Last of the hot days?

It was a warm day, got to 80 degrees.  Also very humid, we had to run the air conditioner to get the humidity down.  We cleaned the house as usual today.

We watched more of the impeachment news.  Sounds like Trump is just digging himself in deeper.

We had eggs and some sausage links that were in our freezer for dinner.

Scandal!

Breakfast at Denny's today.  It was lightly raining but we also went to Menards anyway.  Came home and read the Sunday newspapers.

Sheila came over for a visit in the afternoon.  In the evening we watched more TV.  We watched Meet the Press and Saturday Night Live so got all caught up on the big political scandal!

Frozen Custard!

We have a lot of stuff that needs to be done before we head to Florida, but guess we are waiting until the last minute.  We did get a few things done around the house.

For dinner we went to Culvers for sandwiches.  We had their frozen custard afterwards, always good.  Came home and started to get caught up on recorded TV.

Washing and Drying again

HyVee for breakfast this morning.  Then a little grocery shopping.  We are needing to be careful how many groceries we buy now as it is less than 3 weeks until we plan to head to Florida.

Our new washing machine and dryer were delivered today.  I had some things just waiting to wash!  They seem to work well, are bigger drums than I remembered.  I have to read the instructions each time I start a load, hopefully I will learn soon.

We went to Panera for dinner.  I wanted one of their new "warm bowls" (grains, beans, avocado, etc.).  Our usual Panera was out of them so we went to another Panera.  I don't know how they can be out just after 5PM.  Anyway the bowl was good, very filling.

Came home and watched some TV.  The new season has begun, I record the shows we want to see.  We are already behind.

Pain and impeachment

We went to Panera for a bagel this morning.  My back was hurting so bad I had to take a pain pill.  I take half a pill and it really takes care of the pain.

Then we went to Walmart for a couple things.  I sat in the car while Don made a couple more stops.

I still don't feel like eating.  Don fixed salads for dinner, which tasted fine.

We spent part of the day watching the House of Representatives hearing on impeachment.  Sounds like trump may have been cornered this time, will see.  Heard reports of the White House being utter chaos.  I can't imagine how trump is reacting, probably like a two year old.

Still recovering

Don seems to be feeling fine.  I still feel awful, especially my back.  We did manage to get out and get badly needed hair cuts.  My hair is too short, good it grows fast.

We are still not eating much.  Had scrambled eggs and toast for dinner.

Already seeing Christmas items in the stores.  This is SEPTEMBER.

Recovery

Don got up the usual time but I had just gotten to sleep after my awful sick night.  He let me sleep 45 minutes.  He can't stand anyone lollygoging in bed.  I had a glass of ice tea for breakfast.  He warmed up a can of chicken noodle soup for lunch.  Toast for dinner.

My back was an awful mess.  I could hardly move, nor did I want to move.  Glad when the day was over.

Sick

We ate yesterday's leftover breakfast for lunch.  We don't know for sure, but that or something else made us both sick.  First Don didn't feel well, then all the sudden I had to make a rush trip to vomit.  Don had some problems but I was up all night.  I thought death might be better than how I felt.  It was making my back hurt even more.  What a night.

Last day of Summer

Breakfast out again.  My back was hurting and I couldn't eat all my breakfast.  It will make a good lunch someday.

We came home to read the Sunday newspaper.  Our daughter Sheila came over in the afternoon for a visit.

In the evening we watched our recording of Meet the Press.  Each week there is something Trump has done that needs in depth examination.

We are not in Florida yet, but good to know they don't have "Fall" or "Winter".

Friday's on Saturday

Ate breakfast at home for a change!  Watched some morning TV.  In the afternoon our daughter Brenda came for a visit.  She had a busy day!

We went to Friday's for dinner.  We both got their good salmon salad.  They put a good size piece of salmon on top!

In the evening we watched a stupid movie on TV.  So stupid I can't even remember it or the name of it.

What would we do without HyVee?

We ate breakfast at HyVee and then got our groceries.  It was raining on and off but not heavy.

We stayed home the rest of the day.  Read and did Sudokus.  In the evening we got Chinese dinners from HyVee to eat at home.  Watched some TV.

In freezer case at the grocery store:

Doctor day

I went to the doctor for the pain in my back.  She says it is caused by muscles and prescribed some muscle relaxer to take before I go to bed.  Hope this helps, the pain is getting to be a pain.

We got a steak dinner from HyVee to bring home to eat for dinner.  Enjoying the warm weather even though it is humid.

Potato pancakes and pain

We went to Perkins for potato pancakes today, good as always.  I'm now living on pain pills for my back, so made a doctor appointment - long overdue.  I was surprised that I can get in tomorrow!

Didn't do much for the rest of the day.  Had camper eggs (scrambled with pepperoni. mushrooms and cheese for dinner.)

Suds

We knew it was going to happen - just when was the question.  The washing machine gave up trying to spin the clothing.  We can move to dial to a place that does make it spin but that is already getting to be a pain.

So we went washing machine shopping (and a new dryer as well and the one we have has a high squeal sometimes).   We found a pair that are "floor samples" at one place for a good price.  I don't care they come in a box, I do care they are a good price.  Down side is they can't deliver until the 27th.

Our excitement for the day.

Worn out back

The weather is hot for mid September, not that I mind.  We get enough of the cold stuff.

We cleaned the house.  I don't know why it is so hard on my back but by lunch I was in extreme pain.   I took a pain pill and laid down with the heating pad.  I felt much better in an hour.

For dinner we had some frozen scalloped potatoes and ham.

Sunday stuff

We went for breakfast at Cracker Barrel and then to Menards.  Menards was having a big sale but like always half the stuff I wanted was either gone or never stocked.  We came home and read the Sunday newspapers.

For dinner we grilled steak along with corn-on-the-cob and a salad.

Slow Saturday

We did stuff around the house most of the day.  Read the newspaper, etc.  For dinner we brought home chicken.  A slow Saturday.

No Clams

Breakfast at HyVee and then we got groceries, didn't need much for a change.  In the afternoon we read and caught up on stuff.

We went to Panera for dinner.  Don was anxious to have their special Friday soup - Clam Chowder.  BUT not this Friday, they didn't have it on the menu.

Senior Expo

This morning we went to a Senior Expo at the Apple Valley Senior Center.  This was the first time this had been done so we didn't expect too much but they had many booths sat up with things of interest to senior citizens.  There were many "advantage" insurance companies, mortuaries, senior housing booths.  Some hearing aid and some eye doctors and a few other things.  They were all giving out stuff (we were given a bag when we came in to collect our loot).  We got a lot of pens, note pads, magnetic clips and even a cookie.  We also went to an informational talk on medicare, learned a few new things.

Apple Valley sure knows how to treat their seniors.  The Senior Center is very nice, lots of room with meeting rooms, an auditorium, kitchen, eating area.  And that was on the first floor.  There is an elevator to the second floor, we didn't go there.

In the evening we got steak from HyVee for dinner, split a meal as neither of us were very hungry.  We watched the democratic debate in the evening, not much new but a couple good zingers!

Storms

We went to Panera for bagels today.  Good to get out.  There was a rain storm during the night.  Sioux Falls, SD had the storm first and had devastating tornadoes.  I called our sister-in-law as according to the map the storms were in her area.  She was fine, her apartment building OK but there were a lot of trees down.

We also went to Walmart and another store.  My back was hurting but walking doesn't seem to bother me.  I didn't feel like fixing dinner so we got sandwiches from Arby's.  Sheila came over in the evening with vegetables.

Today we think of all the people we lost in the 9/ll twin tower disaster.

Pain again

We stayed home again today.  My back is still hurting a lot although pain pills help.  I made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.  Really a slow day.

Pain

Cleaned the house in the morning despite my painful back.  I finally took half a pain pill, it put me to sleep.  In the late afternoon daughter Brenda came for a visit after her work.  She stayed for dinner, such as it was - waffles and fresh cantaloupe.

It rained on and off all day, sometimes rained hard.  It is very humid outside.

Sunday, September 8, 2019

Sunday

We went to Denny's for breakfast, we try to rotate the places.  Don went to Menards as they were having a sale.  I sat in the car nursing my bad back.

We came home and read the Star Tribune.  Sheila came over in the late afternoon.  We fixed ham, corn-on-the-cob, potatoes and salad for dinner.  I had no appetite, it is hard for me to move my right arm to eat.  (Hard also to type this.)  We watched the morning shows in the evening, we like Meet the Press.

Saturday, September 7, 2019

Exciting, not.

We sat around and drank coffee in the morning, got a few things done.  In the afternoon we read, etc.  Went to Panera for dinner salads.  Watched some TV in the evening.  What an exciting day.

Back still hurts, allergies still abound.

HyVee

We went to HyVee for breakfast and then did our weekly grocery shopping.  Again to day I work up feeling horrible, couldn't  breath (to the point I was dizzy) and my back hurt - a lot.  I took more hemp oil and it wasn't long before I could breathe again.  Didn't help my back but some ibuprofen did help.  When we came home I got my heating pad on my back.  Don't know if that helps heal but sure does make my back feel better.

In the evening back to HyVee for Chinese food, it had been a couple weeks.  Then we watched some TV that we had recorded.

Pollen

We actually ate breakfast at home and then did stuff around the house.  The weather is perfect except there are a lot of pollutants around.  The newspaper said high in weed pollen.  I have trouble breathing sometimes.  I felt so bad this morning that I checked out the medicine cupboard for something to take and found Hemp Oil so decided to give it a try.  I was very surprised that in a little while I could breathe again.  Later in the afternoon I got congested again, took more hemp oil and it cleared up.

Steak for dinner from HyVee grocery.  They have grilled steak, corn-on-the-cob and baked potato every Thursday evening.  Don wanted to watch the animated Spider Man on Netflix.  I mostly read and watched it some.

Mystic

We went to Mystic Lake Casino (Little Six) for breakfast.  We used to often eat there when we camped at Dakotah Meadows.  They have the best French toast.  Then we went to the bank where our safe deposit box is located just to see what was in the box, it had been four years.  There was some dated forms and certificates which we brought home to shred.  Otherwise we left things as they were.

In the evening Sheila came over with our weekly vegetables.  We got bok choy, cuckember, beets, corn, etc.  She also brought a new South Dakota magazine which is my favorite read.

Sunset over Bushnell Florida during the hurricane.

Tuesday, September 3, 2019

Day after holiday weekend.

Back to normal:  garbage pickup, lawn mowing.  Another nice day but my allergies seem to be on full.  I have trouble breathing well.

We fixed waffles for dinner and then watched some documentary on TV about how Facebook was the underlying cause Hillary didn't win the election with the help of Cambridge International and the Russians.  Hope that is in the past.

Labor Day

This is a national holiday, last day of the state fair and last day of freedom before the kids have to go back to school.

The weather was nice and so we sat outside for a while enjoying the happenings in the neighborhood.  Not that our neighborhood has much happening.  We both worked on our Sodakas a bit.

We grilled some hot dogs for dinner and watched Ant Man on Netflix in the evening.  There were storm warnings during the 10 PM news, we could hear some thunder.  We thought we might be up for a bit watching the weather but it seemed to go to our north.

Hurricane Dorian seems to be staying to the east of Florida which means for us is that our place in Florida should be fine.

Sunday, September 1, 2019

First day of September

The newspaper has the pollen count as high.  I can't seem to get a good breath, must be allergies.

We went to Bakers Square for breakfast, too much food - couldn't eat it all.  Brenda came over in the morning, she was nearby.

Hurricane Dorian is still east of Florida so our place may have a chance of surviving.

We had too much food for dinner, couldn't eat all our smoked pork chops.  We had a salad with cucumber and green pepper. Corn-on-the-cob, Tuscan kale which I roasted in the oven and half a leftover baked potato.  As well as cucumber and green pepper cut up in sour cream.   Will have the rest of the pork chops in a sandwich for lunch tomorrow.

Later we watched some TV and Don spent time on the computer.
