We continued our clean-out by cleaning the top shelf of the office closet and rearranging the two shelves so what we often use is reachable without a step stool. Also cleaned the corner shelves. Didn't go through the many cords we have - yet.
Being Taco Tuesday we had Taco's for dinner.
My most dreaded day of the week - clean the house day. At least there is payoff, it looks good afterward.
A good nap in the afternoon and then Bacon/Lettice/Tomato sandwiches for dinner.
We went for breakfast at Hy-Vee's restaurant. They have very good food and you can get just what you want. More and more people are discovering the place. Don bought me on of their purple mums.
Later in the morning Sheila came for a visit. We read the rest of the Sunday newspaper in the afternoon and watched the news shows in the evening.
Don grilled smoked pork chops for dinner and we had corn-on-the-cob and salad.
We watched the morning show and then went to Menards, I went along - not something I usually do! I just cruised the store and bought nothing, Don bought some items.
It is another hot and humid day. When stepping out of AC the humidity about knocks you over.
Don picked up dinner from Panera, salads and sandwiches.
Today we got up our courage and went to the Apple Valley Panera where just a week ago we witnessed a car coming through the entrance way and to a stop fully inside the restaurant. We sat on the opposite side and it turns out sat by five of the women who were affected by the accident. They told us one of their friends suffered two broken legs, another's foot was ran over by the car and she had a dislocated hip, one had glass in her eye and another had multiple chunks of glass in her back. They all had bruises from flying furniture, etc. One woman said her purse, which was hanging on the back of her chair somehow had the strap get twisted in the metal from the window frame. They said the man we saw outside by the door saw the car coming and stepped back but the car brushed him and knocked him down. A miracle that no one was killed. The ladies said they went to a prayer gathering after the accident.
It was thankful today was uneventful.
We had some thunder about 5 AM and some rain. It was cloudy and humid all day but not too hot. Needed to run the AC to keep the humidity down.
For dinner we got sandwiches from Arby's.
A stay at home day. I cleaned ONE shelf of the office closet and it took me two hours. Lots of stuff that has been stored there for years and needed to be weeded out. Still have another shelf and shelving in the corner of the floor. AND the desk.
A rain storm came through about 2:30. It rained hard for short period of time and cleared out. It rained hard during the afternoon but cleared out fast.
We went to HyVee to get their Thursday steak dinners to bring home to eat.
We went for our Panera bagel, but today we went to the Shakopee Panera. Then we shopped at the Shakopee Walmart. It is bigger than the Walmart close to us, nice wide aisles and well stocked. There were not people stocking the shelves and standing right in front of what I wanted. How can two stores be so different?!?
It was good to see some different country as we tend to stay so close to our house. A Texas Road House is being built in the Shakopee area!
Dinner was chicken Kiev and corn-on-the-cob with a salad.
We woke up about 4 AM to thunder and it kept up until about 11 AM. We got about 1 1/2 inches of welcome rain. We waited until 11 AM to go out to run some errands like post office, get more kitchen paint to repaint scuffs. Then we stopped by Panera to get a flat bread pizza for lunch. We had never tried them, it was good!
Panera's front door is boarded up (due to last Friday's events) and so costumers have to use the north door. The dinning place that was damaged is cordoned off still.
For dinner we grilled steak and had squash along with a salad.
Good old house cleaning day. Done for another week.
I spent time in the afternoon looking at the pictures Sheila had scanned. Lots of memories!
We had left-overs for dinner.
Breakfast at Denny's the morning. Another free birthday breakfast for me! Again sat far from windows and again no excitement. That is good.
We read the Sunday newspapers. Took a good nap as I didn't sleep much last night.
In the evening we met family at Osaka's Hibachi for a very good dinner and then we went to daughter Sheila's home for gifts, cake and ice cream.
I got many fine gifts: t-shirt, flamingo towels, amazon gift card, magnet, cookies and a photo frame. Sheila scanned all 1500 of our old family pictures onto a thumb drive so I can view the pictures in the frame. (Must have taken her forever.) I am looking forward to begin to view the pictures and to use the other gifrs.
Breakfast today was at Perkins as I had a free birthday breakfast. We sat far from any windows, no excitement like yesterday anyway. Came home and watched some Saturday shows I record - Lucky Dog and Innovations.
We picked up prime rib dinners to eat at home. Very good as always.
We went to Panera for breakfast this morning. We had eaten our bagels then I looked up and saw part of the glass entrance-way fly off the wall. I thought the building was coming apart, but suddenly realized a car had jumped the curb and ended up totally in the restaurant. (Don thought it was an explosion as it did make a loud bang.) We were sitting about 4 feet from the front of the car, it pushed our booth in some, but we were not hurt. We had some glass on our table and in our coffee. The car and glass did hit a large table of women. One complained of glass in her eye and another said her head had been hit. News reports said 6 people were injured. The driver of the car was a young woman, she didn't get out of the car but don't think she was hurt.
I was really shook thinking of what might have been. We were about to leave and would have gone out the way the car came. If the car had been going much faster we would have been in the way. We feel very fortunate we were not hurt and hope the injured people will soon heal. I won't be sitting by windows any time soon.
The rest of the day was not so dramatic thankfully. We were going to eat dinner at the Apple Valley Cafe but it was closed due to the family being on vacation! So we went across the road to Culvers.
We went to IKEA today to begin my 4 day birthday celebration. Didn't buy much but did have lunch there. We both had a "salad plate". It has some greens, cold salmon and potato salad. It was very good and refreshing on a hot and humid day. We had a coupon for a free ice cream cone so had that before we left.
Many areas of IKEA seemed to be under stocked. Wonder if they are having problems getting their inventory from Sweden. Hope they get it soon as Christmas shopping will be upon us.
Before going to IKEA we took good some of the stuff I had cleaned out to charity.
In the evening we brought home steak dinners from HyVee.
We went to Panera for bagels this morning and then to Walmart. We didn't need much at Walmart and didn't spend much for a change.
Our area's new mailboxes have been put up and the mail person started using them today. A good wind would have taken our old boxes down. The new ones are across the street.
In the afternoon I finished cleaning the laundry room cupboards, more junk to the garbage!
For dinner we had waffles, it had been awhile.
Today was the day to clean the hall closet. I got rid of a bunch of stuff and more importantly found some things. I organized stuff as like items were on separate shelves. More time on the computer in the afternoon.
For dinner we had Camper Eggs and Cinnamon Rolls. We have a lot of trouble agreeing on what movie to watch on TV so didn't watch any.
The Monday usual - clean the house, wash towels, polish furniture, etc. Don vacuums. We had the windows open for awhile, the air was fresh this morning, not humid or forest fire smoke.
I was on the computer a good part of the afternoon. Don was waiting to get his chance with bated breath!
For dinner we had some purchased barbequed pork on buns and some purchased potato salad.
We got up a little early to get to Cracker Barrel while there were still tables available. Turned out they were not busy this morning so no problem. After breakfast we went across the Interstate to Fleet Farm. They don't have electric riding carts, if they did I would have seen more of the store and probably bought more. I did get some nuts and trail mix.
Sheila and Brenda came for a visit later in the morning. We read the Sunday newspapers in the afternoon and watched the Sunday news shows in the evening. So we are up to date!!!

After drinking coffee and watching an excessive amount of morning TV we finally got some things done. Don helped me clean the top shelves of the cupboards over the washer and dryer. I cleaned the drawers in the bathroom and cupboard under the sink.
We had salads and sandwiches at Panera for dinner and then watched a movie "Old Goats" it was Ok, funny and true.
Back to Panera for bagels this morning. One would think a place that specializes in coffee and has a Coffee Club (to which we belong) would have Job #1 keeping their self service coffee urns filled. Seems there is always one empty but today there were two empty and the third almost empty. They only have one coffee maker, should have at least two. They also need someone in charge of coffee, at least in the morning.
After Panera we got groceries at HyVee.
Back to HyVee in the evening for Chinese Dinners to bring home.
Today I continued my closet/cupboard cleaning by cleaning the floor to ceiling, 3 feet deep bathroom cupboard. Another bag of junk went to the garbage can! I reorganized it so probably will not be able to find anything. It was a big job and my arms hurt.
It was a beautiful day outside, not too hot and not humid and no forest fire smoke.

We went to Panera for Bagels this morning, it was almost empty when we arrived but almost full when we left! Then we went to Walmart for a few things. This week they took my $8 coupon (which they refused last week) without any problem. Then a stop at CVS Pharmacy to get two prescriptions that they had been pestering me to pick up. Then home to drink our second (or is it third) cups of coffee.
We had the leftover spaghetti salad for dinner, still good as ever!
This morning I made spaghetti salad. I love this salad, has artichoke hearts (among other goodies). I have to have it at least once during the summer. Then I started to work on my jewelry. My earrings needed a good annual going through to get them paired and get rid of the singles and ones I don't want. In the afternoon I worked on my jewelry box. I hadn't organized that for years. Many necklaces were knotted together so it took awhile. Found some interesting stuff!
We had the spaghetti salad for dinner which was good as anticipated. Have enough left for another meal.
Again is my most un-favorite day. Clean the house day. Just good to get it done.
Rested from all the work in the afternoon!!!
We had bacon-lettuce-tomato sandwiches for dinner. A summer favorite of mine! Then we watched the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.
We went to HyVee for breakfast, we like their new menu and the choices available. Picked up a cucumber for a salad I plan to make this week. We came home and watched the Sunday News shows. One had not been on for a couple weeks because of Olympic coverage. They both were about the Delta Covid strain and the need to vaccinate. Read the Sunday papers in the afternoon and watched Olympics in the evening.

We watched some Olympics in the morning while we drank our coffee. Then I cleaned the dresser in our bedroom. Once again I had used any spare space to stash stuff so I ended up with two big bags of garbage and a bag for charity. I found some stuff that was hidden that I can still use.
It had rained during the night and some of the morning. Appears we got a good soaking for the first time in a long time.
Brenda came for a visit in the afternoon. We picked up dinner at "Casper's", their Saturday night special is prime rib, it comes with a huge salad and potatoes Au Gratin and their bread. Way plenty to eat, it was good.
Watched still more Olympics knowing sadly it is coming to an end.
We went to Panera for breakfast this morning and then to HyVee for groceries. We bought more than I expected so we should be good for awhile.
Again we have smoke from forest fires. It was hugging the ground today. Made my eyes itch.
For dinner we picked up Arby's new Wraps. We got the Southwest Lime Chicken. It was very good.
Watched Olympics again in the evening.
At last, after procrastinating for two weeks, I finished cleaning my closet. It is a large walk-in where I stash things I don't know where to put. I worked two more hours on it this morning. Don hauled the things I weeded out to the garage to prepare to take to charity or put in the garbage. At least it is done for now. I still have more closets, drawers, cupboards, etc. to clean.
It rained a little, very little last night. I wish we would have an all day rain, it might help the grass and trees.
For dinner we went to HyVee grocery store where they are starting their Thursday Steak night again this August. It is for carry-out. The steak was good, also came with a backed potato and green beans.
More Olympic watching in the evening.
We went to Perkins for their potato pancakes this morning and then to Walmart. I had a top to return to Walmart (that I had ordered on-line) as it was WAY to small even though I ordered the correct size and the tag in the top said the correct size. The returns person scanned the top and then refused to take is as she said it was from a "third party supplier". I asked her how I was to know that and she said there was no way. So I left mad and with the top. When I got home I had an email telling me my credit for the top would be on my credit card bill. We will see, if so I still have the shirt.
On the same trip I had a $8 coupon for some eye drops. The coupon said for two bottles or one twin pack. The twin pack was $5 less then 2 bottles so I got the twin pack. The cashier had to call the "assistant manager" for any coupon over $5. The assistant manager appeared and said the coupon was only good for two bottles or two twin packs. I told her to read the fine print - it clearly said ONE twin pack. She refused to give me the $8 off so I didn't buy the eye drops. Why do I shop Walmart????
Then to Kohls to return two tops which I didn't like. No problem - scan and credit. Done in an instant.
When waiting to pay at Perkins, someone tapped me on the back. I turned around to see a woman with a shirt on like the on I had on. (Which is at least 3 years old.) She said she was thinking my shirt looked familiar and then realized she had on the twin.
We had some fish, that had been in the freezer for awhile, for dinner.
We got our hair cut in the morning. Went to a different place as at the last one a stylist cut my hair very short even after I told her I just wanted it trimmed. Today we both got good cuts so will probably go back.
Afterward we stopped at McDonalds to get fish sandwiches to take home for lunch. For dinner we had a new frozen meal that instructions said to roast in the oven. It was good and different.
Then we watched more Olympics.
Our boring week starts as usual with cleaning the house. The job is mostly putting stuff away, washing the towels, etc.
I had been hungry for Bacon, Lettice, Tomato sandwiches so we bought a nice big ripe tomato and had the BLTs for dinner.
We went to Denny's for breakfast this morning. They have the best pancakes - buttermilk pancakes. The server knows our order, probably a sign we go there too often. Then we had some short errands to do.
Sheila came for a visit later in the morning. We read the Sunday newspapers in the afternoon. Watched more Olympics in the evening.
Don was going to grill steak but he defrosted the wrong meat package so we had pork chops. Also had corn on the cob and salads.
