Walmart after 2 months

We went to Walmart today.  That was a big deal for me as I haven't been in a Walmart for over 2 months.  I needed a lot of stuff as well as household products so the bill was high!  I still don't have my endurance back (from my foot operation) so I was exhausted when we were done.  It was a long, slow walk to the car.

For dinner we got salads from Panera's.  We hadn't done Panera for a long time.  The salads were good and I didn't have to fix dinner!

Drive up Notary

This is the year we need to renew our lease on our lot in our Florida Park.  Every 5 years, this is our third renewal which means wow we have been there 15 years!  There are plenty of people waiting with bated breath for our lot should we not get the lease renewed, so have to take it seriously.

Our signatures needed to be notarized but the lobby of our bank where we usually go to get things notarized is closed.  So we decided to join the long line in the drive-thru to see it there was a alternate place.  A man was handing out deposit slips so we asked him, he said to park by the front door and he would come out and notarize our papers.  Which he did.  What service!

Cleaning

This was a good day to get stuff done inside!  Not that we ever accomplish much.  I got a bathroom cupboard cleaned out and also the vanity.  Not only is it organized and clean but I know that we have, some surprises!

We had stir-fry stuff from a bag for dinner, it was fairly good.

KFC

Cleaned the house and did some wash.  Another nice day, highs in the 70's.  When I was a kid my Mom let me wear shorts and go bare foot when it got above 70!

I have been wanting KFC chicken for awhile so today I insisted on some.  It was good, greasy but good!  We have started watching Netflix and Prime Video again, have run out of saved things on TiVo.

Nice Sunday

Usual Sunday reading the newspaper and watching Meet the Press on TV.  Sheila came over in the afternoon for awhile, always good to see the kids.

We grilled some very good steak we had purchased at HyVee and also had roasted sweet potatoes.  Beautiful weather day!

Neighbor watching

We just did stuff around the house.  Got Shrimp for dinner from Perkins, which was good!

We watched people come and go to look at the house next door which is for sale.  It is a two bedroom townhouse, one couple came with four kids ages about 2 to 6 and she was pregnant.  If that is all they can afford perhaps they should have invested in birth control.

Shopping I go!

For the first time in nearly two months I actually went into a store!  Don has been doing all the grocery shopping as I was suppose to keep off my foot as much as possible.  I gave him a list and he did a good job of searching  stuff down.  Now that my foot is better I need to start getting my endurance back so I decided to go to HyVee grocery store.  It actually seemed a little strange to be in a store, but I bought a lot!

The news media keeps telling us there might be a shortage of meat, but that was sure not the case at HyVee.  They were well stocked.

We had "Crack a Egg" for dinner, something I bought at the store today.

Walmart,etc.

Don went for a few things in Walmart, I went along in the car.  It isn't such a major event now that I don't have to wear the boot on my foot.  We got lunch at McDonald's to eat at home.

For dinner we had waffles and bacon and then watched some TV.

Stitches out!

Back to the podiatrist today.  I finally got the stitches out where my toe was amputated.  Now I don't have to have my foot wrapped, just a band-aid over the area.  Feels good.  My foot looks awful, like I had a major sun burn and it is peeling.  My foot was very swollen and now it has gone back to normal size, so extra skin.

It was a nice day and good to get out.  We picked up Arby's sandwiches for dinner and later watched the Prince tribute show that we had recorded.  We got gas in our car for $1.19 a gallon!

R.I.P. Pat

Sad news, we found out our neighbor, Pat passed away in March.  We knew she was sick with lung cancer, hadn't seen her but thought she was perhaps sheltering in place with one of her daughters.  The daughters have been at her house for several days, Don saw one when he was getting the mail and asked about her.  Pat had told us if she took chemo she should live 2 years but it has only been 1 1/2 years.  We will miss Pat, she was a friendly and good neighbor.

The daughters are getting the house ready to sale, going on the market this Friday.  We are always anxious when near by houses (townhouses) are sold so are hoping for good neighbors.  Because the townhouse are one level they are very popular with older folks, so we are hoping for a nice old couple.

It was a sunny but cool day.  Looking forward to warmer days when we can be on the deck.  We got tacos for dinner.

Monday, I think

The Home Nurse came again today, she is nice and doing her job but I am getting tired of answering the same questions the same way.  Best thing is she re-wraps my foot.  It feels so good to get the wrapping off if only for a few minutes.  It was coming off, Don had tried to fix it but I think a person needs a class on how to put on an elastic bandage.

I got some house cleaning done.  It is so frustrating that I don't have the energy that I did have, I hope my endurance come back soon.

We had leftover roast beef dinner (from last night).  As good as the first time!

Zooooom

Zoom - I did my first zoom chat with our daughters.  It went well but not sure I could do it again without some help.  It was fun to see their lovely faces!

Otherwise it was a normal Sunday, Sunday TV morning shows, read the newspaper.  Once again we got breakfast from Denny's.

Visitors

Brenda, Scott and dog Java came for a visit this afternoon.  They brought some good bakery items!  It was really good to see them.

It was nearly 70 degrees today!  We went to the Culvers drive-though and picked up dinner.

Friday

It is finally starting to warm up.  I sure hope spring is on the way!

It was just another day at home, doing the usual.  We both did some jobs around the house in the morning.

Don brought in some Chinese food for dinner.

Another day

The home health nurse came again today, they are nice but I will be glad when I no longer need them to come.

Don went to Walmart and a couple other places and I rode along just to get some fresh air and different views.  We had Chicken Pot Pies for dinner.

Need warm weather!

Don went to HyVee grocery store, I gave him a good list and he got everything.  He said it wasn't too crowded.  It's still cold out and trying to snow from time to time - enough.

We had pork chops cooked in the crock pot.  They were good but too much food for me.

Shrimp

Finished cleaning the house.

We decided to try picking dinner up at Perkins.  We got shrimp, vegetable and potato.  It was good, very good shrimp.

Monday, April 13, 2020

Monday again

Got the house dusted, I used to be able to dust, clean the kitchen and bathrooms in one morning but now don't have the energy.

In the afternoon the Home Nurse came and re-wrapped my foot.  It needed a re-wrap badly.  We both stayed home all day, another boring day.

Easter 2020, like no other

Easter Sunday and we have snow.  We got about 6 inches, for awhile it didn't stick to the streets and sidewalks but as the day went on it started to get slushy and slick.   There were many reported accidents around the area.

Like usual we read the Sunday newspaper and watched some news shows on TV.

We had the ham, the potatoes our son-in-law made and fresh pineapple for Easter dinner, enough for another meal.

A visitor at last!

Daughter Sheila came over today, we have all been quarantined for two weeks so hopefully not sharing any germs.  Her husband made his famous potato casserole for people so she brought us a pan of it for our Easter dinner.

It was very good to see her and visit in person!

We brought home taco salads for dinner.

Podiatrist visit

Today was my two week doctor appointment with my podiatrist.  She said the stitches were not ready to come out where I had the toe amputated.  I needed another 10 days.  So I am still wearing the bandaging.

I realized how out of shape I am when I walked the somewhat distance to the podiatrist office and was totally out of breath.   What I need to do is go to Target or some store with carts and do some walking but that is out of the question due to the virus and that I am suppose to stay off my foot as much as possible.  Some day?

This is where Google said I traveled in March, couldn't be more wrong!

Arby's not Culvers

When Don got up this morning he got dressed and immediately went to Walmart.  He was able to get everything on the list including my Tylenol.

In the morning I called a friend in Florida, one of the first people I met when we got to Sumter Oaks.  They have moved to a trailer park.  We had a long visit, they are doing well (she said about to kill each other).

In the afternoon the Home Nurse came to re-bandage my foot and then I started to do some Sudoku's and went to sleep.  I am still sleeping too much.  We decided to go to Culvers drive-thru to pick up a sandwich for dinner but the line was very long so went to Arby's.

Excitement, sorta

I finally got the house dusted, it had been a long time.  Also some stuff put away.  All this "excitement" made me feel weak.  I have got to get my strength back soon.

I put new elastic in some jeans that kept slipping down and too good to toss.

We had leftover Chinese food for dinner.

Today is our Grandson, Zach's 21st birthday.  He got to celebrate at home with his parents!

No germs in my house!

Granddaughter is feeling better today, hope that continues.

I got up off my tutu and cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms (Don did the toilets).  No germs will live in our house!  Don then vacuumed and mopped.

We had French toast for dinner.

Hospital spinach salad, good after I removed most of the onions!

Monday, Monday

Our granddaughter's covid 19 test came back positive.  She seems to be feeling some better.  Hope that continues.

My back was hurting bad but a Aspen-cream patch helped a lot.  This was a limp lettuce day for me so all I got done was sleep.  The home nurse came and re-bandaged my foot, she used a new elastic bandage that wasn't so big so I can get my foot into my slippers now.  She said my toe nub is looking good.

The highlight of our day was Don brought in Chinese food for dinner!

More vintage McDonald's mugs:

Sunday, April 5, 2020

If it is Sunday it must be TV, newspapers, etc.

Don went out to "fetch" us some breakfast,  Denny's was short staffed, Perkins busy so he went to McDonald's.  We watched the Sunday Morning TV shows and then read the Sunday newspaper.  Watched more TV in the evening.  My back started hurting big time, I think from the way I have been sitting, so need to make a change.

We grilled some salmon in the evening.  Was good!

Vintage McDonald's mug, worth a few bucks on eBay!

Saturday April 4

My granddaughter probably has covid 19, sure hope it is a mild case.  Even harder when it hits  home.  We did the usual nothing today, some days I feel fairly good and then some I feel like limp lettuce.  This was a limp lettuce day.  I think it is from the antibiotics I am taking for my toe removal of last week.  No appetite either, but that isn't all bad!

This is the fruit salad I had in the hospital, enough for several people!

Friday, I think

Don had several places he needed to go so I decided to go along for the ride and to get out of the house.  It's a cold day, we were in some sleet.  It was good to see something other than the house even though it is such an effort to get ready to leave.

Will that little outing tuckered me out so a good nap in the afternoon.  More TV in the evening.

Home nurse day

The Home Nurse came again today, about all she did was change the dressing on my foot.  It looks about the same but the swelling is gone and the redness is gone, both good signs.  My day is otherwise dull and boring!

Doctor

Today I went to the clinic for a doctor appointment.  She thought my toe (or lack of toe) was doing fine.  My kidney function was somewhat better.  I feel fairly good, just get tired easily.  We've been having some nice weather but I'm stuck inside.
