had to put back the valances and side curtains.  He ran out of drive and left the rest until later.  The new blinds look very nice, a bigger change than I predicted.  They operate so easy, just push a button on the blind and guide them up or down.  No strings to break!

Later a friend brought her new puppy over to show me.  It is so sweet, a dorkie.  Now I want one.

We went into town to go to the post office and do a couple other things and stopped by Arby's for a sandwich for dinner.

Pre - Valentines Day

We went to "Valentines" dinner at the clubhouse.  It was roast beef, mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy, cooked carrots.  Again heavy on the carbs and gravy.  It was OK, just OK.  They did have a good salad with kale, nuts, blue cheese, etc. and a good, but very surgery dessert - chocolate cake with lots of frosting and whipped cream with a big strawberry.

The people that came early spread out so our group was unable to get a table together, next week we will need to go earlier.

Pre, pre Valentines Dinner

McDonald's for breakfast and then to Walmart.  I don't know how we spend so much money at Walmart.  We got back to the park in time to go to morning coffee.

We went to Brooksville for dinner at Texas Roadhouse.  They were busy but we called ahead and didn't have to wait long for a table.  We had good steak, salad and sweet potato.  Don had a tall beer and I had a Margarita "with a boost".

The TV show Survivor first show was on tonight.  Looks like it will be a good season.

Stay at home day

A slow day, good to have a slow day!  Went to 10 AM coffee, did stuff around the house.  Our new blinds came so calling the man who is suppose to install them.

We had orange chicken for dinner and watched TV.

Air condo back on today

Had to go back to air conditioning today as it was in the 80's and will be all week.  We cleaned the house and did stuff around the trailer.

For dinner we had tuna casserole.

Waffle House and smoke

We went to Waffle House for breakfast, great as usual.  Then to the grocery store "Winn Dixie" afterwords.  I sat outside and read the Sunday newspapers, glad it is warming up again.

When we left for breakfast there was an area across the road that was smoking.  In the evening it became a real fire and the firefighters had to be called.  No one seems to know what or who started the fire.

We grilled some steak for dinner and also had sweet potato fries and salad.

Shrimp and Funnel Fries

We went to Beef O'Brady's for dinner.  They have a 2 for $20 special - we had shrimp that came with rice and broccoli and their good "funnel fries" for dessert.

Mexican eating

We stuck around the park all day except for going to dinner at the "new" Mexican restaurant in Bushnell.  The restaurant was a Chinese place when we first came to the area, we ate there once and decided no need to go again.  It closed and the place remained empty for awhile until a Mexican restaurant named Coyote Mogon opened, it was a very good Mexican place.  Then it closed after several years and another Mexican restaurant opened in the same place - it was not good and also expensive.  Soon it closed.  When we were here in October there was an Internet Cafe in the place.  When we got back in January another Mexican restaurant had opened called Pico De Gallo.  That's where we went last night and will go again.

Escapees Luncheon

Today we went to Clermont to the Escapees RV Club chapter luncheon.  Not as many people as usual were there, most of the people are from our park.  Then we stopped at Aldi's for a few groceries.

On the way home picked up a subway for dinner.  We were almost still too full to eat.

Buying "stuff"

We went to McDonald's for breakfast and then to Walmart.  We spent more on "stuff" than on groceries.  When we got back we went to 10 AM coffee, there were the most people I've seen at coffee.

Sat outside again in the afternoon reading and doing puzzles.  We had leftover pizza for dinner.

Tuesday, February 4, 2020

Nice day to be outside!

We went to 10 AM coffee, there are getting to be more and more people that attend.

It was a nice day, I sat outside most of the afternoon reading and doing Sudoku puzzles.

For dinner we had scrambled eggs, bacon and cinnamon buns that I baked in my new countertop oven.

Serenity

My great niece, Serenity has been missing for one year today.  Prayers for her and her family!

Super Bowl Sunday

We went to Shake and Shake for breakfast.  We were afraid a lot of people heading towards the Super Bowl would be there as it is just off the highway, but they must have already been in Mamai as the place only had a few customers.

We came home and read the Sunday Newspaper.  We decided not to go to the park Super Bowl party but recorded the Super Bowl and later watched some of the game, the ads and the half time show.

Breakfast, Blinds and Pizza

Don helped with the park breakfast again today.  It had started raining about 4 AM and was raining heavily so I decided to stay home and have cereal, but Don delivered a breakfast to me.  Unexpected treat!  They had a good turnout despite the rain.

The rain was really needed, there was hardly any in January.  It really made things green!

In the afternoon we got the call that the man that measured for blinds had turned in the trailer's measurements so we went to Home Depot in Spring Hill and picked out blinds.  They will be sent to us and then we call to get them installed.

We picked up a Monticello's pizza on the way home.  They are the best pizza's.
