Lord thank you!

After a series of problems it would be nice to get GOOD NEWS for a change.

Friends

Friends Marge and Gordon stopped by the park today.  They had a lot here and then moved south.  We had a little get-together so all could visit with them.  Good to see them again!

It has been much cooler, finally the clouds and rain have passed.

A clever way to attach electric wires in Florida near Disney World.

Dinner and Survivor

We went to Texas Road House for dinner, steak and shrimp.  That was a treat as we don't often have a real dinner out.

Don has been waxing the motorhome.  When he's done we will finally get the windows washed inside and out!  We have had some cloudy days - without rain - so that is the perfect time to wax.  Rain is forecast for the next two days.

Tonight is Survivor night, my favorite show:

Freezer update

It took 3 days for the freezer to cool down to normal.  At least it did cool down, would help if it were cooler outside.

Has been a slow weekend but that is OK, had enough excitement last week.  Everyone keeps asking when we are heading north, that would be around April 6.  I am ready and anxious to be back in MN.

RV repair

We took the motorhome in to Alliance in Wildwood for a new transfer switch to be installed.  Was suppose to be a 2 hour job so we went for brunch and then to Walmart and were back in 2 hours, we waited 3 more hours.  We were not surprised, it always takes more time than they say.  They have a nice waiting area with popcorn and beverages.

We like the fact that the person that has worked on your MH comes to you and explains what they did and how they did the job.  MH seems to work fine, will know for sure down the road.

The appointment was for 8:30 with a hour trip first so we had to get up early.  It has been a hot day so we were hot and tired when we got home and got it parked.  We did manage to get things fairly well set up.

Frost

Frost in the freezer not outside.  Our refrigerator is "frost free" but frost does collect around the ice maker.  I can't remember the last time I had defrosted the area but now it built up so much the ice cube maker stopped working.  So of all days I picked to today to unload the freezer and turn off the whole refrigerator to get the job done.  This was a bad day because:  1.  It is hot and humid outside  2. I just got groceries some of which are room temperature  3. We are going in for repairs tomorrow.

Finally 4 hours later we got the last chunk of ice out and reloaded the freezer.  It is not cooling down fast---  Looks like we will have ice cream soup.

Tampa trip

We went to Tampa today.  Did just the usual stuff - lunch at Sweet Tomatoes and then Camping World and Parksdale Farms.  Stopped to look at motorhomes as we plan to get a smaller one in the future.  The salesman insisted on giving us a trade-in price.  He wanted way more money for the new MH than it's list and wanted to give us way less than list for our MH.  He was certainty full-of-it.

We loaded up with fruit and vegetables at Parksdale Farms, got a big box of fresh picked strawberries
 for $1.99.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK DAY

Weekend

The weather has been nice, hot and humid but no rain.  We just did the usual things, nothing exciting.  We rented the movie "Kill the Messenger", it wasn't an action show like we thought but an enactment of a real event.  It centered around the Contra in South America in the 90's and how it was sponsored by the CIA unknown to the world.  Now days it would have been a big issue if the media got wind of it but then the CIA denied everything and swept it under the table and the media choose to the CIA rather than the facts.

Sunday it was out for breakfast and the Ice Cream Social in the afternoon.  More people are heading north all the time so saying "see ya next fall" to them.

Car in for a turn

Off to Brooksville today in the rain.  Sure it's raining as Don washed our car yesterday.  We took the car in for wheel balancing.  Shopped Sam's Club and CVS and had lunch at Paneras.  It didn't take long for the sun to come out so now we have a hot and humid day.  Thankfully our tricky AC is still working.

Would be fun to make this trip!

Round two

Knowing that the yesterday mentioned Black Tank was still somewhat plugged we decided to try again to clear it completely.  Long story, short - we plugged it again.  We tried last nights trick but didn't work so we just left it open hoping it would drain on it's own.  (Connected to sewer hose.)  It finally did drain later in the evening.  We know it still isn't fixed.  We have a couple other ideas but they require a trip to Camping World.

Don't read with a weak stomach----

What every RV-er dreads - a plugged black (toilet) tank.  Ours wasn't draining fully and getting worse every time.  Finally it hardly drained at all.

SO we decided to try to get it cleared.  Don bought a new back flush gadget, installed it and we went to work last evening.  At first all seemed to be going well but then it really plugged.  Don had me take the hose with nozzle inside and spray down the toilet full force.  It just plugged up more and now we had the tank full with nothing draining.  Don tried a "plumber's helper", didn't work.  He tried putting a rod into the toilet and moving it around, didn't work.

At this point I could see myself making my middle-of-the-night potty break over at the club house.

I check the internet for answers and did find a possibility but first Don decided to fill the gray (sink, shower tank) and see if by letting that water out all at once it would knock the black loose.  It didn't sound like a solution to me but we tried it and it WORKED.

Now we are going to try clean the tank out even better, might be a bad idea.

Weather report

One weather service says it is going to rain every day and be in the 90's.  Another one predicts 80's and one day of rain.  I checked a third on my smart phone and it has us in the 80's and rain every day.  Please, with all the resources the weather people have, get it together.  It makes it so hard to plan anything.

We finally got a date for our MH to install the transfer switch, March 19.  Sounds like they are extremely busy getting everyone ready to head north.

Lower right is Astronaut Scott Kelly, friend of my daughter!

End of another week

RV repair place called yesterday that the transfer switch finally arrived.  Now we are trying to set a date to go in for the fix.  They were suppose to call back with a time, no call.  Here I thought this place might be different than the other repair places that seem to not know how to the phone.

So we again do not know how our next week will play out.  It's nice to be able to make some plans.

I did get a date for my back surgery in MN - May 27.  Could have had the end of April but have other appointments before surgery so would have been too soon.

Monday again

It was a busy weekend, Don helped with the campground breakfast as usual, went out to eat on Saturday.  Breakfast out on Sunday and the Ice Cream Social Sunday afternoon as well as our usual two Sunday papers to read.

No call about MH park so Don called, it is not in yet.  Glad we didn't wait around like they suggested.
