MN State Fair

Today we went to the State Fair (for the first time in about 20 years).  I rented a electric scooter and it was there waiting for me.  Worked well, I could have never walked the territory we covered!  We had to go to a specific entrance to pick up the scooter and that was the problem.  One person told us we had to go to another gate to get the parking pass, we went to that gate and they told us to go to the nearby ticket booth.  Well they didn't sell parking passes but told us to get behind a line of cars.  We finally got the pass and went back to the lot where we needed to park.  Needless to say, we weren't the only ones that were having that problem.  Something the Fair Administrators need to fix.

Anyway we had a good day at the fair.  First we went to a church sponsored eating place for breakfast.  Even with the parking problem we were still too early for most places.  We had breakfast and several cups of coffee.  Then we went to the mini-donut concession so we would be sure to get Don his donuts.  By that time the Varied Industries opened and we spent a lot of time seeing what people had for sale - bought nothing.  We visited the area where clothing, painting and crafts are judged.  I sure would not want the job of judging as they all looked perfect to me.  I wanted to see the floral displays at the Agriculture building.  They were beautiful.  We got frozen apple cider there.  Then to the International Marketplace.  Again didn't buy anything.  But in the foods building we got cheese curds, they were good - can't remember them being so good.  We people watched for awhile, you can see anything!  Then got some olives stuffed with cream cheese on a stick, breaded and deep fried.  By far my favorite food.  We picked up some Sweet Martha's cookies and relaxed awhile.  Finally to the midway to see the bench which was donated in memory of our son-in-law.  Turned in the scooter and found our car and went home very tired.
