Shopping and waffles

This morning we went to HyVee grocery store for their specials.  There prices seem more competitive than last summer so I ended up buying most of what was on my grocery list.  Not many people in the store, perhaps because it was raining out.  We got some of their great honey butter rolls, almost like popovers.  I had to watch Don in the bakery, he did get one thing in the cart but tried for more.

I made waffles for dinner, good cold evening meal!

Thinking of the folks in Rocky Mountain National Park.  We have visited there many times, such a beautiful place.

Panera for breakfast

We went to Panera for breakfast, like our habit of last summer.  They have good coffee!  Then to Cub Foods for their specials and finally to CVS Pharmacy for coffee and coke.

I had gotten some pre-mixed meat loaf at Cubs so I baked that for dinner.

Don't know how many zillion of these I made as a kid:

Rain, not snow!

A weird day, cold with rain - even a thunder storm.  We finished with the Christmas decorations and cleaned the house.

In the afternoon we went to Target to take advantage of their 15% off (plus the 5% for my Target Red card).  We actually spent $181 as we both got new winter jackets and some outside Christmas lights along with a few groceries and gifts.  When we went to leave it was raining like crazy outside so we sat in the eating area until the rain stopped.  Then we went to KFC for some chicken for dinner.

Get it done Sunday

We ate breakfast at Cracker Barrow and then went to Menards again.  They had some good sales, we forgot a couple things so that gives Don reason to go again this week.

When we came home we read some paper and took a nap, called procrastinating over getting the tree and house decorated for Christmas.  Then I decided I might as well get it done and with Don's help got most done.  Then finished reading the papers before we fixed dinner.

We watched some TV in the evening, I am really tired!

Saturday and busy

Lots to get done today, set up the Christmas Tree and decorate, internet shop, clean kitchen and bathrooms and wash towels, etc.  The big thing is getting Kohl's shopping done as today and only today the % off coupon and $15 back for every $50 sent converge.

Brenda and Becca came over in the afternoon, hadn't seen Becca for awhile.  She goes back to college on Sunday.

We went to TGI Fridays for dinner.

Black Friday

We grabbed some breakfast and then went shopping.  First to Menards where we got a cart full and then had to wait in line to pay about 30 minutes.  Then to Fleet Farm, lots of people but no lines.  CVS next, like usual didn't find everything advertised and like usual when we looked over the receipt the coupons were not deducted.  Don took it back in and got the $3 they managed to cheat us.  Then Don went into Walmart for a new coffee pot.  No crowds there!  We got home about noon, had lunch and took a nap!

I shopped the internet but didn't put in any orders - yet.  Had leftover Chili and salad for dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving!

We spent the morning watching the Macy's parade on TV and perusing the many, many ads in the newspaper.  Had some crackers and cheese for lunch as don't want to spoil our dinner and yet don't want to pass out from hunger.  Took a nap and made the salad, made a lot more than I thought it would!

We went to daughter Sheila and family's home for Thanksgiving Dinner and it was great.  Perfect turkey and all the trimmings.  Enjoyed visiting with the expanded Dennis family.  Very nice Thanksgiving.

Snow

We woke up about 4 AM to a very unfamiliar noise - snow plows!  Looks like we may have gotten about 3 inches of snow overnight.  It is above freezing so the roads should melt fast.

In the afternoon I went to the doctor for a recheck on the cellulitis, she thought all looked good except for some swelling still.  Gave me 5 more days of antibiotics.  Then we ran some errands and got the leaf lettuce for the salad I'm taking for Thanksgiving dinner.  Finally we picked up sandwiches to bring home for dinner.  Don splurged and also got milk shakes!

In the evening we watched the two hour Survivor on TV, can't miss that!

Freezing Rain

We did get the freezing rain, a good day to stay home.  I'm doing a lot of internet surfing for Christmas ideas as I will be shopping mostly on the computer.  It is good to have fast, unlimited internet access!

I made a pot of Chili for dinner, a good meal on a cold day.

Laundry and more groceries

Was good to have a slow morning, I did some pick-up, put away things and washed a couple loads.  Not sure what Don did besides get the garbage out to the curb.

We went to dinner at Paneras and decided, because the weather forecast was for freezing rain tomorrow, to get groceries this evening for the Thanksgiving salad I'm making.  Of course we got a whole lot more.  The store was busy but not like I expected.

Sunday in MN

We slept good in our own bed.  Nothing like Memory Foam!  We braved the cold and went out for breakfast and then to Walmart for groceries.  Bought a lot!  Then to Menards, Don favorite place and first visit since September.

In the afternoon our daughters came over for a visit.  Great to see them again!!!

I baked pork chops for dinner.

There is no place like home!

After we checked out of the Crest motel we went to Seven Villages restaurant for breakfast.  It was indescribably good.  The bacon was the best, a pancake bigger than the plate, eggs and sliced fried potatoes.

Again the traffic was heavy, but the roads were clear - we weren't too certain how they would be this morning.  We stopped at a McDonald's for lunch.  The wind was so cold it gave me a brain freeze headache.  About 1 PM we got to our house, good to be home again.  We unloaded our stuff quickly so we could relax.

Got sandwiches from Arby's for dinner and watched some TV that I had remotely recorded.

We always note when we go through Paducah or hear the name on the TV.

Another day on the road

We got out of the motel at 7:15 and on the road.  We didn't sleep well as it was so warm in our room and couldn't find a way to cool it down.  Stepping outside, even though it was 60 degrees felt great.  Our king bed was about waist high on me, was a real challenge for me to get up into.  No good pillows but otherwise the place was nice.  A good breakfast.

The traffic was fairly heavy all day, lots and lots of trucks.  It was warm all day until about when we got to Iowa.  We went through a weather front and then got cold and high wind.  Glad we didn't have our motorhome!

Tonight we picked a ma and pa motel Crest Country Inn.  It is clean and fine, we'll see how the beds are, think we will sleep no mater what.

We went to the Ronneburg Restaurant in Amana for dinner.  A good German place, food served family style.  They gave me some pickled beets to take home!

Tonight we have the high wind yet and a little rain.  Hope it doesn't turn into ice!

Big city day

We got on the road about 6:30 this morning.  It didn't take long for a truck to decide they wanted our lane and about side swiped us, thanks to Don's quick action we avoided the truck.  Then in Nashville a car rear ended a car and caught on fire right beside us, thankfully it didn't blow up at least when we were in the area.

Got into Clarksville, TN about 5 PM.  We went to eat before we checked into our motel at La Quinta.  Traveled through Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Nashville.  No huge cities tomorrow but another long day.

Packing

Lots to do today.  Packing to go north tomorrow.  It all falls on me not to forget anything, heaven forbid anything really important.  So it is a lot of pressure on me, more pressure on me as I don't feel all that well yet.  It is hard to be on my feet too long.

The weather sounds iffy once we got to Iowa, we really don't need a repeat of the near blizzard we went thru last year.  Just wish we could teleport home and skip the in-between!

Good to be home!

Again, good to be home.  I slept 10 hours last night and feel much better.  Leg and foot are still swollen a lot and more pink than red.  Taking antibiotics.  If we are going to head north in two days I have lots of stuff to do, I am slow but working on things.

I finally got the house cleaned and some other things done.  Was very tired in the evening and I went to bed early again.

Home

I told the nurse that if the doctor did not dismiss me I was going to leave.  They can not legally keep me.  I am not thrilled with this hospital, the people are nice but the care is minimal.  Probably I am just spoiled by the Minneapolis hospitals.  Haven't had a shower my whole stay, was told to wait to get help but after several times asking was alway put off.  Same sheets on bed, bathroom getting bad.  Food bad, but roomate told me to call and change around some items, that helped.  I got my morning meds at 2 PM.  IV's are always late.  Coffee is like sewer water, Don is bringing me coffee from home and/or McDonalds.  Roommate's alarms going off all night, takes forever to get them shut off.  She fell last night, I had to call for help, that was a commotion and then they came later to take her for a head xray so alarms again when they disconnected her.  The night before a man across the had "coded" was like a scene from a hospital show.  SO I haven't gotten any sleep.

The doctor did dismiss me, so glad to get home.  First thing I did was take a shower.  So good to be home, early bed time tonight.

Still in the hospita

Still in the hospital.  IV's and more IV's.  I don't feel too bad but my leg is blood red.  White Blood count dow.

Hospital

Not one of my favorite days.  I discovered I have cellulitis on my left leg, went into the emergency room and they sent me to the hospital.  I had a way high white blood count and the infection was traveling up my knee, following my knee replacement scar.

11/11

Veterans Day.  We didn't expect there to be many people at the morning coffee as a lot got to the nearby National Cemetery for their Veterans Day ceremony, but there was a good crowd.

We have another nice day, no need for AC.  It was even a little cool this morning!

We ate stuff in our freezer, still plenty to go.  I bought up too much in advance.

Clubhouse cay

After a dark, dreary, cold and humid day yesterday we have a great day today!  We went to the Clubhouse coffee hour, lots of people there.

In the evening it was back to the clubhouse for the first weekly dinner.  This week it was BQ chicken, last time we had it there it was not done and I couldn't eat my chicken but tonight it was fall off the bone done and very good.

Just a day

We went to Walmart and CVS today, didn't need much as we are trying to eat everything in the refrigerator before we leave next week.

Just sat around and read in the afternoon and watched some TV in the evening.  Grilled some brats for dinner as we continue to empty the refrigerator before we leave.

Byby American Pie, drove the chevy to the levee but the levee was dry. The day America died

We went to Tampa today just because we wanted to, not for anything special.  We ate at Sweet Tomatoes, been about 7 months, long time without Sweet Tomatoes.  The we did a little shopping.

In the evening we watched the election returns and it was not a pleasant outcome.  Trump won, looks like Clinton has the popular vote but not the electoral vote.  Like the Trumpsters were saying, get rid of the electoral vote!  I truly don't know how I can stand looking at his orange face for 4 years.  We will see if he holds true to any of his promises or if he creates more chaos than results.  I'm sure Mexico is starting to build the wall today.  Anyway I will be watching along with half of the USA.

Monday and stuff

Cleaned house today and went to coffee at the clubhouse in the middle of the job.  No reason to hurry getting the house clean!

In the afternoon my left arm started hurting, a lot, from my shoulder to my fingers.  My back really hurt and I was cold and then hot over and over.  I just wonder if it was a reaction to my flu shot 4 days ago.  We got the high powered ones so may have been a worse reaction.  I was seriously thinking of taking a oxycodone pill, but stuck to ibuprofen.

Elections one day away, hopefully we will soon know who our next president will be.  A thought that scares me silly.  We voted absentee ballots a couple weeks ago so all we have to do is sit back and watch.  At least the political ads will be over, it seems like it is a contest to see who can go lower in their comments.

Good Sunday!

We went to San Antonio for breakfast..  San Antonio Florida, not Texas.  Came home and did some things and then started on our huge pile of Sunday papers.  We had both the Tampa paper and Leesburg paper.  Tampa paper supports Clinton, says she is sure to win Florida, Leesburg paper supports Trump, says he is sure to win Florida.  They both did say it could be a tie, triggering a recount.  NO, Please!

Finished the papers in the afternoon and then went to the park's ice cream social late afternoon.  Not too many people there, but we had good conversations.  Fixed Beef Tips over mashed potatoes for dinner.  We had bought a pecan pie which was a excellent dessert.

Trip into town

We went to Winn Dixie Groceries for a few things and to pick up their Saturday sales.  On the way home we got behind a truck stopped at a light.  On the bumper was a Trump sticker, Ok everyone is allowed their opinion.  On the tail gate left side was an ad for their computer business, fine.  Then in the middle was a confederate flag sticker and on the right side was a picture of Hillary Clinton with black eyes and it said "put Hillarry (misspelled on truck) in prison.  Kinda of said it all to us.  I wouldn't have this red neck come in miles of my computer.  Somehow I think he spends his evenings with the KKK.

It is finally a cooler day and low humidity.  We stayed home for dinner.

Grandson's football team goes to sectional finals next week!

Slow Friday

Overstayed the coffee hour this morning.  People were there I had not seen since last spring so had a lot of catching up to do.  It seems to have cooled down some and not nearly as humid outside.

It was a slow afternoon with reading and catching up on stuff.  We went to Dade City to Captain D's for dinner and watched TV in the evening.

Lunch and flu shots

Today was the first of the monthly Escapees Chapter meetings for the winter months.  This is where we travel an hour to Clermont to have lunch with people from our RV park.  Today was a bit different as two couples and a single from a park south of Clermont showed up, they used to be at our park so it was good to see them.

Then we got our flu shots, so far I just have a little soreness at the shot site, hope that is all.  Also did a little shopping and stopped at Aldi for a couple groceries.  We got a couple subs on the way home for this evening.  Motorhome was plenty hot when we got back, hope it cools down as forecast.

McDonalds, Walmart, Survivor

We ate breakfast at McDonald's today.  I about lost it on a wet floor - brings back memories of a friend's husband that slipped on a wet McDonald's floor, hit the back of his head and died.  Scarie.  Then we went to Walmart for a few things, like we need to go every day!

Got back to the campground in time for 10 AM coffee at the clubhouse.  Turns out Wednesdays we are now going to have our conversations directed by our "Activity Host".  Todays conversation was: Who has a foundation home?  Everyone at the table did.  We'll see how this all works out!

When we came home I started a crock pot of Barbecues (Sloppy Joes or Wimpies depending on where you are from).  It was so hot in here I didn't know if I was going to get the job done until Don finally turned on the AC.  (Sheila - quarters)

Watched Survivor in the evening.  Was a good show with a suprise ending.

Hair cuts and Sony

We went to Brooksville today for hair cuts and lunch out.  Stopped at Walmart, Don found pop corn balls from Halloween for half price.  We like those!  We came home to a hot motorhome, I will be glad when it finally cools down - at least it is not raining.

Our sick Sony TV had a miracle heal.  The TV over the dash, which we seldom use, would not turn on.  Don checked the electricity, etc. all OK.  We called Sony which first they said "no problem" we will send you a new TV and you can send back the old in the same box.  Then they wanted more and more information including a picture of the serial number which is on the back of the TV.  So Don took the cupboard by the TV apart to get to the back.  When he got to the back he quickly discovered the electrical plug was not plugged into the back of the TV, must have worked it's way out.  He plugged it in all the TV works fine.
