Fall chill

I cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms today.  Cleaned our shower, was getting plenty of soap scum.  Then used spray bleach to whiten things up.  Also cleaned the tub which we do not use but still gets dusty.  I feel like I have had plenty of exercise!

It got down to 37 degrees last night, coldest since last spring.  Was cool in the house this morning.  We got Chinese Food from HyVee for dinner and watched TV for evening entertainment.

Pancakes and Elderberry

Panera again for breakfast.  Then we went to Menards, they are having a fabulous sale!!!  Got a lot of things, some things for the motorhome.

We had pancakes with the mix Sheila gave us from the Black Hills.  Just needed to add beer!  They were good, thick.  Saved a couple for breakfast tomorrow.  Also had the Elderberry syrup she brought us.  It is very good, had it earlier on ice cream!

Signs!

We went to HyVee this morning for a few groceries.  Today we find there have been "DETOUR" signs put out so maybe that will help people get around and make traffic move better.

Stayed home the rest of the day, enjoying the nice, cool weather!

Detour

We went to Panera for breakfast again.  Then to Walmart and Cubs.  Finally to Verizon to get a new jet pack in anticipation of our trip.  All went well until I applied for the rebate of $50, took me an hour.  They had to have scans, etc.

We got pizza for dinner.  Because of the intersection being closed to get onto the main road, we went the back way.  The main road also is narrowed down to one lane in each direction, causing a major back-up.  So people that normally go that way were taking our back way.  So we went north and around the whole mess and came home that way taking more time.

BLT

We got hair cuts this morning in preparation for our trip to Florida.  It is difficult to find a place to get hair cuts on the trip and we don't want to waste the time.  Another wet day, but having the windows open feels good.

Had Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato sandwiches for dinner again.  Available limited time!

National Lobster Day!

It rained during the night.  Cooler weather is forecast which will be a relief after the 90's.  We cleaned house, I am starting to get things ready to move into the motorhome next week.

Where can I get some???

Sunday

Breakfast at Bakers Square today.  Then a quick trip to Fresh Thyme for some vegetables and then to Menards, we needed nothing but we spent over $30.

Came home and read the Sunday newspapers.  We grilled kabobs for dinner, for some reason we both were tired.  Maybe because we had done too little today!

Saturday

We got our security camera and got it all set up.  It seems to work well, it records pictures and video and notify me.  It was no small feat to set up.

Sheila and Brenda came for a visit in the evening.  Always great to see them.  Brenda went to the Renaissance Festival today and got the charming head piece.

Another hot and humid day!

First day of Fall

Breakfast at Panera again this week and then we came home and read the newspapers on the deck.  No noise today!  It was getting hot and humid.  We decided to go to Menards to look at electric fire places again.  The ones we liked wouldn't fit into our wood burning fireplace and the ones that would fit we didn't like.  May look some more.

Stopped at McDonalds for hamburgers to bring home for lunch.  Too hot to sit on the deck this afternoon, got up to 93 vert humid degrees.

More noise

We went to HyVee for our weekly shopping today.  Store was as empty as I have seen, good for us.  When we came home we sat out on the deck to read the papers, after all the noise yesterday we expected it to be quiet.  NO still more trees to trim.

Brenda came for dinner, I made roast beef.

Noise

Don had a doctor appointment this morning, I rode along.  We stopped at Tim Hortons for Timbits (donut holes).  It was so nice out when we got home we decided to read the newspapers out on the deck.  We no more than got the chairs out, coffee and papers in hand when the lawn mowers came.  They have 3 big riding mowers and gas powered trimmers and blowers so they make a lot of noise.  We stayed outside anyway.

Again in the afternoon we decided to go out and read on the deck.  No more than got out and the tree trimmers arrived.  They had several chain saws and a chipper (turns branches into chips).  Lots of noise, but we stuck it out!

Busy Day

We went to Panera for breakfast, they recognise us by our travel mugs!  We have a bright blue mug and a bright red mug,

Then to Walmart for groceries and some other stuff - detergent, band aids, etc.  Finally to HyVee as they have some good Monday specials and they are basicly on the way home.  We have a bright sunny day going so good to be out and about.

A repair man for the homeowners association came to fix the cement blocks in our garage foundation where the cement between them  has disappeared.  He pointed out that someone had ran into a tree at the end of the street during the night uprooting the tree.

Slow, rainy Monday

Cleaned house as usual.  More needed a good vacuum than anything.  We have a rainy day going.

In the afternoon I went to the pedridist to get the callus removed from my big toe - again.  Then a quick stop by Menards and home.

OPH

We went out for breakfast with Brenda at the new "Original Pancake House" in Burnsville.  Food was good.  Brenda and I had Swedish pancakes, we got a side of hash browns and a side of bacon.  Don had pecan pancakes.

Came home and read the Sunday papers.  Had to have a couple things a Menards so went in the afternoon.  What a nice day, cooler and low humidity.  We grilled steak for dinner.

Prime Rib

Did our usual Saturday stuff, read the newspapers, etc.

In the evening we went to Caspers where there is a Saturday prime rib special.  It had been a long time since we had had prime rib.  It was good!!!  We drove around the nearby campground, it was surprisingly busy.  Probably because of the nice weather.

More heat, more humidity again

Still hot and humid, but we sat outside on the deck for awhile anyway.   Don wanted something at the motorhome, good to check it anyway.  Then we went to Culvers for lunch.

We got Chinese food from HyVee for dinner.

Power

We went to HyVee for groceries this morning, spent a bit too much time in the bakery.  They have such good stuff. Seems everyone got the the check-outs at once.  They quickly opened a couple more but still a line.

The good news is that the power is back on at our camp ground in Florida.  Our friends staying ther are very happy!

Brenda came over for dinner, always good to see her.

87 degrees, average 73

We went to Menards and picked up a couple things but sure enough the one thing that was on sale that I wanted wasn't carried by this store.  We decided to try another Menards and the had a few.  Went to McDonalds and had their speciality hamburgers for lunch.  We had Pico and Guac which was very good.

We grilled brats for dinner.  It was a warm day, 87 degrees and humid.

Panera and Walmart

Breakfast at Panera again.  Then we went to Walmart.  It had been awhile so we had a lot of stuff to buy - not just food but other stuff.

We came home and read the newspaper out on the deck.  A nice morning, a bit humid but OK.

Had bacon, lettuce, tomato sandwiches for dinner.

Disasters

Today is the 16th anniversary of 9/11 when the twin towers were hit.  We need to always remember this day, like 12/7, Pearl Harbor Day. to remind us that we need to always be vigilant.

Sounds like all friends are OK after hurricane Irma.  Our RV park has a lot of trees and branches down and is water laden but OK.  The RV's left there are OK - at least upright!

Irma closes in

We went to Perkins for breakfast, we like their potato pancakes.  Came home and read the newspapers and watched hurricane Irma news on tv.  It is starting to invade Florida today.

Sheila and Brenda came over in the afternoon.

We grilled some pork chops for dinner, had watermelon later.  Got a good one this time.

Looks like wind speeds will be about 100 miles per hour where our RV park is at.  It will hit during the night just to make matters worse.  Just pray friends who are there will be safe and sound.  Will be anxious to find out tomorrow.

Saturday

Still following hurricane Irma.  We are so concerned for our friends in Florida, sounds like some have headed north and some are hunkering down were they are in Florida.  Now the path of the storm is more west, but doesn't make much difference in the velocity.

We went to TGI Fridays for dinner, they have good ribs.  And good Long Island Tea!

Olive

The bad news this morning was hurricane Irma is now expected to hear right through the middle of Florida.  That is where most of our friends are that are hunkering down and staying put.  We fear for their safety.

Our weather is perfect.

We went to Olive Garden for lunch today.  They have a salad and soup and breadsticks special.  Very good and all you can eat.  So were weren't hungry for dinner, just had leftovers.

Beautiful day in MN

Breakfast at Panera again today, it gets to be a busy place in the mornings!  Then we went to HyVee for groceries.  It was not busy, perhaps we should continue to go on Thursdays instead of Friday's.

We are trying to keep in touch with our friends in Florida.  Today it appears that Hurricane Irma will be skirting along the eastern edge of Florida, still all of the state will be effected.

Brenda came over for dinner.  I tried another new recipe.  Always good to see Brenda and catch up on what she is doing!

Irma

Don dropped me off at Kohl's and then went to Menards.  Nice that they are close by each other!  I had $15 of Kohl's cash to spend today being the day it expired.  I got a shirt for me and one for Don, ended up pay int $5 for both!  Surprisingly Don didn't get anything from Menards.

We then went to Fresh Thyme to buy some fruit and also got a watermelon and a peach pie.

Hurricane Irma is taking a track which does not look good for Florida.  We have friends there and are worried.  Some have headed north, some thinking about it and some staying.  Staying in a motorhome would not be what I would want to be doing.

First day of school in MN

Back to school for most Minnesota students.  I'm glad I'm no longer working in a school, I would try to hide out in my office but teachers could always fine me to tell me what they needed ASAP, ASAP.  In the morning for the first day I helped freshmen find where they should be, mostly boys (some crying).  The girls had come in earlier and walked their schedule.

We went for breakfast at Tim Hortons and then to three home improvement stores looking for security cameras.  Bought none but got some good information.

Labor Day

Labor Day, the day we celebrate all the hard working people that made the U.S. what it is today.

Just a usual Monday for us!

Sheila and Brenda came over for a visit in the afternoon.  We brought in chicken for dinner.

There are so many fires out west.  We have smoke haze in the sky in Minnesota.  Texas gets all the press with their hurricane caused problems but we need to also focus on these fires and the devastation they are causing.

Sunday, food and newspaper

Breakfast at Denny's.  We almost always end up sitting at the same booth.  I thought we should sign the table but didn't meet Don's approval.  Then we order the same thing most times.

We then went to Walmart for lettuce and ended up with $25 worth of stuff.  Came home and read the Sunday papers.

I fixed and Don grilled kabobs, also had corn-on-the-cob and a salad.  We were really full.  Watched some TV, been watching "Ozark" a Netflix show.  Kind of weird.

Quiet Saturday

We went to Menards today.  The shampoo caddy in the shower was getting all rusty so we found a new one that is not suppose to rust.  Picked up lunch at McDonalds on the way home.  We got dinner from HyVee, they have good Chinese food.  The weather has been nice, good to have the windows open!
