50 years ago today I was a senior at Belle Fourche High School. Lunch time and I went out to my car to drive home, turned on the radio. Usually there was music at this time but someone was talking, it wasn't until I got out of the parking lot that I realized what they were saying was that President Kennedy had been shot. There weren't saying he was dead, just that he had been shot. We turned on TV at home when it was announced that he was dead. I took my "transistor" radio to school, we listened to the news all afternoon.
Kennedy was the first president that had caught my interest, he was young and almost like a Hollywood star. I felt the tragedy as if it was a personal friend that had died.
